  1. Last night's gig quite strange. Capacity crowd that we kept there right to the end. It's a restaurant/bar that changes to a nightclub at 1.00am. Great place to play, great owner however, he's just sold the business so although everyone was really up for it, it was our last gig there as the new owner won't be having bands there. A privalage to get the final gig of course but mixed emotions.
  2. Followed this thread with interest and was quite "up" for giving these EB cobalts a go however, on Amazon and other sites, there seem to be a more than acceptable number of reported breakages when fitting. Couple this with 65€ for a 5 set and it's a little less attractive😶
  3. And I also remember a version by Bern Elliott and the Fen men.
  4. Weirdest request we ever had (local football club do, back in the UK) was when our drummer was approached, mid-song, from the side and asked if we could do "We are the champions" our drummer issued our usual response in order to get rid of the pest. "Ahh, sorry mate, can't, I know it, but the others don't" "Oh right. Well, okay, can you do it on your own then" ?????
  5. But they're both the same aren't they?😉
  6. Some did come with a cover/rest in that position and that's what I thought may have been there, but as you point out, there should be "ear" marks. I've asked my pal to ask her for some good quality pics from all angles. If they arrive, I'll stick some up, mainly out of interest really. Thanks for the input.
  7. Thanks for links. Much appreciated.
  8. I've no idea. I just Googled multi neck basses and up it came however, I know exactly what you mean. It draws you in.
  9. One of these should cover it😂
  10. Thanks, hopefully he will.
  11. Hi , Had a message from a friend asking my advice on possible value of a 60s USA Epi Rivoli. It's not a great picture and I will assume that it all works and is hopefully original. The serial number suggests it a 64. If this is correct, any opinions on possible value? I/he, have no idea if there is an original case. Sadly, a berieved sale by a late bassists widow. I can only find old USA for sale ads on the net and I know some of you are into this type of bass. Let me know if you can't open the pic. Thanks, Keith Pièce jointe Dick_Bass.pdf
  12. I play a fair amount of acoustic guitar, for private fun and also in a guitar / vox duo. What pees me off is," We're having a BBQ on Sunday, be great if you can make it. Bring your guitar"I It's like having to sing for your supper or someone expecting you to entertain their guests for a lump of chicken!! Regarding the main issue of people knowing you play, I'm never impolite but tend to have a bit of a laugh with it all. I remember being dragged over to a couple of guys eager to chat about their past musical endeavours. They were both into 70s Rock and started spouting various names so I tried to avoid the chat by making out that I was a Jazz musician. "Ah yeah, like a bit of Jazz meself" I then told them I'd played alongside one of the UK's greatest brass sections that featured the great Pete Sutcliffe on tenor and alto saxes, trombone player "fast" Freddie West and Harry Shipman on trumpet. Even got the "Blimey" whilst nodding approval and recognition, before I shuffled off.😂
  13. I had a couple of private bass lessons with him at his house.
  14. I'd probably stick Head hunters on any list.
  15. Maybe it would be easier if manufacturers like Fender didn't produce about 7,000 different options for buying a Strat shaped guitar. Does the market really dictate a need for all these different options what with USA, Korean, Japanese, Indonesian, Mexican and Chinese models? No wonder pricing is a nightmare, there's too much unnecessary choice. Back in the good old days, you either bought a Strat, or you didn't. The only options were colours. I get the "cheaper version" idea in order to appeal to a less affluent buyer but now it's got ridiculous. It's hardly surprising that retailers can't keep up.
  16. I watched an Xmas special Top of the pops and the George Ezra Shotgun thingy was the only name and song I recognised. It's not helping immersing myself in stuff like Take the A train, Blue bossa, Autumn leaves and Have you met Miss Jones etc since I got the upright. I can see our function band swapping me for a younger model.
  17. Never play NYE as we always prefer to throw a party for friends, and family if they can get over. About 60 here last night. Got to bed at 5.30 this morning. Now I think of it, probably less work and less tiring to play😂
  18. Not worth posting a pic of what you need? Might find something a bit nearer than the States.
  19. Didn't that involve Andy Stewart and Moira Anderson?
  20. From my daughter. Main pressie from the wife was the Bassix EUB.
  21. I'd have to agree. Plus, You only live twice of course😂
  22. Time after time and True colours. You Tube is smothered with acoustic versions of both. They work well. Perfect day also works well. My wife is in a choir that does anything from Sanskrit chanting to Creep (wouldn't suggest that one for year 7 though)😂
  23. No-one can deny she's famous and she's certainly had a successful career over a 30 year period despite very serious health problems at times. Leaving aside any physical attributes, I think she probably deserves her status. Incidently, I saw Danni Minogue some years back in the stage show Notre dame. She could certainly hold a tune.
  24. All my basses and guitars are on the walls of my studio. Never had a problem. Just make sure they're secure enough.
  25. Sorry to be a pedant, but you spelled "misery" incorrectly😂
