Do maple necks get more stable with age?
PaulThePlug replied to 2020Jazz's topic in General Discussion
@2020Jazz Mmmm... I kinda like the look of that neck... Jazz Nut ✅.. Mapel Board ✅.. Block Inlays ✅.. Black Hardware ✅.. A bit like this! -

I likes an Ibby... i have 2x GSR200's and an SR600 Me? I'd have this SR750 for £250 silly money before its gone... Then sell the SR400QM on at leisure via FB, Gumtree, eBay etc. wherever, prolly for more than ya pay for the SR750... Quids In and Sorted with an Ibby Upgrade and Nordys Or keep both as the SR750 is possibly less than the cost of a pair of pickups, and possible pre and fitting.

the indentations may be a result of tooling, such as a drill stop depth, perhaps the fluted part of the drills for the neck holes are a certain length with a larger outer? and a little over zelously applied on those two... -
Cheers Guys... Think its gonna be Star Wars Imperial March... But he quite likes a bit of The Black Keys...

My Youngest (13) is showing an interest... His mate plays electric guitar and his dad acoustic guitar in a kids church band occasionaly. Hopefuly Marcus can join em on the root notes and take it from there... I new that Cheapy Ibby would come in handy... a few well placed stickers to help him along and make it his own... Wired both my GSRs VBT to make things easy, and left the PHAT II so he can join the 'Dark Side'... Sorted!.. Should keep him out of trouble and of the computer for a bit...

Obvously lifted the grain in the neck pocket a fair bit... Is that still wetish or after an hour so of drying? Should be a lot less on the sanded body. wire wool n vinegar? If ya like it go for it! certainly carries the grain and gives a unique vintage-esq look, and will go well with the mojo neck and worn ally plate. I wouldnt worry about those spots too much, i got a lot of darker spots when using danish oil particularly on any end grain. so you may well end up with patches where you are not expecting them.

Sounds like a plan... Have you got a multimeter to check continuity? If the grounding plates are in contact in the pickup cavity... and then grounded in the control cavity, earth to pot to body n bridge then the extra thru hole link may not be needed but should do no harm.. I used screening paint and used a cotton bud to paint the link hole and checked with a multimeter. Need more pics mind... Did the nut tidy up OK after the build up?
