2.
The HR16 was ace! I had mine chipped which made it even better. The sounds were superb.
HR16 is a classic - wish I still had mine! I like my Zoom MRT-3, though think the SR-16 is equally good.
 3.
So perhaps I should try and form a Creme Brulee tribute band !
Definitely. Go for it!

 7.
If the above posts are correct and it has been modded for 9 volt supply (no need for battery) I would like to take it off your hands Nick!
Hi Gary, Echoing comment above (thanks Higgie); it's 9v & works off 3.5mm mini or a battery if you want. Please PM me if you're still interested. Cheers Nick
 8. They're nice guitars & basses, I think comparable to good Fenders, but not cheap. Unless you're really set on having a JV, would recommend trying a few Tokais, Grecos, MIJ Fenders etc... too though.
 9.
Nick - did you see your Ibanez make an appearance on the last show?
Hi Mike, Yeah... in that Mondays clip at the beginning - sorted!
 10. I like the best of both worlds, depends who I'm playing with. Always have my EQ fairly flat @ 12 o'clock. With one outfit I use flats strung P-Basses, tone rolled off a tad, with occaisional bit of compression. However with another set-up, I go for a Quarter Pounder loaded Franken-Jazz bass, fresh roundwounds, through a load of effects & quite often playing with a pick. Guess I've got the bass playing equivalent of dual personality disorder.
 11.
I believe the much vaunted original series Squier basses from the mid to late 80s had this. Really good basses.
A mate of mine has just got his '82 Fender Logo JV Squier strat back after 20 years. It's a lovely guitar & worth a bit.
 12.
......They were probably right to sack him or their whole future from Live Aid onwards would have been at risk.
And look like at what they became after he was gone! There are various differing rumours & reasons on why he was sacked on the internet....
 13.
If you want to be really annoyed, how about their poll for the "greatest bass player": http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/rocknrollband/bassists/ Shortlist: John Entwistle Flea Peter Hook Alex James John Paul Jones Lemmy Mani Paul McCartney Paul Simonon Tina Weymouth
Thought the programme was alright myself. Personally don't have a problem with that list either. All of them, bar two, have had some impact in one way or another on myself & I'm sure many other bassists, with regards to bass playing & approach to it. They have all, in their own way ; projected the bass to the forefront of their genre too. There are obvious ommissions like Jamerson,Jaco,Bootsy,Graham,Vicious etc... but this programme was aimed at the typical non-muso type person who probably never even thinks of what goes on in the lower register. If this programme goes in some way to make those people think about what we do & some recognition, then that's no bad thing surely? Myself, I'm looking forward to the release of this film, if/when the makers finish it. This is more like a proper bass documentary!
 14.
Lemmy's main replacement, Alan Davy (was in band 1984-96 and 2000-07) is no slouch either. He is very similar in style to the Space Ritual-era Lammy and is at his best on the album 'Electric Tepee' (check out 'Sputnik Sam'). Well worth checking out too IMHO. He now fronts a hard rock trio called Gunslinger who are in the same genre as Motorhead
+1 Great album is Electric Tepee. 'Right to Decide' is another corker off that albam, Alan Davey really drives it along. My favourite Hawkwind bass player was Harvey Bainbridge though.
 15. Bumping the Bassballs!
 16. *SOLD* 2 x tickets for Wilko Johnson (Dr. Feelgood) with Norman Watt-Roy (Blockheads) @ Thunderbolt (Bristol) , Sat 22nd May. Can't go as I've double booked myself, got a dep gig that night. It will be a cracking gig with these two legends at this great little intimate venue - gutted I'm gonna miss it! This gig will undoubtably sell out. £25 ono for the pair. Which is what I paid myself inc. booking fee etc Can deliver tickets if required in Bristol area. Please PM me if interested. Thanks
 17. *Sold - Pending Payment* Gould 'Non-Reverse' Thunderbird Copy Bought this a short while ago on a whim, wanting to try something different from the usual P-Basses. Alas, I've realised I'm not a Thunderbird kinda guy. Two soapbar pickups, two volume & one tone with set-neck. Sunburst finish, with a minty-green-white vintage style scratchplate. In quite good condition, no noticeable dinks or scratches, but there is a slight knock to the underside of the headstock tip (as shown in photo). The bass sounds OK, plays alright, neck is a bit on the chunkyside - it is a bit of a beast of a bass! Don't know much about the manufacturer, found a review here , though it's not made in Japan as reviewer states, presume China or Indonesia is more likely. The guitar version of this does bear a striking resemblance to an Eastwood Stormbird, so who knows(?) £85 ono + £15 P&P. Local collection OK. Please PM me if interested. Thanks
 18.
Is this still available?
Had a few enquiries, but yes still available!
 19.
hi can you tell me what the difference in sound is of the Russian Bass Balls compared to the US one? ta
If I'm honest I'm not sure, as I've only briefly tried a USA one - dunno sorry!
 20. *SOLD* Pending Payment EHX (Russian) Bassballs - Twin Dynamic Filter In good working condition, no scratches - built like a tank. Was going to mod it, but realised it's not for me - just too damn funky! Sold with paperwork & the nice wooden box that came with the Sovteks. £35 + £7 P&P (it's heavy with the box!). Collection is OK. Please PM me if interested. Thanks
