  1. Watching the NTV awards. Opening act, Rak-Su, who apparently won the X Factor having performed the self penned "Dimelo". Which they performed tonight. Can't only be me surely that's noticed that the chorus, is actually the verse from "I wanna be like you" from Jungle book....is it? Isn't it?
  2. Yes, that's the best bit. Vintage y'know.
  3. Here, and there's still stuff in the bedroom😂
  4. To be honest, this was 15 odd years ago and we were doing a bit of sightseeing from Cork to the Ring and back again so honestly can't remember. There was Guinness involved😂 Was not that long before he passed away in fact.
  5. Just tried mine with my Shuttle 6.0 Absolutely brilliant.
  6. Stand up, and Stress fest are the two biggies for me but all eminently listenable.
  7. Be sensible. Pay two grand off the mortgage. This will save you money in the long run. Of course, if you don't have one, then just buy another bass or loads of other cool S#17😂
  8. Triple ports at back and on/off switch for the tweeter. Celestion 108 loaded. Just found one on Gumtree for £60. Probably nick it for £50. Mine's the older type with Richter on the front. I think it's only about 250 watts but it knocks out gig volume with the LM2 on No 4. Moves a huge amount of air and seriously handles a low B.
  9. A couple of years ago, I bought a really cheap Laney Richter rig. 1x15 combo and a matching 4x10 just to leave at our rehearsal studio. Had no interest in the 4x10 so sold it to a friend for 40€ He never used it and last week, I agreed to have it back to stick in my home studio, probably to sit on whilst playing. Plugged in my spare head (an LM2) to make sure it still worked, and cannot believe how great this thing sounds. Really tight and precise, nearly hi-fi tone. Fab lows and mids. It's really compact for a 4x10 and I'm sure that has something to do with it. These go for pennies on ebay . If you come across one, it's worth trying out. I know its all subjective, but it sounds better than my GB cabs, the Markbass cabs I had, and a Berg I tried last week. Trouble is, it's not Neo weight 😂
  10. I'm not sure if this will be helpful or not in resolving the concerns of the OP but I have some butter that tastes like a Jazz bass.
  11. Wife and I went to Ireland quite a few years back and ended up one lunchtime having a snack in a little pub. Up on the wall was an A4 sheet of ordinary paper, inscribed in messy felt tip, advertising Noel Redding was playing there on the Friday. Seemed to really hi-light how unlucky he'd been after the Experience split. Still, he got to go down in history, and 99.999999% of us won't.
  12. The Steve Morse band. I can listen to every album, back to back, no track skipping.
  13. Initially, how you get on, will be down to whether you're used to a B string. If you're not, then the mistaking it for an E string will soon pass😂 You may then, find yourself wondering how you ever did without one. Thetop C, if you're not really into soloing, will still allow you to explore some great chord work. Loadsa fun Personally, I love a sixer but have to stick to narrow string spacing.
  14. I'm in France. I'll post the pics on FB to muso friends and see if I can get an ad on Zikinf. Its a French muso site that also has a huge s/h gear section. Good luck. Now being shared on FB amongst the French musos and also on Zikinf.
  15. Never gig on NYE as we always throw a party. However, as there's always a good ten or so musos among the guests, I always set up some gear in the corner.
  16. None of that, he's he singer's husband😂
  17. I take it all back about the guitarist not having spare strings after I turned up for tonight's gig. Post should have read What sort of roadie forgets the f*#$&*g mixing desk!! 😂 I'm not joking either.
  18. Queen, Hammersmith 1975. The Birds, Hornsey wood tavern 1967(ish)
  19. Luxury, we used to live in an old Behringer 4x12 on the pavement.
  20. Great idea. "Notable deaths" does it for me?
  21. Actually, you're probably not far wrong there.
  22. Went to see a mate's band last night. Four piece that included two full time musicians. The guitarist (one of the two) breaks a top E. Finishes the number and announces a 5 min break as it's his only guitar. Second guitarist starts a number that he will sing to keep things going whilst the other searches his case, accessories bag, his jacket, other guitarist's case, bag of bits, his jacket, the bass player's case and bag only to find, there are no spare E strings. Finished the evening on a borrowed guitar. Nothing like being prepared is there??
  23. Yeah, well aware of Lee Vasey as we've spent a lot of time in Norfolk. Didn't know he was a cousin though.
  24. Isn't his real name Royston Vasey?
