  1. Thanks for the reply. I actually went for the Clip in the end, not the pedal as apparently, they're even more accurate than the pedals. (So they say)😂
  2. Sorted, checked out all the reviews and feedback, gone for the TC Polytune. Thanks to all who replied.
  3. Thanks both of you. I'll check them both out.
  4. Been using the built in tuner on a Zoom B2 multi effects pedal but the input jack is iffy and it's always struggled with the low B so need a dedicated tuner pedal. Checked out the Ashdown bass tuner but reviews are not great so, any suggestions for one that does all strings quickly and efficiently would be welcome. If there is anything out there that's bass dedicated, please let me know.
  5. National Fete de la musique here in France. Did a dep tonight, absolutely brilliant gig. Great welcome, big venue, great mix, set was perfect for the venue and got to play some cool tunes with some great players. Good money too.
  6. Well, it went great. Added bonus of the best sound guy I've ever met. Perfect mix in 3 minutes and didnt have to tweak anything in the whole set. The agent was there too and gave them a second gig straight away. Hopefully, they'll need a bass player for that one too.😂
  7. That's me and Moondance.😂
  8. It's my Mustang Sally that everyone else moans about. I however, quite like it.
  9. Depping on Thursday up in Tours and looking at the setlist, I'm actually going to enjoy this one😊 Only playing an hour set but.....the pros Breakdown & Lowdown Boz Scaggs, Randy's version of Purple rain, Just the two of us (Grover long version) You can leave your hat on, Now that the magic has gone, N'oubliez jamais and With a little help as the sax player does a great Joe Cocker, On the beach Chris Rea, The Ghetto George Benson, Sensa una Madonna, Zucherro and Europa Santana. This is shaping up to be a very enjoyable gig. The cons, Moondance and Domino. Guess every good gig has a price😂
  10. At the moment, the one I love playing is Put it where you want it. Simple tune from the Crusaders, but just love it.
  11. I reckon what you've got there mate is an E, an A, a D and a G. Assuming of course, they're all different thicknesses.
  12. Looks like the way to go. I have a Roland JV1010 and an M1 so should be able to sort a good patch or two. Thanks
  13. It was just an example to explain what I need to achieve. Foot operated preset chords.
  14. I need to think about adding some sort of extra sound to fill out a few bits in the band. Whilst our guitarist is great, we are, instrumentally, just a trio and at times, things get a little sparse behind a solo where keys or a second guitar would normally be. By way of example, in the solo of Another brick in the wall (in Em) I'd need to switch between Em and A chords. Can you even program a whole chord to play? I've no idea. So, looking to explore keyboard foot padals or something like that to allow me to just switch between a few chords. Any suggestions welcome as long as they're relatively cheap and don't involve getting a keyboard player😂
  15. Very reminiscent of the dreaded wedding gig where the best man says " my mate Dave's a singer, he wants to get up and do a song with you. He's sung in all the pubs round here"😂 Funnily enough, that mix was still better than when I actually saw TOTO last year😂
  16. As Dad says, a change of technique is the answer. However, if it's a really cheap quick fix you're after, and he's not a compulsive rim-shotter, get him a pair of 7A sticks and stick a tea towel or T-shirt over the snare with a couple of big elastic bands to hold it. It's mainly the snare and cymbals that will need taming.
  17. It's not about taking anything seriously. I wouldn't be in a band if it wasn't fun. It's probably just that every jokey band name I've come across seems to have been conceived by the one member who "thinks" he's funny, but in reality, is just an annoying knob.
  18. Usually, anything humorous name-wise, puts me off immediately. I've turned down joining bands due to them having a jokey name. Yes, I am a grumpy old b*****d
  19. "Next month, the one and only scale guitarists ever need" Doh. Rae,. Me Me Me Me Me........
  20. Weird, I have a four and a five OLP and they're two of the nicest necks I've ever played. Better than my MM in fact. These are great value for moñey.
  21. Were you a welder at the time?😂
  22. I would've agreed had it not been for the giraffe print giant table cloth behind him.
  23. I'm reporting this post to the mods for unacceptable language. Surely "H** J**" should really not be mentioned in a jam night thread. In France, this appears to be the only f*****g song from the f*****g western world that 100% of french f*****g guitarists insist on f*****g playing at every jam night. Although I'm not bitter about it😂
  24. In the very early seventies, I had the look. Lots of hair, 27" waist and sprayed on pants ( as in trousers, not Y-fronts) I auditioned for T-Rex (drums) and got a second audition. Unbeknown to me, and all of us at the auditions, Bill had already been approached and had already recorded a few tracks. Anyway, obviously, I didn't get the job. My then wife to be however, still maintains to this day that I lost out because I was too good looking for Marc Bolan to have on stage with him. Well that's her story and I'm making sure she's sticking to it 😂 Probably did me a favour really as I suppose he could've offered me a lift home at some point.
