1.
Very interested in the five stringer Are you coming tube the UK I live 45 minutes away from the shuttle
At the moment, still hoping for a trade for something with spacing around the 16.5 - 17mm. Ideally a Ray 5 or US Sub 5 or whatever is out there. Will probably be over in a couple of weeks time so will bear any interest in mind. Thanks for the interest
2.
Have a bump for my old sixer which I owned from new and sold to Leschirons of this parish some time ago.
And very faithful it has been too. Just struggling with the spacing due to arthritis these days.
3.
I have the 5-string sister to your 6-string Easily the easiest and most consistent bass I have ever played Have you posted on statii.com? Status make lots of basses with 17/16.5mm string spacing, so your luck might be in GLWTS H
Sort of hooked on the feel of a Ray at the moment. But thanks. I am a Statii member so may put them on if I can't find a suitable trade.
4.
Maybe hit up this man right here http://basschat.co.u...man-stingray-5/
Saw Mikkel's ad. He's after a 4 string trade. Nice Ray though, apart from natural, best colour for me. Thanks though.
5. Ideally, I'm looking for a trade. These two, for a Stingray 5 ( I appreciate I may have to add a little in the way of cash) Both basses play and sound in typical Status fashion. Ultra low action if required, no need to re-tune every 10 mins, great for slap if that's your thing and everything works as should except.....on the 5 string, it would appear that the pan pot has been rewired incorrectly so turn it back, and you're on the neck pick up and vice-versa. Couple of very slight marks on the back of the 5 string neck but don't show up on camera and no effect on play-ability. There is one Status gig bag for whichever bass and a generic hard case for the other. Both restrung in the last 4 weeks. Reason for trading, I need tighter string spacing around 17mm. By all means offer anything that you thinks fits the bill but, I don't like Ibanez basses, want a 34" or 33" scale and I can't stand sunburst. Even a USA SUB 5 would suit but obviously not for both of mine. Don't mind P/X ing one and adding a little suppliment though. I'm in France but no problem driving over / sending etc. Thanks Now for sale. [s]5 string 450.00 [/s] (5 string on hold) [s]6 string 450.00[/s] Now on hold for time being (and if anyone's still got a U.S. SUB 5 for sale, let me know)
6. Absolutely brilliant. Small private birthday party (about 50 guests) in a huge open sided dirt floor cow shed complete with animal urine channel immediately behind us😂 we played on the concrete milking platform. Much to the displeasure of our hygiene OCD guitarist. However, despite the singer losing her voice near the end of the first set, it was the best mix ever. She got through the second set by knocking out the screamy stuff from the last set and we went down a storm.
7. Taylor 110 secondhand. Bottom of the range but still play and sound beautiful.
8. I tend not to get keys confused. However, put My girl and Stand by me on the same set list, and I will get the two mixed up. First, I get the "look" then, it's the hilarious vocalist scramble for the other words. I've done this maybe 30 times😂
9. Just bought a drum kit from Mike. Great deal. Great comms. Very nice and helpful BC'er. Great to deal with.
10. Blimey, it's a lot bigger than the 6.0. Still lightweight?
11. Thanks for the tip. I need a backup head and would have definitely bought a second Shuttle 6.0 had it been all FET but I can't get over the love I had for my Shuttle 3.0. On the 9.0, would the FET preamp still work if the valve channel went down?
12. Anyone know if Genz make a 600w head without a tube preamp like the Shuttle 3.0? Thanks
13. Bum, for the first half a page I thought it was going to be Bilbo.
14. I reckon it's a whole lot of different things and any combination of those things. It's the science behind the magical 120 BPM which Stock, Aitken etc picked up on as the ultimate dance tempo in the 80s. It's a memorable Melody, it's a middle eight changing to the relative minor or major, it's the key change up a tone to the last chorus, it's a well tried and tested chord progression (just think about how many songs are based around Em G D A) Add to this a great voice and production and maybe you're there.
15. Good gig tonight ( now last night) it was a dep. Had got in a couple of rehearsals as there were loads of French numbers in the set that were new to me. All went great and even got to play a heavy rock version of "You're the one that I want" Lovely bunch of French guys, got good money, good food and they even paid me extra for doing the two rehearsals. Now that IS a first for me.
16. It's sad when anyone dies unexpectedly but this is also a serious loss to music. One of the best rock voices ever and my current fave.
17.
I'm starting a shopping list... 1) spare cab 2) bigger car to carry two cabs 3) spare car in case new bigger car fails to start 4) clone of self in case I break down (again!) 5) spare drummer, spare guitarist, spare vocalist 6) spare venue 7) spare audience 8) spare planet I think that covers most eventualities!
It does, but only if your spare drummer doesn't forget his stick bag like your main drummer 😂
18.
Thanks for the advice and suggestions. I only got it to increase high frequencies slightly coz I live in a house with three women. I'll take the HA out at gigs and keep using both plugs.
You've got that the wrong way round mate😂
19. So, Portugal gets it. Loving the four Ukranian security guards. You just know they're itching to shoot someone. Preferably the winner and, his sister who wrote that song😂 Instantly forgettable. It ain't no Waterloo, that's for sure.
20. Graham Norton is really not funny. This needs Antoine de Caunes presenting and doing the commentary (Euro-trash)
21.
Agreed, Leschirons even if your playing and execution is flawless criticism of others is generally not a good idea. Especially if you've joined an established working band and it's your primary source of income. I make plenty of mistakes. There is no way I would ever critisize a band mates playing. Blue
I didn't join an existing band Blue. It started as a bunch of mates wanting to play the odd charity gig and they were short of a bass player and asked me. I had no problem with any of that as I was already in two other working bands as drums and guitar so playing bass was going to be a bit of fun for me. However, when they suddenly decided to get proper paid gigs as the band were going down well, I pointed out that they would ALL need to up their game, put the work in before rehearsals and deliver a pro performance if they're charging a fee. Unfortunately, because they were getting rave reviews from the locals in the village, they believed their own publicity and all thought we were at the top of our game. Only the keyboard player understood, and the drummer and both guitarists never properly learned 80% of the setlist. Hence, after a gig, I would bring up the subject of performance quality. Not bum notes, but mistakes due to not learning the material properly. This "wanting the band to be better" earned me the name Dr Doom as their attitude was,"if they're clapping and shouting for more, we must be really good" I put up with that for 13 years before walking and they were glad to see the back of me.
22. In my case, it's a matter of learning not to criticize the bloke who's band it is about his playing😂
23. Never been sacked from a band but, when I left the function band I'd been in for 13 years (from the start) I later learned that they'd all said "thank f**k for that" So, probably only a matter of time then😂
24.
I've been living in Normandy for the past year and have struggled to find a single gig (apart from last summer's midsummer festival). At the jam session I sometimes go to almost everyone is in their 50s or older. Where do all the young players play?
I live in La Creuse in central France. Nearest big place is Limoges. We have everything from Punk to Funk here with everything in between. Loads of jazz, blues and rock etc. For the last three years I've been the head judge in the local battle of the bands. They advertise for six bands and have to turn down twenty. 75% of the bands that apply (not the jazz bands) are people under 25. A lot of them embrace a really wide selection of genres too. If we go to a jam night here, the musos range from 65 year old Johnny Cash clones to 15 year old gypsy jazz virtuosos.
25.
It is if you want it to be...
Nail.....head😂
