1.
Don't shout matey I've got a wicked head ache tonight. I can recommend Giants of Bass by Stuart Clayton. Bit of theory and technique, written in a very easy to understand style. The rest of the book covering the styles, techniques and kit used by the the "giants". Also a couple of CD's to play along with. Not one of the cheapies at £19.99, but I think it's good value. Cheers, Gary.
2. I believe in the early days Mr.Z used to use a Boss ME8-B effects unit. Loads of bells, whistles, puppies etc.
3. Well, my new Aguilar cab has no tweeter on it. It's the only one I've ever played without one. I'm waiting for my next band situation to find out for sure if I've done the rght thing or not. Just waiting to see what happens when I put my Humbucking Telecaster through it
4. Back to when I was almost 16 ,mummy got me a black Les Paul copy Gu****! from a catalogue. I was worse than useless on that. After a few weeks a good friend of mine said,"you've got big hands and a bass has only got 4 strings -why not try that?" Sooo, got mummy to send it back for a copy of a fender precision (Hondo11) or Hondo 2) 1st thing I noticed is that it never had a plectrum supplied with it. Anyway, despite it being built like a large tree with corrosive metal it became the 1st bass I used before my 1st proper bass.

6. I got the audiobook, but wish I got the book instead. It's very good, but he sounds a little too 'wooden '. Love the show he does on Sat mornings on Planet Rock
7. Howdy &welcome! Now that you're a newbie (as we all were) you will find this site friendly and accomodating, altho' it's frowned upon if you use this site only to sell stuff. I would suggest you take pics of the basses in question, and go to the for sale section. You can then put out a 'feeler'. Judging by what you're selling, someone on here is sure to snap it up. Good luck with the sale

9. one of the best things to take for your joints is(no,not that )glucosamine sulphate. 1 capsule daily keeps everything ticking over. It's when you get to late 30's onwards that you learn about all this kind of stuff
10. . Due to size issues, and portability I have got myself a lovely Aguilar DB 112 cabinet in boss tweed . I later purchased the AG500 from Mistaah Benn to go with it. Since then ,I realise that I still have this Eden sitting in the corner doing nothing. It's a great ,loud bright sounding combo. used but not abused Would swap for Dean Psycho Cabbie Bass. Similar Semi acoustic bass , Aguilar DB112 cabinet (tweed) One of those fender butterscotch basses or approx £300.00 cash I'm based in Twickenham.Greater London. Pickup only please if you are interested. Cheers Ray
11. Sorry it's not worked out for ya. I think it was only last week, we were talking about this on another thread. Love to have it but I have too many basses at the mo'. What does it sound like anyway? Bump
12. All of the above really. It's times like these a Telecaster Bass would come to the rescue.
13. Why not get the same one. Then, customise it!! Get a lairy colour sprayed on it, D-Tuners on it etc. Then you'll have your 'main' bass and a 'fun' bass
14. I suppose the best thing would be to find out if one of your fave bass players has a DVD ie Hotlicks. I had a Stu Hamm one . Trouble is ,I spent more time running before I could walk and eventually went back to the basics. I find that what I do (playing rock covers) doesn't require all the tricks of the circus. When I first learned the very basics and was looking for inspiration, I got the Rudy Sarzo one. (ok, I was a metalhead and it was back in the hair days) It was great for me as it showed bits from all of the party tricks but never went off track with the fundamentals. I do wish that I could go back in time,be transported to LA and Jeff Berlin was my teacher.. ^_^ Good luck anyway
15. Phew! For a moment ,I thought this was gonna be for a Bass! Times are hard Lovely colour tho'. If the bass version is that expensive, I'll pursue a used Dean Taxi Bass instead. Good luck with sale and... Bumparoo
16. I also went to one of his clinics in '96 at the basscentre wapping. Top bloke . Shame the bx3 thing hasn't come to the uk
17. Looks great. Are you gonna paint it bright yellow or something?
18. Saw them last night at Camden.....AWESOME! 4th time now It's a shame that they've been plagued by bad luck. They should've been megastars by now. They still rawk! p.s. saw a little bit of one of the support bands(female on vocals) They were pretty good. Mr.Bass looked cool enough They sounded a little like Evanesence(spelling?) from what I remember. Great mellow atmosphere, great night
19. Thanks guys, they are all rather splendid Gretschs are cool. Looks like the cabbie ripped them off a little It seems that my faves at the mo' still seem to be the big yellow one and a lairy surfcaster ...
20.
No problem! How about a Jaguar in surf green with kent lipsticks and a mint green pickguard? Cool as you like, retro looks, modern tone
nice!
