Feedback for Davey

Another recommendation for Davey. Received strings really quickly with no messing about & as described. Cheers Nick

  4.
Just wondering, has anyone tried swapping the tone pot in their P Bass for a Varitone? I'm seriously comtemplating it...
Me too. Also, been interested in trying one out. The only thing for me, is that I do use the tone control on my precision, so don't want to lose it or have another pot there for the varitone. Mmmm... Wonder if they're available with dual pots or something similar?
  5. +1 to buying secondhand. With the sort of sound you describe, was thinking of the V-Type Combo for sale on here. I use a 300w head with a 1x15 or 4x12 cab - sounds great, but you want something more portable. That combo could be what your looking for(?) Was tempted to that combo myself, but can't justify another amp.
Do you remember how much for and if it was advertised as a Ex-Duff?
I remember it being advertised 'ex-Duff' by a Californian muso in Bristol in a hurry to sell it, to raise some cash. I recall the asking price was around £600.
  10. Saw this for sale on Bristol Gumtree a while back.
  11.
A shout also for Emory Gordy. He played bass on some of Elvis`s early 70`s sessions, notably one of his best songs, burning love (which is what you get for spending a night with some of the females around these parts!). Fantastic little bass line.
+1 ; 'Burning Love' has a killer bassline. Emory Gordy's my favourite of Elvis' bass players.
  12. Thin Lizzy were the first live band I ever saw. Was lucky to catch them on their last tour (Thunder & Lightning LP) in 1982. Remember the day Phil Lynott died My favourite album is 'Black Rose', so many cracking songs on it. RIP Mr. Lynott

  14.
Hey all, I was playing today, when I noticed that my tone pot became dysfunctional, and my tone stayed at a constant "zingy" feel rather than mellow, which is how I like it! I know how to rectify the problem (my volume pots have come unsoldered before), but i was just wondering whether this issue could cause any damage to my amp, as it may be a few days before i can get to a soldering iron. I know this probably sounds silly, but I've just got a new amp, so I want to make sure I don't carelessly damage it (e.g. like when you pull out/put in jack leads whilst forgetting the amps still on). Its a passive bass, so I instinctively dont feel there will be a problem, but I just want to see if you guys feel the same way. Cheers for your help!
No. Some players have even been known to disconnect tone pots altogether if they're not used. Cheers

Not sure if they are a user of said instruments or involved in some more direct way.
Yeah.... think this seller is on here (BC). Can't recall chap's name, he's Ukrainian. Noticed before that he's had some interesting guitars & basses for sale.

    Boss SYB-5

Hi, There's a few threads & posts on here about bass synths, you'd be better off having a look at those tbh. Most recent here Bass Synths Never had an SYB-5, tried one out & decided it wasn't for me. I personally use octaver, fuzz, compressor, envelope filters to get synthy tones, but I think EHX Bass Microsynth is good for the price. Cheers
  18. Have another bump. Built one of these myself recently. Find it really useful. Apart from the obvious bypassing tone sucking pedals, I use one to bypass my pedal board completely in case it goes down when I'm gigging due to PSU failure, cable fault etc. A good price & looks well made.
  19. Another +1 for the Microsynth. If you can pick one up S/H for a good price, great pedal for the money. Wish I now kept mine
  20.
I've used up to 3 fingers since I first started. For very stright grooves I tend to use 2, and throw the third in for triplets and ghost notes/muting.
Same here. Started on three myself too, but now tend to discipline myself to two fingers, using the third for pretty much same reasons as you've mentioned. Though lately, enjoying using just the index finger also.
  21. Not strictly twins, but (not too distant) cousins! 2004 Fender CIJ '62 Reissue & '82 Tokai Hardpuncher Both with Seymours SPB-1 (Vintage) & heavy flats. Bit extravagant (to me) having both, same type of bass, but I love 'em both equally. They feel slightly different from each other; the CIJ has a shallower, more modern profile neck, whilst the Tokai has a more traditional baseball bat old school feel. Neither's a main bass, like to alternate between them.
  22.
Is that a joke?
No - Toasted's correct. Properties of germanium semiconductors are suceptible to change with temperatures & can therefore alter tone.
  23. If you're in Bristol, I'd suggest checking out Electric Ladyland in Old Market. That is, if you can physically get in the shop - literally packed with old Japcrap, vintage amps & God knows what
