Why not get a pre-drilled enclosure and a decent footswitch and migrate the insides of the Behringer?
The Behringer is plastic with a metal base. In all honesty, unless there's an elephant running around on stage you're not gonna break it. I think peeps are more concerned about Behringer's reputation for unreliability.
  2.
Badass bridges, good on Jazzes, crap on Precisions. Simples
Hi Chris, I think I agree with you on that but I'm interested to hear why you think that's the case - please expand! Col ps - still loving the Ibby!
  3.
Is that a type of real ale?
PMSL!!
  4.
Pretty sure it was a Gibson, anyone know what model? It looked and sounded great!
+1 it did look and sound fab - on the very first shot of him he yanked the neck up though!!
  5. Two of the Warwicks on here have sold over the last coupla days - here's a third time lucky bump!
  6. The switch is active/passive and I think the dual concentric knob is bass cut and boost (big wheel) treble cut and boost (little wheel).
  7. I had a BD121 and it packed up. I think it was worth the gamble though at the price. I've had three bits of Behringer kit that either broke down or were faulty on receipt, however I've got one of their power amps that's been faultless and quite pokey to boot. Had a desk for a while, that although a bit underpowered was totally reliable!
  8.
If you're getting repeated problems with blowing drivers you may be pushing them with too much bass. I re-read your original post and see that you say you put the Kappas in there yourself. If the reflex tuning is suited to a speaker with different specs then you may well have a complete mismatch which first means the bass response will be screwed (perhaps forcing you to turn up too much and burn out the voice coil) and second means that probably the speaker isn't being protected from overexcursion at the correct frequencies when you do drive it hard. You can't just mix and match speakers and cabs without tweaking the cabs to suit the drivers, by changing the size/length of the reflex ports. I think the kappa pros are probably quite good for bass cabs - get something like WinISD and have a play around, or have a look online for reflex cab designs built around them. Eminence may publish some designs themselves. Apologies if this is a grandma-sucking-eggs type post!
Absolutely not Laurence, I realised that different cones suited different cabs well but not to the point that the cones could actually be damaged. I thought it just affected the sound! Thanks :-)
  9. I don't really do fives but I've got one of these . . . just in case! And they're really nice basses - free bump!
  10. Oh that's interesting - I'll maybe have to see about securing mine a little more securely!
  11.
You need to check for resistance across the speaker terminals, not voltage! Should read about 5 or 6 ohms. If nothing, then most likely the speaker is toast, unless you can see a break where the wires join the terminals which might be repairable. If it's fried, you could probably get a recone, depends how much the kappas are versus the cost of reconing. EDIT: Oh, and do it when the speaker's not plugged into an amp.
OK Laurence thanks - I checked for resistance and there's nothing. That's the second blooming driver that's gone in this pair - not sure if it's the same actual one - could something be wrong with the crossover or have I just hammered them too much? The speakers are pretty much redundant to be honest so guess it'll make a nice big paperweight!! Now - what to do with the other driver? Are these speakers good for bass cabs?
  12.
He uses these amps I think...
That's correct Joe although I believe it's the 400W heads. Col
  13. Not strictly backline but . . . . I got a pair of Peavey PA speakers that I've loaded with Kappa 15 pro's. One of them is putting sound out of the tweeter but not the woofer. I've put a multimeter across the terminals - can't find any voltage but there seems to amps there (sorry I'm not much of electricity buff!). However - whichever way I put the probes on the terminals - the amps are popping the needle against the stop. I'm assuming that as I'm reading 'something' at the speaker terminals, then it must be the speaker that's gone kaputt? Would that be the considered opinion of the experts out there? And I'm assuming that if the speaker is shot, there's nothing I can do about it except replace it? Any thoughts? Cheers!
  14.
not knocking the sale or anything as it seems a reasonable ask to me but...what Muse sound would that be...? just curious as it seems very heavily affected to me and the amp chain seems irrelevant just sayin'
Thanks for that JTUK. You're probably right. OK folks - I'm not gonna bother to edit it - but if you really want the Muse sound you need to buy shedloads of effects and be able to play as well as Chris Wolstenhome. Please note - buying this cab WILL NOT make you sound like Chris. Is everybody clear on that? Sorry mate you caught me on a bad day!
  15. OK - here's your chance to get a piece of that lovely Muse tone without having to fork out for a whole stack! For sale is Marshall 72410 - 4 x 10 combo in IMMACULATE condition. The cab part of this combo is rated at 4 ohms so you get the full 200 Watts. This amp series is unusual because the power supply is set up so that peak power is reportedly 10 times the RMS rating - unlike conventional amps where it's usually around double (please be gentle with me on this - tech heads - it's how I understand it!) It features a blendable tube/solid state front end, graphic and on board compressor - see the link and pics for more info. More info can be found here: http://www.marshallamps.com/downloads/file...20hbk%20Eng.pdf This combo has been sitting round a mate's place unused for a few years - consequently it's in 'as new' condition. It had a few crackly pots when I got it, but I've taken the head out and cleaned all the pots and jack sockets so now is fine. It comes with a nice padded cover that looks like it's made to fit the combo. The only reason I'm selling this is because it's a bit big for my needs - I usually have to transport the PA as well as my bass rig - being the singer, and I can't fit it all in with this thing!! Here's the pics: Looking for [s]£350[/s] £250 firm collected from Milton Keynes - no trades please - I need to downsize! Thanks for looking, Col

  17.
Or you could use Dunlop strap locks which are the best around.
+1 - Dunlops are the best (IMHO). I seen our old guitarists schallers come apart twice.

    Sans Amp BDDI

Dp those of you who use a BDDI reckon the effected tone is compressed?
  19.
Mine turned out to be an electrolytic capacitor on the power supply - also fixed!!
Was that one of the two massive black caps - if so was same as mine - symptoms were a massive drop in volume whenever I hit a loud note.
  20. I just watched the show and enjoyed. The Phil Colilns thing didn't really do it for me and I still think Boy George can't sing. But I enjoyed the Ronson thing overall, enjoyed The manics, Klaxtons and Queen Emily. Don't know much about Trumpet but herp quickly downed it when he couldn't get into Happy Birthday - and on his slot he seem ed to be having some trouble making the notes properly - but I still enjoyed it! What was the bass the guy in Manics was playing? Looked groovy and didn't sound too bad - although a telly production is maybe not the best representation. BTW all the above observations were enhanced by the bottle of wine I won at the gig raffle on Saturday night!!
