BC is just a little bit more grown up without him.
It is. I'm still torn about the bloke's worth on BC though. He did make me laugh, and gave us permission to view things from odd and very often exquisitely offensive angles. He said one thing regarding rape that did anger me, so I just quietly dipped out for a while and when I came back.... no Beef.

I'll second the Grado suggestion. They specialise in headphone manufacture, and also make turntable cartridges - both to high quality. Even the lower end of the range of the headphones sound good, with a nice solid bass end that isn't overblown or artificially boosted. Prices range from about £80 for the SR60 to over £1000 for the GS1000i

Agreed Clarky. There is a definite Free and Bad Company feel. Excellent build up and the bass sound sits really well, with a lovely rounded warm tone with a smattering of that fretless mwah that doesn't dominate. Splendid work all round.

You originally joined three days before I did, so it's nice to be able to welcome back a contemporary.
.....because I'm an opinionated, judgemental, argumentative, self-righteous, vain, passionate knobend with a dim view of humanity and it's behaviour.
But on the plus side............... no, it's gone.
They look really good. Like the idea that fitting them is pretty simple and doesn't involve major surgery to your bass. How long do they stay bright for if you have to use the LED to activate them? T
I'm told about 45 minutes. Each marker requires a few seconds 'charge' from the supplied torch. I'll do a full report as I should soon be picking up a bass featuring them.

There is a question that needs asking. Apart from 'How do I transfer funds to your bank account Snicks?' What is the reputation system for? What's its purpose? You can follow that up with... Will the way the function is instigated achieve that purpose? At present, the system encourages me to be slightly lazy and click the arrow rather than responding with words, something already pointed out. It also confuses the voting for post or voting for person issue - again something already pointed out. I've just looked and I see I have a score way beyond what looks like any sensible totting up of my 'reputation'. Which begs the question: What are we really measuring? What is reputation? Whose measure of reputation? Stuffed if I know. It just all seems a bit arbitrary to me. However, it's not meant to be taken seriously is it? So it doesn't matter really. And I've just wasted 5 minutes valuable snacking time. Rectifying as a I type... nom... nom... nom Wanders off muttering....What is food? Why am I eating now? What is its real purpose? Why does bread mould taste so awful?....
New covers band, only practised a couple of times. We did a small support slot, 5 songs, at The Olive Branch in Barnstaple. A very good first gig, we were all pleased and happy with it. The two main bands were quite young, 19 to 21, and so was most of the crowd therefore. Our few songs weren't really their cup of tea but we still went down very well. A glitch half way through the guitar solo of Rebel Yell actually did us a favour in a way, I think. The power to our amps cut out, our drummer kept going and did a sort of groovyish solo whilst we sorted out the problem, as soon as power was restored, about 30secs or so, we came right back in where we'd left off. We're thinking of keeping it in the set it went down really rather well As all the others, apart from my singer who is the same age as me, were about half my age, I did say to her that I was probably the only one performing who carries indigestion tablets in his gig bag A good time, hopefully there'll be quite a few more.
This sounds much more like it. Excellent.

Let me guess.... Martin's last name was Barrelfist, a dental surgeon struck off for performing one too many unintended lobotomies.

So it wasn't a wooden statue of Rolf Harris after all. I have to say I do rather like that bass. The round chamfer pickup bays give it an organic feel, the body contouring is really well done, and it has that elusive minimalist feel. Excellent.

Got too many basses? Flowchart here...
ShergoldSnickers replied to solo4652's topic in General Discussion
A simple three box chart is really all that is needed. Still alive? > Yes > buy more basses. V No V Stop reading this and lie still. -
Hi basstech Sorry to hear you are having an issue, that doesn't sound at all right to me and from what you write sounds like a faulty amp unfortunately. I would suggest getting in touch with the shop you bought it from to get it sorted under warranty.......
How to build a good reputation in one easy lesson. Acknowledge customer problems and let them know you are on the case.

You only want to do this once. It's a pain, but get to hear first hand any gear you are thinking of buying, and try to keeps things manageable by having as many things constant as possible. Use the same bass when testing. If testing amps, use the same cab each time. When testing cabs, use the same amp each time. It's not perfect, because some amps and cab combinations just don't hit it off for some reason, and some sound much better than you'd expect, but it will cut down on variables. Don't rush it, take your time, and you'll end up with a better decision.

Many thanks Geoff. You seem to have the knack of making it seem easy for me to understand and learn - so far . Not many are blessed with this. Couple that with a thoroughly easygoing and engaging manner and I see why you have had the great comments made above. I agree.

I rather like the look of this one. Gary Willis. Simple, elegant, but very expensive. http://www.dv247.com...cts/50276_l.jpg

Sound City Bass 150 valve amp
ShergoldSnickers replied to Mr. Foxen's topic in Amps and Cabs For Sale
Used to have a 120 in the mid to late 70s, and like a lot of others, I wish I'd hung onto it. If I win the Lottery I'll PM you tomorrow. This is not a comment on the price asked, which is a steal of bargain basement proportions knowing the care and attention that you put into these amps - but more a comment on my finances. 'Tis a stunner of an amp. -
To this day I am known to position my finger twixt lips and wibble them about whilst verbally fishing for a cup o' char from the kids. They do not understand. Nor do they make any tea. Bastards. Mike Howlett - I remember Master Builder (I think) on the 'You' album as a good example of his art.
