  1. Worst gig I've ever seen, Paul young. Worst comedy gig, Freddy Star. Both should have packed it in a very long time ago.
  2. Was anything Jules Holland presented ever any good? I remember trying to watch him years ago and couldn't stand him then. I certainly wouldn't watch him now.
  3. Root - 5th - octave. i.e power chord! Congratulations. You now know how to play every punk song ever written. You're welcome. 😉
  4. The only reason I'm in a band is for the social aspect. It's first and foremost a social gathering for me. Always has been, always will be. I could never be in a band with someone who I didn't get along with socially. Life's too short. We almost always go out for a meal and / or a drink after rehearsals, and do lots of other things together. We're actually meeting up tomorrow afternoon for a NYE jam just for the pleasure of it.
  5. I had my money on New Bass Gig Bag Day.
  6. Seems like a definite possibility. It's a very common recording trick to fill out vocals. I've used it many times myself.
  7. If postage had been offered I would have saved your resolve days ago 😂 It's even worth taking the shipping and Brexit tax hit at that price.
  8. Yeah but surely that's pretty much null and void if you're using electrical devices which need charging?
  9. I'm going to ask the band if they fancy playing (in the studio) Nye afternoon just for the fun of it. We don't go out on new years anyway. Haven't for years, and the band is very much part of our social lives. So maybe just a few mates round if any of them want to attend. I might even do a live broadcast on YouTube just for the hell of it.
  10. I'm intrigued. Why does anyone need set list software? What does it do? I've always just written the set list down on a bit of paper and stuck it somewhere I can see it.
  11. That's a shame. Definitely sounds like you got a lemon. I've had mine 3 years and it's been absolutely faultless.
  12. Are you sure you didn't knock the mute button?
  13. Buying from a shop is pretty much impossible for me. The closest decent one is about three and a half hours drive away. Even then, the stock is limited. I mostly buy basses mail order (usually Thomann) based on looks, price and reviews. Then just simply adapt my playing to the feel of the new instrument. I've never yet had a bass that I've felt the need to return because it's too uncomfortable to play. They're all pretty much of a muchness as long as you're adaptable. 4, 5, or 6 string. It doesn't really make any difference as long as you're willing to spend some time getting used to it.
  14. My wife's the singer in my band. She's far too exhausted from lugging the PA around for such shenanigans. 😂
  15. Well I had a bank card posted by next day registered about 10 days ago and it hasn't even showed up on the tracking yet. So it looks like things are going swimmingly. 🙄
  16. I'm exactly the same. I often see basses around the £300 mark that I would really like to buy, but simply can't justify the outlay.
  17. Interesting looking bass this. I haven't seen one of these before.
  18. I personally wouldn't spend more than about £350 on a bass. Neither my level of playing nor frequency of gigging would warrant it. There are some perfectly good bases around for that money, and anything over that is just a cascade of diminishing returns (i.e ten times the price wouldn't get you ten times the bass) I also just wouldn't feel comfortable taking a really expensive instrument to gigs. I've never understood the logic of people who have a 3 grand bass in the house and a £150 Harley Benton for gigs. Just give me the Harley Benton in the first place and I'm happy. Now amps / cabs on the other hand I'd be willing to put a little more into. But that's only because a good power to weight ratio doesn't come cheap. If my back wasn't so knackered I'd happily pick up and gig one of the cheap Trace rigs that come up fairly often and go for peanuts.
  19. I'll see your geographical distance and raise you 2000 miles plus Brexit tax. 😆 Lovely looking bass this.
  20. If you're looking for light then Harley Benton probably isn't the way to go. They're superb. But they're almost always on the heavier side.
