1. I can see his point. Rock will be seriously wounded but not totally dead IMHO
2. Obviously nor a Berger . Looks like a nice backup bass tho'
3. If it's just for home practice , why not get some studio monitors and plug your bass into your PC/ Mac. ?
4. Tired at the moment, but off top of my head, I would say early Saxon /Judas Priest ?
5. He's playing London this month. Think I'll be in Ireland when that gig is on ;( winery dogs were totally brilliant at the underworld a few weeks ago.
6. Drummer at wrong rehearsal room not the wrong gig. ?
7. I used to like rehearsing , when things were 'proper' . This would mean that ; the rehearsal room was adequate , not tiny . Your ears would not be ringing for the rest of the day/night . The other band members always knew when to look after the kids , and not have them brought along bored for 3 hours . Never got the weeks mixed up. Songs were learnt by all for the next rehearsal . No bitchy comments if there were difficult parts of a song that had to be ironed out. This was rare, hence me not being in a band for. 4 years ..
8. I have a Washburn status. Notoriously bright, very trebly , perfect for slap tone. Loved that tone . Various covers bands preferred the Hohner professional sound, which was passive . I had a few problems with my Washburn circuitry. Graham Noden of Denmark street mentioned that in the '80s , a lot of active pickups were just put into basses with mixed results. He tested the strength of my stock status pickups and decided that they were strong enough to be made passive, without sounding weak. Result being a much warmer and adaptable sound. It sounds like the op would be better off with a tele bass with just the one humbucker , with his musical preferences. Or , a headless bass which has a passive/active switch.
9. Denmark street?( ok, it's the west tend ...)
10. I've done the doorstep challenge, and slammed the door shut on Shane Richie . That doesn't count tho ' does it ?
11.
I'm more of a guitarist than a bassist if truth be told. This is my main guitar, self built. Actually I posted a thread about making it here: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/210039-so-i-built-my-ideal-guitar/
Made in China ?
12. Haven't had time to read this thread yet. Just thought I'd mention that I saw them on the box( Glastonbury , reading) , and for a two piece band they're good. Can't stand the white stripes, and hope they don't get as tedious as them . It will be interesting to see how they progress as a live band . Sparks were the best 2 piece band I saw, and they had guests .
13. Girlfriend sounds cool. All she has to do now, is buy you a les Paul bass. ( oops ! Wrong thread(
14.
Loved CCR since I was a kid wearing out their singles on my mono Dansette record player...
Same here
15. At first I was gonna say, sell your amps and go for something like ; Mesa boogie walkabout scout/mark bass/phil jones combo /gallien Krueger etc. All small , compact good reviews etc. However, when you mentioned the sound you are seeking, Aguilar do excellent heads and cabs. Not too big either. Over to other bass chatters ..,
16. Wow! Now to find a girlfriend ....
17. Nice axe. Could be good for metal( it has a whammy bar)
18. Seen quite a few on eBay over the last year or so. Things is, they were headless( which is cool to some) , and it was eBay America .
19. Why is life unfair and times so hard. This should've been gone long ago. Have another hulk bump
20. She'll probably encore with' master of puppets' tonight anyway. Can't see what all the fuss is about
21. I wonder if she will change some songs over the various dates that she is performing. Some of the 'fans', seem similar to Rolling Stones 'fans', who would be upset if 'satisfaction' wasn't played. Good luck to her .she should do what she wants .
22. I remember reading an article about judie tzuke many years ago. Apparently, she used to have all of her collection on cassette . Useless information I know
23. Slight hijack to thread; I too am sticking a listening rut. Been working long hours , and haven't had the energy to plug my iPhone into my mac to change my selection. Plus a couple of friends keep sending stuff onl my Dropbox . I intend to sort it outthis weekend. In the meantime, I will post some recommend actions on this thread later;)
