1. The word is ,don't fear the reaper
2. A few years back, a friend of mine sold me his Peavey combo(TNT series /scorpion?) Immaculate condition, but when turned on in the bedroom there was a hum. I had 2 tech people look at it in different repair shops. Think there was an issue with transformer. In the end , I just got rid and part exchanged for a combo and a set of strings,)
3. Seriously painful. Hope you get better soon. More time on Basschat then,)
4.
I don't have any speakers, or monitors, at this time so I'm using Audio Technika ATH-M50 headphones. Sound-wise, just generally a very thin, unsatisfying sound which sometimes veers towards distortion
IMHO , you need a pair of studio monitors plus decent headphones.Plus a USB interface like line 6 ux1 or similar to put it all together.
5. Love metal, but not normally Flying V basses...but that is one nice bass! Have a hairy bump
6. Nice one Wayne ,) just spent half an hour looking at other pics on that page,)
7. I look back to when I was younger. Used to always buy the bass mags, drooling over the gear. Those days I couldn't drive (still don't). I had a great big ohm cab /head. Then got various combos, which weighed a ton. I was only gigging infrequently and rehearsed more. Those lovely more comact combos from Gallien Krueger were being advertised , but they were too expensive. Everything looks so perfect in the mags. The impression that you have the perfect setup, and you are a rock/soul/funk star etc. Reality hits you when you have to lug stuff up tiny staircases thinner than Kate moss's chest. Then ,you're glad you've got that headless that people are laughing at as you're stuck next to the toilet, playing bum notes.(maybe) The average punter doesn't know the difference between a Trace and a little bastard IMHO , except for the odd beard twitcher. Bottom line, use what you want. I think small is best,)
8. Site looks tiny on my iPhone 4..
9. Site looks tiny. Had trouble this week
10. Thanx for replies. Pleeeze keep em coming ,)
11. Was thinking of getting one for my iPad. 2. Questions: are the eBay copies as good as ? Some USB keyboards work, does it work with m audio radium 49? If I have to get a smaller keyboard(akai mpk?)will that work on Mac mini and iPad2? Has anyone got one for sale? Cheers
12. Mmmmm, I'm thinking whether to trade my steinberger xm2 ? Nice bass bump,)
13. I couldn't log into basschat all day until now
14. Aaa argh!my eyes !
15. Because we're in arguably the biggest recession/depression in living memory, you could just buy a framed print of the current fender,) Seriously, you have a good idea getting a bass in this period.
16. Mines made in the same place as shine(and is the same quality).
17.
Non! Rien de rien! Non, je ne ne defrette rien!
I think you're saying do not defret? ,)
18. Can't give a straight answe here. Dansette was great , very bassy ,) Early Tangerine Dream albums had great artwork, but the pops and clicks were annoying. Sabbath albums sounded good. Sabotage was thinner than Kate moss. Judas Priest albums were more warped than anders brevik. When metal albums got pressed onto CDs initially , the quality was worse than crap.(castle records anyone??) Eventually , remasters such as sticky fingers/goats head soup sounded great , with the orignal inner sleeves like the vinyl. Used to love overkill on green vinyl, and bomber on blue, not forgetting levitation,) These days , my lifestyle has changed and will buy CDs I like, put them into my iTunes, and play them on my iPhone . Listen to vinyl rarely , because of this. Don't buy mp3s tho'. Nearly forgot, the needle used to stick/jump. Don't miss that.
19. Thank Sam,) I love predictive text(not) Bass is active, loud(think byrds/lemmy) I'll have to answer other questions later as I'm at work,) Fretless? Not sure about that. Bear in mind , thhe feel of an 8 string is weird and odd to start with.)
20. Actually , I think this is a good thread. If the op headlined the topic'x factor, or'britains got no talent', I wouldn't have looked at it. Now , when I was very very young, on radio 1 You could hear Neil diamond, mungo jerry, black sabbath, carpenters and slade played consecutive ly. I used to know all chart stuff up until 1977. Then disco really took off so I lost interest. Punk was linter eating tho. New faces was the programme then, and I hated tony hatch.( I'd probably think he was ok now), My solution is to avoid watching all 'hype'tv. I have my own mind, and refused to be brainwashed. Picky? No! Selective?yes! ,)
21. Thank you ... That's me ,)
22.
I think someone was selling a CH Guitars 6 string at a great price a couple of weeks ago on here: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/186579-6-string-bass-fs-ft-by-ch-guitars/page__p__1865166__hl__ch__fromsearch__1#entry1865166
23. Cool! Enjoy your day,)
24. I remember the '80s . Keyboards were supposed to be taking the place of bass. Didn't happen. A lot more 5/6string around now tho ' . Bass will always be around.imho
