1.
I haven't bought it yet. I have one Curbow which I love and there's no way I'd change it or sell it. My thinking was whether to get another and try to shape its sound into something that fits better with what I want Bass No. 3 to do.
Oh yeah, you did say earlier : Now I understand. If I was buying another one ,I think that I would sill leave it as is tho'
2. I think 4 is too many...Gimme one of those
3. Sounds like you should leave alone. I believe in not altering stuff unless it's absolutely necessary. You could sell it ,then look for something more suitable for your requirements etc.
4.
I just woke up so I might have missed it in the post ... but.... if you want people to collect you might want to put your location in the post OR update your profile. Free bump Edd
Oh yeah, forgot about that. Thanks Edd
5. Gator hard case : Have only used this a couple of times in the guitarists car in my previous band. Been in loft since ,gathering dust. It has keys ,silica gel ,cerificate dating march2006 and smells lovely. Excellent condition, a couple of scratch/paint marks on bottom otherwise mint. £25.00 collection. **COULD MEET IN CENTRAL LONDON** SKB RACK CASE: fits head amp etc. used but tough, durable and does the job. Have rack bag so don't need this.£15.00 **NOW SOLD** Guitar holders to display your beloved. I bought too many for my flat ,so have 5 left. Each one contains 3 screws and 3 rawplugs except for one. Best thing is to make me an offer if interested and see how we get on . **NOW SOLD** Eden -NC250 Bass Combo:I know that this is possibly the wrong section ,but if tou get gas attack... Awesome sound ,fits into boot of car. Only reason I'm offloading is purely for portability purposes(I don't drive ,and went the Head/Cab route) There is hum at low volume, but when cranked up this isn't a problem and I have gigged with it. If no interest here ,then I will go to flea bay with a starting price of £250.00 Cheers RATM
6. There have been a few threads about this recently.(You're not alone) Like the others say, a band may make a difference. Also effects units, tuition dvds etc. OH, I nearly forgot...a trip to a music shop lookin' for a different bass should do it
7.
great collection! one thing though, £10 per record is a wee bit on the expensive side. andy
+1
8. I used to have the above amp many moons ago. I lost original manual. I wrote to peavey and now I have found 2 others. I got rid of the amp ages ago. If you want me to send you one, pm me your address. My good deed for the day. Cheers
9. I just had a quick google as I haven't heard of those models. Condition pending ,you could have at least a couple of grand. You're in the right place to sell by the way..
10. Billy is THE man!! While he can effortlessley play all the'' tricks'', he always urges everyone to play bass''in the pocket'' etc. and play the basics as that's what it's all about. He just happens to be the jimi Hendrix of bass(imho)
11. I think JB is a little misunderstood at times(like most of us ) When I used to look at some of his columns in the Bass Player mag years ago, I get the impression he was being very realistic ,no nonsense kinda guy. He used to diss ''gimmicky '' things like those spring finger strengthening excercisers. He is also very critical of the ''bass tricks'' and just emphasises the fact that dedication and practice is where it's all at. I think that he doesn't say anything different than say Billy Sheehan or many other great players. I agree tho' with what most of you have said Fun is where it's at,whether you play 3 notes or 1000 a minute etc.
12.
I'm pretty sure that Chris used the Jazz on Parallels live as well, at least on the GFTO tour. His old Tele bass was stolen (Chris mentions this on the Fish Out Water DVD), but has recently been found at auction and bought by a friend of his. Small correction to an earlier post - he didn't use the Jazz on Roundabout in the Relayer era, but an 8 string Rickenbacker.
Yeah, I stumbled across an auction for the above by accident. I was gonna post the link to this forum. However, the auction ended before I had a chance to send link.It was a Tele ....
13. ^_^ If I were in your shoes,I would take lessons from a teacher. I would also buy an instructional DVD from one of your favourite artists if there is one available. If you're after something to ease the boredom, an effects unit can be fun.You can get cheapo ones that are fun.
14. I only seem to find it in wh smiths (waterloo/richmond) Have tried another one in the city and haven't been able to track this issue down yet! How long has this issue been out?
15. I think he's just wasted money on the insertion fee. Wonder what the relisted price will be .....
16. Like everything else , you can get bored or in a rut etc. I've been there ,and alot of people here have too. Back in the mid nineties, I got fed up with the ''usual band hassles/crap''.I took a few years break . I still messed around at home half-heartedly. A great friend of mine (who's a superb guitarman btw) Got me to play a gig for my 40th birthday and since then I ' ve got back into that side of things. I'm trying to get my head (and lazy a**e!) into recording some stuff on my mac . New equipment and EFFECTS PEDALS etc. may inspire you. If you do sell, someone on here will buy your stuff whatever it is you have. You can always buy stuff again if you get the hunger again.
17.
See, this is where I have a bit of a problem, 'cause the "rag" on his head bore a graphoc of the word "coexist" with the c represented by a crescent, the x by a star of david and the t by a cross. He put it on during the song "Bullet the Blue Sky" and was making a point about the futility of war. He didn't ask you to donate anything to charity at all. The "rant" lasted about a minute and the number he asked you to text was simply to sign up to the concept of "Make Poverty History." a campaign which is largely funded by his "tax free" money. I've no problem if you don't agree with any of his politics, and maybe it's inclusion made the show less than you would have liked it to be, but you say you didn't pay to see a preacher and in fairness there was a whole 2+ hours of concert surrounding that brief detour. As for the £75 ticket. The majority of the tickets to those UK gigs were priced at £40 and even those £75 tickets were cheaper than every other big tour of that time. A wider question, to everyone who has a problem with the money side of U2 and uses it as a knock against them - why is it not okay for a band to make money?
The rant lasted alot longer than that. .. It wasn't a brief detour. Campaign?? Sign up?? (it's that martyr thing again''gimme yer money'') Metallica to name just one band were cheaper..and better. I've no problem with any band making money ..I've been to hundereds of gigs and never had to listen to a jimmy swaggart type begger telling us to give money.(Text messages cost money..ask Simon Cowell) Most professional artists don't need to treat their audience to such drivel. They just put on a damn good show. I wonder if he'll put the rag on his head and start begging again when they tour here . Is he aware of the recession?? Oh well, I 'm keeping out of this topic now coz I had my rant and can only take so much of this band anyway ciao
18. Top Bloke ..Top Shop. Haven't been there unfortunately, but have got both my Aggie DB cab & cover nxt day delivery. Will be looking there if I fancy something in the future. Now can I have my free strings?
19. At least I have a reason for disliking bonehead. I had the misfortune of seeing them at Twickenham on their last tour. Misfortune? Yes! Here's why: Paid£ 75.00 for tkt. 1st few songs were ok (I do like some of their stuff,my friend likes'em alot so I went along) Anyway, about half way through the set bonehead puts this stupid rag on his head and rants for an eternity that WE SHOULD DONATE AS MUCH AS WE CAN to various charities. I've never been to a concert where a number to text is dominating the whole stadium. Where is his tax free money secured??? Why weren't the tkts cheaper?? I didn't pay to see a preacher!! I'm sure that many bands donate without the big I AM!! If Lennon can get shot so can bonehead! By the way ,love 'em or not they are good musicians at the end of the day. Not knocking that.. ..just that tosspot of a singer.Or is that the chosen one ?
20. I thought that the best fenders were old ones. I'd get a refund and get a used one from a basschatter.
21. Much as I hate Bonehead and all that he stands for I thought the roof gig was ok.(mainly because of the scenery) The new songs they played are absolute crap imho. Mind you if they did anymore songs I would have got bored. Speaking of people I dislike,Chris Evans was on the roof also. It's a shame someone didn't make a difference and push 'em off.
22.
Hi Lad's / Ladet's Many thanks for the number of trade offers that came flooding in, including several cash offers in excess of £350. I have decided to hold onto this bass for the time being, Having played a gig last week then hearing a number of comments on how this bass sounded was amazing! Everyone has advised me to hold onto it so that is what i will be doing. Kind Regards Justin.
Didn't you get this only a few weeks ago? Why are you /were you letting it go?
23. Active circuitry?? I have a Washburn Status (slightly different I know), it Had active circuitry but after persistent problems the pickups are now passive.
24. This is not a warwick, but a vester. Fantastic. It has very light strings(roundwound) fitted, they are black topped going into the tuning pegs I was wondering what brand they are. Wouldn't mind getting the fretted version of this.
