1. Glad you haven't done it the other way round . Could blow a guitar amp
2.
Never thought about that, I hope not!
Don't worry, jack or Kelly or Sharon could fill in
3. If he's back on drugs, show could be cancelled
4. Metallica frequently f@@k timings up and redo song again. Me, I don't believe in stopping unless its a 'safe' gig
5. Only heard it once on the radio . Not bad,;
6. Cool! (You know what I mean
7. Just sent his link to the frontman of my last band. He always remembers me as the guy with the squirrels in his attic. Reason for that is, about 3years ago I had sq uirrels in my loft after a band meeting. Long story .)
8. Yeah, thanks. Not a problem really, but one would think that it would work with all devices.if I never had an ipad, I'd be angry;)
9. Works fine on ipad 2. First time I plugged device into my iPhone 4 .. 'This accessory is not supported by iPhone' wtf.!?! Obviously I prefer using my ipad for music apps most of the time, but this is bizarre.
10.
Knowing what textures to add and how to create them is IMO just as easy/difficult as knowing which notes to play and how to play them.
Thanks , not easy then
11. I'd say it is a charvel. Don't like the stripped body tho'. Quite a few dings by the sound of it, so I would say wait for another one to turn up.
12. Slightly o t ; how hard is it to get a moog , join a band and just add textures rather than being Keith Emerson ? I would love to learn another instrument, and like using apps on my iPhone . If this is the wrong place to post this question , please tell me and I will post seperate thread
13. I think the op needs to relax. He's in a band, and punters love him;) You could overdo practice to death, so be careful. Rhythm stick isn't exactly bass by numbers. Mustang Sally on the other hand ....
14. Cool;)pics?
15. Thanks for the feedback;) . The bass I have is a the one where you have 4strings + 1 string above each one tuned an octave higher.(ee. Aa dd gg) Made by ch guitars. Nothing wrong with headed basses. I just prefer headless for convenience . Yeah, that Warwivk is f ugly Cheers
16. I've hardly used it . I felt a bit wary tuning the thin strings up so high . Yesterday , I snapped the A string . I had a replacement which I cautiously put on. The reason I was wary is because I'm so used to headless bases. I was wondering, do headless 8 strings exist? I know 8 single string versions do . What are your thoughts. ?
17. Btw; am I the only one here that think mc cartneys bass tone stands out more on 'the ballad of John &yoko' than anything else?
18. I remember a few years back , buying a few sets of cheap trace Elliot headless strings at a music fayre.for some reason, the e string wouldn't fit properly on my washburn status. The other thing was, although they sounded bright and vibrant, after about 3 hours they sounded dull. There's me thinking I had a bargain.( When I was properly learning the bass, it was in the mid-late '80s. The washburn status has a very clinical sounding graphite neck. A few members of bands I was in , weren't that keen on the sound(but loved the looks;) However, by accident the active circuitry was removed and I got a lot more compliments in the sound.
19. Interesting thread this. I think Billy's tone is 'unique' . It certainly stands out:) Love geddys tone. Steve Harris on the other hand .. Not too lean tbh. I have a lot of primus stuff, but I'm very much up and down on his tone . Regarding fieldy( not just him) the reason I got a 5 string was because loads of metal bands were playing low b in the 90s. Not really a fan of new metal, but a good low b sounds good. In the 80s the bass was way more prominent on the mix rock wise. some of the bass sounded like slap bass because of the twangy tone .( probably my ears;). Bandwise for me; had a trace Elliot ( not much definition-poor) Went to Eden nemesis(bright and awesome) Had to go to Aguilar cos of portability .. great boomy sound( no tweeter )
20. Any of the above, or funky kitten
21. Yeah, him& his brother ., great rhythm section. How cool is that
22.
It sounds like a DAW is going to be better for you than an old version of reason. All the good DAWs come with enough software instruments for you to be able to create a drum track and then let you record external instruments in sync with them like a tape recorder. Reaper gets a lot of love on here and is essentially free. However I don't know what extra plugin and software instruments you get with it. Personally I'd go for a Mac which will come with Garageband included that has everything you could need to get you started with composing and recording on a DAW. You can upgrade to Logic later on if you feel the need.
Yes,I go along with the last paragraph
