1.
get a squier and spend the rest on hookers
Cheap ones so you get more for your money
2. I used to hate the idea of a p with its fat wide neck but I tried a squier vm p and it was so lovely that I asked the bass doc to make me one that was a 73 replica P complete with nitro paint and jap parts.
3. I wouldn't bet on it - I did just this, plus stuffed it full of poly blocks and the Royal Mail still managed to fill it full of holes, and deny all claims for compensation because it wasn't packed to their stipulation in a hard case that was itself packed up in a specific way
4. ive been having a discussion with him about the economics of his buyig a large sheet of it. And its not really a starter. the story is that I ordered a bass from him with a black plate and he mistakenly sent me a bass with a brownish tort plate- the bass is otherwise as perfect as I could wish. He's a busy man and I did think I could live with brown tort, but I cant. Several people have commented that 3TSB/Maple/Black is authentic so I'll stick with black. I'm going to take the tort plate off and return it in favour of the black plate I originally wanted. (I also only paid for a black plate, tort is more)
5. Anyone have a source for plates in authentic red tort ?
6. Yes Torn between red tort and black myself. Y

10. Very glad that you're happy with it, Mr G. Hope the truss rod tweak sorted things out. Lovely and quiet bass, isn't it ? It was sitting next to my desk all day whilst I waited for mr g to come over and my work colleague was very, very jealous of it. But then he's from the dark side so what can you say?

16. You need to check resistance also - less ohms is better. Check from bridge to earth pin, from pickup shielding to pin
