  1. then it doesn't matter what you get, the 8x10 is THE Ampeg tone. Any other cab will sound like a similar spec cab of any make
  2. I don't give a rat's derrière what anyone in the audience thinks. I play solely original music in 3 bands. We play because we like each other's company and the music is fun for us. If any members of the public like it too, that's a bonus. At our age,(over 50) life's too short to worry about if the audience can see my tuner......
  3. engage your brain dude ! Straplocks , don't lift the strap over your head. put a piece of foam on your ceiling? but, after you ding it once, you won't do it again
  4. blimey, you might have to buy an original pedal, you know, designed and built by the one company..... PS taking the PI55 , I have high end pedals and Behringer stuff too,
  5. when you are on the large side you need to see if you can fit into it first not your problem, mine
  6. wow you must smoke way more wacky backy than I do to have such a bad memory lol, but it's impossible to smoke more than I do.....
  7. I second not buying online I found a nice leather office chair where the arm rests can be raised and lowered. For bass playing, they drop to below thigh tops so perfect for playing. I'm a hefty fellow so I look for ones with metal leg-thingys
  8. it's title is actually misleading, it is as much about modern western music from the 1920s onwards. Bing Crosby, staid old, boring old Bing Crosby was actually a trendsetter. He was the first non musician to front a big band. He was also the first to sing into a mic thru a pa. iirc
  9. I have those, great for drum overheads and they are good to stereo record acoustic guitars, one near the neck the other near the soundhole.
  10. saw him live in the late 70s, great performer good on him
  11. I use the Xvives at home. Surprisingly long time on one charge, like hours and hours. The charger is clever too, can charge both with the one split cable.
  12. super glue the tip to the rest of the earpiece?
  13. it's plastic, it ain't gonna hold a bass, basses a heavy, remember plus, that is for guitars. they don't weight as much as basses. I DO like that other method. But I like them in a rack of five, except I now have nine basses lol,who would've thunk it.
  14. we are very lucky Down Under in that our OzBass forum (pop in and say Hi btw) is a tight knit bunch and being a smaller group,we all know each other very well and sell and buy with complete trust. No qualms in sending $1000 via Paypal family and friends. One guy posted my pedal to me before payment had been made. I bought a $1,000 amp from interstate,a recording desk ,basses, never a problem. We have a rule where you have to be a 'supporting member" to buy and sell, seems to keep the riffraff away.
  15. try wooden picks. I bought some from a Canadian guy, treepicks is the business name. Has a thicker, deeper attack, no plastic click sound. With flats you definitely can mimic finger plucks. Not cheap, $20CA for 3. but they are great. Worth a try. I used to use fingers only, but now I can't put these picks down. Have transformed my playing as my plucking hand is getting worse with arthritis and I can't play as fast as I could.
  16. with my MarkBass Vintage 500 and Blackline 250 amps, I set all controls flat. I get that pure P or Jazz tone. Of course, live I usually have to adjust,in small rooms attenuate the bass a bit usually is all I have to do. For a laugh, and ease of loading in and out by cab at an outdoor festival,I took my Elf and one 10" cab. The sound crew laughed at first, then at soundcheck were so blown away by it that they added a mic to the DI feed. Was thunderous , from such a tiny amp.
  17. agree with pete, I have D'Addario half rounds on a 34" fender p and it's my go to bass for live work. Like pete said, you can go thumpy with a turn of the tone knob, or grindy roundwound tone by turning it up
  18. stunning bass, all the best with it. what strings are you gonna try first?
  19. agree 100%. they are not ugly, they are fugly relic jobs. If you want a bass to look like you've played it for 20 years, ummmm, PLAY it for 20 years. Maybe put sandpaper on your forearms? (no cricket jokes, pulease )
  20. nice. I bought my first Yammy this year, a fiver. No idea what model,I can't remember their stupid model system
  21. NOOOO I did not need to hear that, LALALALALALALALALA I CANT HEAR YOU LALALALALALALALALALA
  22. I have the MarkBass Vintage amp, man it absolutely gets that tube breakup sound I was striving for. And does crisp clean and all stations in between. The pre amp will be a big hit. If I didn't have the amp...... thanks for the share
  23. I got interesting results from an SE X1 condensor and the Aston Halo reflection filter I use for vocals. I think best result was with the halo over the soundhole with the mic pointing towards the neck joint.
  24. I haven't been on here for a while, 6 months, I can't believe how worse it's become on here, ALMOST like TB, almost. Mostly much better What I said was "it's not as bad as if someone who actually owns (and plays it) gets it stolen". sheesh
