    But that implies a massive amount of musical snobbery. Do you think (for example) jazz is superior to metal? I think it's just a matter of personal taste. If that's the case then I'm happy to be Neanderthal. I'll take Cliff Burton over Jaco Pastorius any day. Just like I'd be much more at home with a ham sandwich than a bowl of caviar. The perception that one is better than the other is absolute nonsense.

    I suppose it very much depends on your perspective and musical tastes. Jazz, R&B and funk mean nothing to me. All my musical tastes and influences come from rock, punk, metal, and blues. To me jazz is just a load of random notes with absolutely no musicality. It just sounds like roadworks. That doesn't mean I'm right. It's all just a matter of opinion and perspective. At the end of the day, I like what I like. Simple as that.

    Yup. There's no black and white, right or wrong. Whatever gets you where you want to be is superb. I think bass players are generally much more diverse and laid back than a lot of other instrumentalists. Maybe it comes with the job title.

    I have the same problem with Scott. Clickbait marketing and rambling YouTube videos aside (which I understand is very much "playing the marketing game") Despite him being undoubtedly a phenomenal player and good teacher, I can't stand his style of playing. I have absolutely no desire to play the plinky plonky Jaco worshipping noodly jazz he teaches. It does absolutely nothing for me musically. I much prefer Mark at Talkingbass. His much more down to earth presentation and no nonsense teaching style suit me far more, and the lessons cater much more to the kind of music I like to listen to and want to play. Horses for courses I suppose. I know loads of people who have benefited immensely from Scott's lessons. But it's not for me.

    Personally I'd go with a humbucker, preferably with the option to split the coils. Best of both worlds. 😉

    Happy days. 😁 I have it fitted to my Traben in the same 2x2 configuration and there are no visible new holes so I'm assuming the same applied. It was on when I bought it.

    Yes. They have an adjustable stop screw so you can drop by any range up to the physical limit of the lever.

    I thought the same when I first started playing a sixer. I couldn't see me ever going back to a four string. Then I put my back out and literally couldn't even lift it. ( Mine weighs 14 pounds ) so had no choice. The think I've found though is that the time I spent with the six has made me a far better player on the four. My muting technique is much better, and I now use notes I wouldn't have even considered going for before. Lots of nice little runs and slides to get to the notes which were much more easily accessible on the six.

    Yup. Sounds familiar. I had a well worn Ibanez copy which was probably better built than the original. I traded it in for £50 against a guitar when I was about 18. What was I thinking?!

    Sounds like a compressor with the level turned up quite high. That would kill the initial loud slap of the note then phase back in as the volume decreases, causing the delay effect you're talking about.

    They also fit perfectly into a laptop bag along with the cables for a fraction of the price if you don't need bullet proof protection. Good enough for throwing in the back of the car. 😉

    I almost posted this video myself a couple of days ago, but then I went to the bar and forgot about it. 😆 I enjoyed the build, and it looked and sounded pretty decent when it was finished.

    Spotted this today which could be the perfect solution for me. Basically an XLR adapter with phantom power that plugs straight into a phone, tablet, laptop etc. So I can record with my phone, which has excellent video quality, but use a good quality mic to pick up the audio.     I was given this for Christmas by the in laws. I can kind of see where they were coming from, but I wouldn't dream of wearing it in public. It makes me look like an Oasis fan (can't stand them) or a cheap extra from Kevin and Perry. I might wear it in the pool in summer to keep the sun off, but on stage I'm happy to embrace the bald. I've been shaving my head since I was 25, so it's much more a part of my look than any hat. I'm strictly a beany when it's cold man.
