  1. Not worth posting a pic of what you need? Might find something a bit nearer than the States.
  2. Didn't that involve Andy Stewart and Moira Anderson?
  3. From my daughter. Main pressie from the wife was the Bassix EUB.
  4. I'd have to agree. Plus, You only live twice of course😂
  5. Time after time and True colours. You Tube is smothered with acoustic versions of both. They work well. Perfect day also works well. My wife is in a choir that does anything from Sanskrit chanting to Creep (wouldn't suggest that one for year 7 though)😂
  6. No-one can deny she's famous and she's certainly had a successful career over a 30 year period despite very serious health problems at times. Leaving aside any physical attributes, I think she probably deserves her status. Incidently, I saw Danni Minogue some years back in the stage show Notre dame. She could certainly hold a tune.
  7. All my basses and guitars are on the walls of my studio. Never had a problem. Just make sure they're secure enough.
  8. Sorry to be a pedant, but you spelled "misery" incorrectly😂
  9. To be honest, yes, now that I got through that one. As he'd (and many on here also) pointed out, at this type of gig, the audience are not at all interested. We were just a hum in the background whilst they were knocking back champaign that someone else had paid for😂
  10. The update. Just got back from the "mime" gig. I had previously said, "what could possibly go wrong?" Four days ago, I think I broke my left little finger. Still bloody painful. So, I took a back up normal fretless. Got to the sax player's house, to find he'd now taken the bass off of the tracks, suggesting that I can now "play along" with the numbers!! Great, a random 15 numbers from a list of 30 numbers I didn't know. Fabulous venue and food, corporate gig for 70 high-flyers. I get told that I can share the guitarist's real book charts. Fab, a busted finger, an upright bass I've had for 5 weeks and songs I don't know and now, have to take my eyes off the fingerboard😂 Lasted five numbers on the upright and changed to normal fretless. Less painful and at least I knew where the notes were. Got through it, but stressful, got paid and the unexpected key changes in a couple of numbers were a bit of a car crash. All experience though I guess.
  11. That was the best performance at Woodstock AND, they were (according to Carlos) all as high as kites😂 Michael Shrieve was only about 16 or 17 at the time I seem to remember.
  12. Sorry about this but calling all you headphone experts Need to identify the phones in this youtube clip. Can't find out anything, hoping one of you will recognise the make / model etc. Seems it's a Beyerdynamic DT100. Thanks
  13. My question is how did "bollocks" get past the mods?
  14. Just because someone may be 50+ doesn't mean they won't appreciate a new young band. Maybe, there aren't any worth seeing at present or, maybe there are, but none within sensible travelling distance to make it viable.
  15. Blimey, I used to do all their merchandise printing years ago. Saw them loads. (free passes) Never once disappointed with the show. Dave and Alan were the Merseybeats long ago. A great evenings entertainment.
  16. I play bass, guitar and drums so I'm three musicians.😂
  17. It would appear that there's even a choice. One supplier has 96???😂
  18. Or Liberace's😂
  19. Can't comment on that as I'm not a teccy and as it's not my gig, probably not wise for me to call him lazy and to get his derrière into gear for half an evening😂
  20. Bit of a trek for you I'd imagine, Saumur, in France.😂
  21. The agent was at the previous one where I actually played and probably wouldn't care if he knew the situation for this time as long as he gets his money. It's a cocktail gig for a bank. They won't even notice anyone is there at all. We'll be stuck in a corner and mistaken for coat attendants and waiters😂
  22. So, been offered a gig that normally just requires a duo ( sax, guitar + b.trax) However, for some strange reason, the agency now needs three people on stage ( it's actually a smooth cocktail set for an hour) so I've been asked. Last time, the sax player took the bass off the tracks and I played. This time is too short notice so I've been asked to mime as the setlist is different. Very good money at minimum 250 + for an hour and I'm being driven there and fed but not sure how I feel about doing it as now, he's asked me to bring an EUB that I've owned for only three weeks as it'll "look better" What can possibly go wrong?😂
  23. Good gig tonight. Kept the punters in right until the end which is unusual for this place as it seems to be the bar where people go before going out if that makes sense 😂 Anyway, owner very happy so rebooked us. Two tech problems at the start though. Guitarist's wireless system packed up (bloody things) and my new-ish 50€ super duper custom 3 mtr instrument cable cut out. Luckily always have spare, coiled on top of amp so a quick change over.
  24. My choice of gear these days seems to be based on other factors. Can I lift it? Can I have it round my neck for 2 hours? Are we playing on the ground floor? The actual sound I like on stage probably bears no relation to what I'd hear out front and tbh, I can probably get that sound(ish) with any gear be it £2000 or £200 as I'm not really that anal or fussy. As long as the bass is comfy to play and everyone can hear what I play, then I can enjoy making some music with a great bunch of people. My gear is chosen to make the experience easier.
  25. Okay, it's a five string but been using this for a few months now and before a USA SUB5 so have the choice of 2 band or 3 band EQ. This one really does everything I need in the band. We cover everything from Edith Piaf to the Ramones, Queen, AC/DC, Chic and beyond to fairly modern stuff like Cake by the ocean and Feel it still. Fab tonal palette, comfortable, good balance and great string spacing. This one had a preamp change which also gives me the passive option. Only downside, I wish it were the classic shape body hence I also have the old USA SUB5. Go for it.
