1. Cool playing download?! Ambition achieved . Don't forget to do the dog and duck as your warmup gig;)
2. Interesting observation/rant;) This thread could be a long one . From time to time, I think we all wonder. From my perspective; used to love listening to radio 1 in late '60s /early'70s. From the age of 4- 11. Led zep / sabbath were regarded as heavy(along with very soft bands)and got hardly any radio play. I skipped school a lot and listened to my brother/sisters hippy collection. Hawkwind, groundhog s atomic rooster budgie etc. The '70s were great. '79 got into nwobhm, saw loads of bands. You know who they are;) Mid '80s..thank god for thrash! Metallica were/are relevant for a whole lot. Death metal, good to listen to , but comical . King diamond musician ship superb . Now rammstein are best ever band IMHO . I love ambient stuff as well. So now? I listen to a Canadian rock station ( billy talent, headstones, shine down offspring etc). Would never go see them, but they sound good . I'm the s ame age as op.' My issue with rock bands now, all tattoos, all the same no substance or longevity.( sound like my dad). Hair metal is now hairless. I'm bored of it myself. As for playing live, it depends on your location as to who watches what IMHO . Classic rock will always be in. Regrets about old days; wearing bike jacket with the British steel razor on my back melting in the son.
3. ..and a compromise has been met. £85! I guess , having no council tax payment this month, should soften the blow .
4. I made a bid for the bmr5 , for £63. This was rejected , the seller will accept £90. I have made a counter offer of £80 . Got a feeling, that this bid will be rejected also.
5. I had the v amp pro. Instructions were rubbish . Not much for bass , and tbh there are a lot of better things . Line 6 for example. IMHO of course;)
6. Are those boss micro recorders any good? I just wanna plug bass/app / looper into it and off I go, saying bye bye to glitchy GarageBand .
7. Had a bit of time to kill yesterday, between 2 hospital appointments. Ended up in Denmark St . Saw a white Washburn status in the window. ( I already have a de activated wine colour one). Thankfully, it was a smidgen overpriced at£495 Guess I'm cured;) i was even thinking of exchanging my steinberger for it. I have seen the light
8. Good price Rob. Shouldn't be around long .have a bump;)
9.
I wouldn't bother with the plastic rack. If they are staying at home you should try to find a BMR-5: http://www.bossarea.com/other/bmr5.asp I think the Chorus, Phaser, OD and Flanger are all analogue so will sound great! They delays are most certainly digital. From what I remember the micro series had more options than the Boss compacts, but the circuits were very similar.
The br5;) that's the one I meant(sorry).
10. Sounds are very good. Some of the effects are digital . The distortion/fuzz is very versatile , and although not a strictly bass effect sounds great. I would imagine that these are pretty much the same as the foot pedal versions ( never had many boss foot pedals tbh).. A friend has just emailed me the empty rack that appeared on eBay . I can't afford £100 right now, so cannot justify paying for a bit of plastic.:
11. Looks a bit overkill .also upside down
12. Well, here's a pic;) now I'm thinking of getting something basic to record some stuff. I get slightly irritated thinking of the computer route . I was thinking of getting a small 4 channel micro mixer, and just recording it on a basic hardware system .
13. Looks very cool! Now get a cassette deck;)
14. Thanks sponge bob I forgot to mention an observation . I have ceiling speakers , in bedroom/ hallway as mentioned. I have a lot of remastered CDs . However, playing cds that were released and not remastered sound good through these also . Regarding streaming etc. the only off putting thing for me, is the fact that you have to rely on a wifi connection. Listening to tune in radio for example, can infuriate me . Some of you have seen my rants about bt broadband already
15. Nobody would dare go near you at a pub gig ,with this in your possession. Even Mr.Drums would feel slightly intimidated.
16. Back in the mid '80s, I went to the monsters of Rock one day festivals over here. On two occasions, I went to the equivalent in Germany . In 1987, Bon Jovi headlined the uk one .( mismatch or what?) A week later, I went to the equivalent in pforzheim( Mannheim) where Deep Purple headlined. Loved it there. In 1988 Maiden headlined here, and inGermany on fc Colognes football pitch. Gig wise, I preferred the cologne gig. Testament replaced megadeath , while mustaine was drugged out of his eyeballs apparently. Testament were close to being the best band of the day. The week before, was where guns and roses were too low down on the bill, and somebody died in the crowd. Would I go anywhere else other than uk now ? Well, often thought about the states, but with security issues I don't fancy waiting ages if any possible terrorist threats occur. However, seeing ram stein in Germany looks very tempting .
17. Good price . I think there were a few threads about these, last year. Would imagine you'd get your money back on here, if you got it and didn't like it .
18. Just listening to Pete namlook & Kraftwerk on spotify via my cambridge audio soundbar ( soundstage ?) and tbh it sounds great.
19. Yeah, I've noticed that myself . Maybe the sellers are a bit highly strung?
20. I have the 4 string ,fretless version of this."Plays like a knife, through butter." If times weren't so hard, I would be the winning bidder.
21. I've just started using it , via 6 months free Vodafone bundle . So far, brilliant .
22. Cheers, will check this out later. I would imagine billy Sheehan and tony mac alpine may be on there.
