1. I know this is a dumb question but as I have never seen one of these in the flesh or in a shop I have no idea how to pronounce Maruszcyzk. I'd like to be enlightened.
2. Is Mac plying one in this photo of wings?
3. That would be really interesting to do. However won't there be a problem of the Starcaster body being designed for a short scale neck and a jazz neck being long scale? The bridge position need to be different and don't the Fender bodies come drilled for a bridge?
4. Great looking and sounding instrument, then I am already a Spector fan! I was slightly disappointed when they switched to Matt finishes on the Rebop, may be i' m just a bit old fashioned like that, but I guess Matt doesn't show the finger marks so much? Given the single pickup can you get the deep bass boom that you can from the earlier 2 pickup versions when you use the neck pickup?
5. I would hope so. Beautiful bit of maple topping. Reminds me of a Maruzcyk (or however it's spelt!)
6. Glad to see Fender have stabilised the necks better with an extra screw. Like the chandelier!
7. Nice looking bass, think the control knobs spoil the look though.
8. I had a Washburn guitar that looked kinda PRSish but had that same weird pointy headstock on it. What were their designers thinking of. The headstock got broken off though when it fell over so be careful.
9. I totally agree that so called acoustic basses are a waste of space, unless you have to have that full bodied look. You may be better off looking for a solid bodied bass with a piezo bridge like the Fishman. Fender Japan made the HMT with an f hole and a piezo bridge, some Yamaha TRBs also have them as does the Spector Spectorcore which I use. Can get a pretty good "acoustic" sound from it.
10. Probably the nicest looking Jazz Bass I've seen in a long while. Wish I could justify buying it.
11. I think you need to decide if you like a passive pickup sound or active. Really good all rounders for reasonable bucks are the Korean made Spectors Legend and Coda. The NS shape is really comfortable and much favoured by US metal band bass players.
12. The 5 string 51 P style has arrived at my brother's. Looks pretty good, he says it plays ok, might need to drop the action slightly and the tone pot does offer much variation.
13. These BaCH basses are beginning to become a family thing. My brother, another bass player, has ordered the five string in the style of a 51 precision in black and white.
14. Warwick offer the Star bass in daphne blue- similar to Pelham.
15. Something of the old Gibson RD about it too.
16. Don't they have a reputation for dodgy electrics?
17. If you can find them La Bella Low Tension flats would probably be ideal, they are also thinner than most flats so fit a nut cut for normal round wounds.
18.
it's not like Gibson are going out of their way to advertise or promote the new EB Bass. Although a couple of people are sat with it, it's not mentioned in the Gibson USA 2017 New Model Year video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v1aIPdOdXdI
Says it all really, a bit embarrassed to have it in their line up. However reading through this thread it does begin to sound like we're all suffering from a bad case of nostalgia.
19. Thanks Basvarken. Interesting info, Korea and Czech Republic seems a good combination. My 2 Spectors are one from Korea and one from the Czech Republic and both are cracking good basses, but cost a lot more than the BaCH.
20. Good find. I remember the Maya's being thought of as one of the better Jap copies . Strange to think that today we wouldn't call Japanese crap. I hope your going to keep the very cool bridge and pickup covers.
21. Thanks for this info Bassvarken. Perhaps you can clarify where they actually got them made up, the quality seems good, perhaps too good for China.
22.
Congrats. Hope you can get the bridge right. That could be a bit tricky. Here's my long scale BaCH semi acoustic I was torn between that gorgeous red and the natural, you obviously like these basses. How do find the balance between the front and rear pickups on the long scale? Presumably where you changed them to the Gibsons they balance well. Do prefer playing the short or the long scale and why both? And this is my short scale semi acoustic (with Gibson lo-z pickups)
23. Bridge was fitted by a local guitar maker I know who usually specialises in acoustics. However he did a cracking job, for a very reasonable price, it's up and working fine strung with Chrome flats. Hope to post some new pictures shortly. Interestingly the "mud bicker" type pickup isn't muddy, has a nice clear resonance and a reasonable range of tones , better than I expected.
