Just my 2p: If you don't mind the in ear type, don't get 'noise cancelling' ones. They offer natural sound isolation like earplugs that doesn't rely on electronics - then your extra money is going towards better sound quality rather than fancy circuitry. This is a good place to shop: http://www.iheadphones.co.uk/ Goo site - thanks
Thanks Danny, but I just don't like the thought of something going so far in my ear. Maybe I"m too old for them,)
I always keep the receipt and the box. The ones I buy have a two year guarantee and break after about a year. Like you've found, it's the wires that go (I reckon where they exit the reinforcing collar near the jack) and the volume on one side goes. I get two pairs for the price of one. Still annoying that they're treated like a consumable.
That's exactly what's happened. You've raised a good point about yhe guarantee. I thought that , once you left the shop, headphones were 'non replaceable'. Didn't know that guarantees meant anything in headphone land. I normally get about 18 months out of them , before things go wrong. Cheers

I don't have one , and have never tried one. However, I have Aguilar amp, and the pedal seems to be a mirror image of the controls on that. Could be wrong . Looks good on you tube ,) Looks and sounds pretty awesome on there ,)

Stupid, self inflicted, bass-limiting injuries
RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE replied to mingsta's topic in General Discussion
Some of you probably saw my hospital thread last week. BTW op, Tom Petty punched a wall in frustration and was out of commission for a while ,) What did the chair do to you ? Have you made up over dinner? -
Omg! Glad he made improvements on that. Unplayable.

Bass. Can you have too much of a good thing?
RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE replied to mildmanofrock's topic in Amps and Cabs
what you should do is to get rid of the spaces.
Wriing this in bed ,) -
Silly question really, but if the zip is broken on a gigbag, can it be repaired ? I have had a fantastic gigbag for my headless basses (effects units could fit in as well). Zip is broken and it would be a shame for the gigbag to be thrown away ;(

Bass. Can you have too much of a good thing?
RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE replied to mildmanofrock's topic in Amps and Cabs
Basically, it comes down to various things imho. What amp have you at the moment? What do the band think of it? Is it portable enough? Has it got enough features for your re quirements( ie have you out grown it?) When I started out, I was more focused on what bass I should have. My previous amps were either bought off friends , or bulky things bought from Loot magazine . These were fine when I played the odd birthday gig. However, when I joined a band with a view to play regularly , I was told by Mr. Guitar , that my Alligator drum amp(which was ok for bass also) was not suitable and I should get a proper bass amp. I did this, and eventually ended up with my Aguilar head and cab. I was thinking of keeping this , just lik e. a guitarist sticks with Marshall or whatever. Having said that, I do w onder if I should. stick to studio monitors and sell this as I am no longe r in a band. -
pink floyd and syd barratt
RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE replied to slobluesine's topic in General Discussion
Couldn't get into them with Syd. However, i did have a few Floyd albums but sold them.Pointless listening to them now, as we know them inside out. BTW , I hate The Wall - hugely overrated imho. (comfortably numb is good ) Just thought of a compacrison , with Iron Maiden! If both of tnese bands kept onto the same frontmen , they wouldn't have been as big.) -

A few months ago, I was pondering over a cheap surround sound style setup for my living room. I posted a thread up here and you were all very helpful .) Now , I've just seen the solution. The Bose Solo. What sells it to me, is the fact that I can put TV on top of Bose-job done! £350, a bit pricey! I know that there are loads of soundbars, but, are there any that let you put your TV on top of them? Cheers

What 3 Bands Did You USED to Think Were Great?
RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE replied to Lowender's topic in General Discussion
I had a bit of a classic rock phase a few years ago. Cream, Led Zeppelin and Bad Company. They All sound a bit over long and bombastic again to me. I haven't listended to any of them for a few years now. Still partial to a bit of early Deep Purple though. About the same for me . Very rarely buy classic rock magazine ( if i did it would be ipad version). Those bands &The Doors are always in there.
-
What 3 Bands Did You USED to Think Were Great?
RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE replied to Lowender's topic in General Discussion
Rush. I went through a phase where I bought a load of stuff, but only liked a few songs per album....and the more I listen to Neil Peart, the less I like him. Red Hot Chili Peppers used to be great, but the totally jumped the shark with 'By The Way' and never recovered,as far as I'm concerned. Up to and including 'Californication' has some great stuff though. That's about it really.I might not listen to a band for a while, then I'll get back in to them again a few years later.
Chilli peppers; saw them years ago on the positive mental octopus tour . Great! Bought the mothers milk album- returned it to hmv 2days later. Have blood sugar/one hot min/ californication albums but never play them. The track cant stop is commercial crap at its worst. -

Saxon! Well i was in the nwobhm in a big way. Iron maiden. Still have a huge amount of respect for them. Free! When I was a kid , I had the Free story album.. Now I detest Paul Rogers voice and think he is overrated. Truth is, there are probably a few more that I have forgotten about.( Faith no more,Groundhogs,Atomic Rooster, early G'nR ) -
