  1. Got tickets for one of the french gigs but cant find any info on band members. Pretty sure he's not used Rocoe for quite a while now.
  2. Could you please direct me to the website that allows me to decipher this? Thanks
  3. Since about last Thursday or Friday, Mac the knife.

  5. I was depping on drums for a friends band a few years ago and the bass player used to throw a bit of slap into a solo in "Play thay funky music" It was his party piece but he wasnt exactly Mark King to say the least. Anyway, we get to "that song" and he asks "are there any bass players in tonight?" A very quick "apparently not" was the response😂
  6. Because it looks like that😂
  7. I married at 21 (45 years ago) so priorities changed instantly. I'd been in bands already for 6 years at that point wanting, and expecting, to be a rock god but, we needed somewhere to live and needed to eat however, still found time to see loads of bands and occasionally play. Kids arrived 7 years later so was still into earning money as even more responsibility. Now 66, two bands, loads of gigs, no mortgage, loads of guitars and basses, live in the french countryside and, with the same wife. Wouldn't change a thing.
  8. Thanks Twincam. This has definitely made up my mind to leave it unmolested😂
  9. Appreciate your opinion. Especially as you've actually done it. Thanks. Seems there's more negative issues to this than positive. Best I leave it how it is😂
  10. Also worth looking at a secondhand G&L Tribute.
  11. Don't suppose you still have a photo do you? I'd love to see how it came out. The time and work doesn't really bother me. I'm happy for it to be a long term project.
  12. Thanks for that, really interesting.
  13. After stripping my SR5, I'm looking at my USA SUB. I know that if I strip it, it'll de-value it as they were only ever painted as far as I am aware however, if it's a keeper, does that really matter? Anyone ever looked beneath the surface of one of these?
  14. TC Polytune clip works very well. Clear, and accurate. Only downside, it doesn't swivel.
  15. Well, here's a turn up for the books. The tonal qualities have changed. I plugged this in to a practice amp to make sure I'd reconnected the electrics properly. All good however, I've just plugged into my main gigging rig, same strings, hadn't touched the amps EQ since last use (my normal settings and in the same room) and it's like the bass has come alive. It sounded great before but now, with all EQ set mid point, I now have this fabulous Marcus Miller piano like tone. Surely the finish can't make a difference.... can it? I'm loving this even more now but would welcome any thoughts on this.
  16. A can of Baufix polyurethane clear. Only because it said on the can that you only need to wait 2 mins between coats. Put six coats on and then when dry and hard, polished with a similar to, but very fine product like T.Cut. That took out any dust particles.
  17. I guess because it's not one solid piece. You can clearly see the join on the back but I don't care. I love it. They even stamped "Opaque" in the neck pocket as finishing instructions I assume.
  18. Got a Stingray5 from skidder (Steve) in an exchange. Played and sounded great. (Great guy by the way) Only problem, it was black, and had high mileage😂 A luthier quoted me 320€ to strip it back and finish if I gave him just the bare body. So, a Black & Decker heat gun, about 8 hours work and a saving of 320€ later, here's the result. I'm really pleased. Before and after.
  19. Doh, that's a Stingray, what cake?
  20. Just got in from a private garden party gig. Only played to the invited 30 people however, if you're going to do a gig like that, it may as well be in a place like this😂 Stuffed with great wine, champaign and loads of fresh salmon and rare fillet steaks. Great money, but we felt sort of like a paid-for rich kid's plaything. They loved it though so who cares?😎
  21. Never heard that before. Brilliant.
  22. Nuff said😋
  23. Never been fired from a band but have been told once that everyone was glad I'd left😂 To be honest, I admit, was a nightmare to work with, expecting them to play in tune, in time and actually learn the songs properly so, my fault entirely. Have left four bands, two to play with better musicians, one to play with simply, musicians😂 and one because I moved to France. All is rosy in the camp now. Play with a three other people I love dearly, who sing and play to a great standard. Not my ideal choice of music but also occasionally play with a sax player where I get to play exactly what I love. Earn great money with both and no egos involved at all.
  24. So none of you knew?😂
