1. Hi, I've seen a Laney HCM160B priced at £65.00 in my local music shop, its secondhand but still in great condition. Is this a good amp? I've fished around the internet and the reviews are quite positive, but I wanted to ask here in case I'm about to make a mistake in buying it. Cheers D
2. Current set up is: Spector legend 4 Danelectro 63 long Scale Big Muff Bass Overdrive AC Euro 100w bass amp (I've never heard of them either, but the amp was given to me) I play indie/rock/metal
3. Hi, I've seen a crate bass amp for sale on ebay, are they any good? The model is Crate BX-160.. Cheers D
4. Hi, I'm thinking of buying a Danelectro '63 long scale bass. I love the styling of Danelectro and the reviews are positive but I wondered if anyone out their in the world of basschat has played/owned one and what they thought of it. thanks Dante. . .
5. I'd like to start learning the theory side of things a bit more and explore different styles/techniques.
6. Hi, I'm looking for a Bass Guitar tutor/teacher in Sheffield, anyone know of one???? Thanks D
7. Looking in the Sheffield area, looked everywhere and found nothing, anyone know a tutor in Sheffield?
8.
I have got some useful material I can send you if you send me your email address.
have done, cheers for the great advice.
9.
The rhythm section (you and the drummer) is responsible for setting the ground work of any song, a firm foundation for the lead players to build from. They are the backbone of the band. They create the framework that all the rest is built upon. This handles the roots and rhythm of the song and helps get the groove on track and keep it there for the duration of the song. People cannot sing along with a song they have never heard, but they can dance to it. The rhythm section is generally what people key into first.
Cool, sounds difficult. How do I do this??? What do I need to know??
10.
I believe there are a whole host of guys and girls who teach bass using the forum, so they're probably better at giving advise then I am. However, what I'd say is to practice. Play along to your favorite songs at home, throw in some changes while you're practising on your own and don't be scared to make mistakes, get creative or mix it up. I've always thought of bass at the link between the drums and guitar, you have to work with both. Guide the melody. There's tones of advise out there and you're in the right place for it.
But what do I do?? follow the guitar?? or the drums?? My friend mentioned something about ''locking in with the drummer'' what the hell does that mean??? I'm really confused, I've taught myself till now and I'm struggling!! I desperately want to get better. . . . . . . . .

12. I love playing bass, but lately I've been thinking, am I bored? I feel I need to progress and fast, I don't think I'm that good either and I think this is contributing to it. When playing with others I end up just mirroring guitar parts and getting bored, I throw in a few other notes but I just don't feel it and think I'm messing it up. Can anyone offer advice on how I can progress?? play better and feel like a real bassist and not just a bolt-on to the guitarist????
13. So here's the story, I joined a band just before xmas, the atomsphere and the music were great and we were well on our way to gigging and recording with some great stuff. And then the drummer left . . . . . . . . . . . . . . this put a bit of a dent in our band, he was a great drummer who added alot to our sound. But we carried on, and then the lead guitarist left. . . . . . . . . . . .this left us feeling even more down. We haven't been able to replace either, not that we haven't tried, we've auditioned and not found anyone to replace them. We're not setting our sights too high either, we've jammed with people and they either have no ability or there's no chemistry / they're hard to work with. And now I'm thinking of leaving, me and the remaining members get on great, but I no longer look forward to rehearsing and the thought of more auditions make me cringe. Any advice??
14. Good. - Can play fast and accurately. - Can sing. - Always looking to improve my sound and technique. - Always willing to work. - I love findong new things and experimenting. - I'll try playing anything. - I can play Guitar. - Passionate about what I play. - Good sense of Timing. - I love writing weird tunes that not everyone in my band likes. - I play for the song and not to fulfil any expectations of anyone. Bad - Get frustrated easy. - Not always the easiest to work with. - I get lost in trying to get better and sometimes need grounding. - budget restraints mean I have to save for kit. - I over write songs. - I never think I'm progressing. - Can't read music. - Can't slap (but i'm trying) - want to much kit.
