1.
This is spooky. I had a very basic left handed fretless made by Andy's about 28 years ago, and it looked just like that before the marks. Paid £300 for it IIRC. Used it for a couple of tours, album recording then sold on a couple of years later.
Wow! I've known this man(his name is Andy by the way) for about25/6 years. I think he definately got it mid'80s anyhow. I wonder........
2.
Scary stuff. Glad you're okay. S.P.
+1
3. Howdy! I'm in a bit of a quandry on what bass to play with the band at the mo'. I was happily swapping my Washburn and Steinberger over on different practices and am very comfortable with headless bass. However, now and again the guitarist will play a song or 2 on low D . I've had this lovely Schecter, and have been managing keeping up so to speak. I found that on my last practice, I was looking down at the neck more and was not moving around as freely as I normally do. Les Dawson was becoming more of an influence. The Schecter is similar in colour to my Washburn status. (Too similar really) The strap Im using isnt fully adjustable like the dimarzio one I have on my Washburn, with the click lock at the base. I'm wondering if I should persist with this, or go for something like a Status . If there was a Steiney with a trans trem then I would be after that like a shot. The practice rooms are very small ,and I'm wondering if that too is a factor. What do you think?
4. Awesome sounding amp . Only selling because I got something smaller,as I don't drive. Slight hum when turned on ,but once you're playing no problems at all. Great condition. Can show in action with band in Acton if you want, to see/hear for your self. £350.00 ono. I'm Twickenham based ,so collection only from Twickenham/Acton Cheers Ray
5. Howdy! I've just won bid for Boss ME50-B which on paper ,seems alot simpler to use . This amp is in tip top condition. No scratches, bumps or marks.Comes with instruction books. I also purchased a rack bag for it . The zip on the pocket works, but the tag has come off. It does the job nicely, and again is in tip top condition. I haven't been using it much at all ,and with the arrival of the Boss probably never. Trouble is, although I look after all of my stuff , I do wonder if it's worth hanging on to. I don't want to post this ,but can meet up in central London if you've persuaded me to sell. Price? Make an offer and well take it from there. Cheers
6. £35.00 free postage. How does that sound?
7. These cassette decks are the nuts! If you still play tapes, go for this. NAD are a cool make .
8. left handed bass FRETLESS Thought I'd let you know about this. He didn't realise I'm a regular user of this forum . Cheers Ray
9. How about a hipshot tuner (I know it only goes low D)..... Or just get another Stingray in another colour and get it adjusted by a repair guy. That way, you're familiar with the 'Ray and you can adapt to both bands.
10. My cable packed up last night. No I haven't receipt either Is it worth contacting someone ? I was gonna call my local music shop tomorrow before going in on Saturday. Is it worth doin'?
11. You have a computer,so you can have those instruments(virtually) if you had a mac,Garageband would be for you.(probably) There are free things such as 'Audacity' Also consider Cubase/Logic/ Line6 etc. I've yet to use Logic which was given to me as a present . So much stuff, so little time
12.
You really did close the other thread As I said there, I'm more than happy with custom cables at a good price from Dave. Amp/Cab cables as thick as your arm, well nearly http://www.bassic.co.uk/
Have they got anything as thick as my head? probably not
13. A keyboard friend of mine got a load of the rockschool dvds from the bay. I remember it,but missed lots because that was the time when I was out watching bands regularly . (Don't think I had vhs then) The reason I don't think it would work now is that, apart from the way TV has gone down the pan big time (imho) many kids could make'' music'' on pc's etc.and have alot more choice than we did . It seems easier to make music than ever before. Or am I wrong?
14. Howdy! You may have spotted a plea for help in one of my recent posts , regarding my Aggie amp. There seems to be nothing wrong with it. I've used planet wave cables most . The reasons being because of their nice colours(yes really) and because they look pretty sturdy so to speak. Anyway , could any of you out there suggest what you consider the best leads out there ? Also , regarding the effects send/return sockets on an amp for effects: Does anybody know if I could/should get a'y' shaped lead for that , or 2 seperate ones? Cheers Ray
15. Aha!! I think I'm a complete plonker. I've just used a spare lead and I think that the amp is fine Now to get some ideas from you fellow Bchatters for the best lead to buy. I think this post is closed.
16.
Aguilar have ace cust services, it might be worth you dropping an email to Geoff at Aggie:)
Thanks for that. Do you know if they have got a uk address or is it the usual American one?
17. Howdy! I purchased this from a fellow basschatter ,and have used it in band practice about half a dozen times no problem. I have also used this at home quietly a few times no problem. I purchased the Aguilar DB112 Cab new from Bassmerchant . I do play with amp ontop of cab,but I took feet from an old electrical appliance and these fit good giving the amp breathing space etc. I like to use the amp freestanding ,and not in a rack case as I believe possible overheating could damage unit. Tonight, all of a sudden a frying noise is coming from amp. (similar sound to when a battery is running low on an active bass). I turned knobs, switched amp on/off a few times and I get sound briefly. Then it cuts out. I 'll probably take it in to be repaired (denmark street) Please could you reassure me that it's only a small problem I have with this, and that it won't cost a fortune to repair? Any advice appreciated. Cheers Ray
18. We do it in our band . csharp /dsharp/f/fsharp/gsharp I think. In the quiet section we play the theme from Shaft for a few bars ...
19. Hondo11! My first bass was the same make ,but a precision. A friend of mine (going back 30 yrs) had a rick like yours only it was sunburst. It was better than mine. Used to get good stuff from catalogues back in the day. Have a bump
20.
Id forget the Ampeg cab if you want a slap rig. GK Neo 410/4 (the 4 ohms version) and Markbass LM250 would be my choice for a slap rig within your budget, from the stuff you listed above.
+1 also Eden Nemesis. For easy transportation ,I'd recommend one of those 'rock'n'roll combos(or whatever theyre called) from GK.(They have a built in trolley) You would need around 250-300 watts and with your budget it would be possible . Shame you're not in London,as I have Eden Nemesis 250 watt combo...which rawks!
21. Lovin' all these short scales. I have 2 headless basses which I am so used to. Before I got my Telebass, I was gonna go for a competition stripe mustang. In the future ,I may pursue one . I think the best thing about shortscale/headless is that they always seem to fit into the most cramped rehearsal rooms
22.
if its tapping with a Mr Big tone you want then you need a Yamaha Attitude bass!! c
+1 or a Kubicki. On the other hand ,if you like headless then a Hohner Jack or something similar should do. If you're gonna do lots of it ,then light gauge strings are best imho
23.
A postal order for £1900? Is that even possible?
£19.00? Bargain
24.
All I know is I turn mine up high at Christmas.
