1. Saw an article on BBC website yesterday, where bonehead was trying to get a bit of sympathy regarding the free download . '' we're just a few Irish boys..' Blah blah blah.. It doesn't matter where he comes from. Being Irish is no excuse for being a twunt ! Now , if someone were to nail him to two planks of wood. Leave him in a quite area . Three days later, return to cross and see if he really is God. If he is, then I'm not worthy etc.
2. Of you're the last band on , you'll probably be playing to one man and his dog. Sounds like yosy be better off turning up with just a triangle ..
3. Not read all the thread yet. I've seen a couple of posts about charity gigs, and tbh it looks like a nightmare . If I were the op, I would say ' sorry , but due to illness we have to pull out of the event etc.' I've always wanted to play a small gig , ( somewhere in the west end like borderline/100 club ). I would charge people on the door , with all the proceeds going to a small animal charity like the blue cross etc. That means you just do your usual gig, without additional hassle / p@@s taking etc.
4. Thanks for that. Looks a bit too messy to get involved . I may just loosen the pedal if I can, and take it from there. It's not my primary effects unit, but ok for a mess around ,)
5. Possible;) I probably need oiling as well. Back to the pedal; is it easy to adjust the pedal with Allen key ? Any ideas ? Cheers
6. If the guitarist wasn't mr. Vocals as well, I'd suggest everyone plays and mr. Vocals turns around and checks the volume and he decides. Why not bring someone along who could listen and make a neutral judgement with levels etc. Mr. Guitar sounds a bit jumpy
7. Feels stiff and squeaky! Not sure if it needs oiling, or removing. Any ideas? Cheers
8. Whatever happened to tommy McLaughlin ?
9. What about the badtz marou scratch plate ?
10. Interesting topic. I have yet to read all of the thread btw. I have an observation or two; When I used to have a hohner headless bass.. It used to sound a bit muffled compRed. To a steinberger. Was this the pickups or the body? My Washburn status looks and sounds ultra professional. Body is walnut. My jack Daniels bass is a basswood body. The band used to love the sound but to me, it sounded like the hohner and not as powerful as the other2. My vester fretless is made of bubbinga and sounds great too. Not too heavy either
11. 1st album brilliant. A couples singles were great too. Love pork and beans. I played that, has pipe and buddy holly live a few times. Bought the album with the green cover in a hmv sale. Poor. As a few people above mentioned; they became a bit of a cliche somewhat. I like the new single tho' . Never seen them live, so don't know if I missed out ..
12. I am 'watching' the 5 string version on fleabay at the moment. Am considering offloading a couple of basses and effects to make way for it if I bid. Decisions decisions ..
13. Nearly got this setup while I was still gigging. Hard to get hold of , and times were hard at the time. Looks (and probably sounds ) awesome
14. Glad you're still doing it . More power to ya! Sounds like you'll get better the more you're together. The bass stands out, which is a good thing Playing loose is always better than actual recording IMHO . Trying too hard not to make mistakes etc. Keep it up
15. The sleepless nights are probably down to the fact you are moving. Why not wait until you move into your new abode to find out what the sound is like there? Also what bass are you using etc.?
16. Well, the bass sounds good. As for the vocals and the guitarist(s), not so keen I'm afraid. I think the song title is repeated too much tbh, Glad you're enjoying it tho'.
17.
In my last band in rehearsals we did a one-drop dub version of Sabbath's Iron Man with trombone and trumpet playing the vocal/guitar melody. We never gigged it but it sounded epic.
That sounds fantastic
18. Rivers of Babylon . Gotta be in the style of metal tho'. Nobody would expect it, and it would bring a smile to everybody's face.
19. Happy jack should know ..
20. Sell them both and get Aguilar ?
21. One or two of the punters were standing too close apparently
22. I would suggest either getting a safety pin and putting it into the round part of the string, or just keep toggling the wire up and down etc. this happened to me some time ago
23. Times are hard. My tele never sold. You have a fantastic proper road worn bass. Keep it unless you really need the cash.
