  1. I used to have the passive version of this. Great bass. My son used to play in a band (Lionsex) who’s singer went under the moniker of ‘Jeff Leppard’!
  2. You won’t get much drive out of them but otherwise, the graphic makes them very versatile so yeah I’d say so.
  3. Another lovely Trace head for sale. This one has the 7 band EQ with a 300W amp. I've gigged this extensively with Stray and it's never sold me short. Internally, this has the 'Bi Polar Bear' power section, which was known to self destruct. This has been checked over and modded by my tech who has ensured the earth connection is solid with a star washer, and he's also coated a component inside with heat resistant compound, which prevents false temperature readings screwing up the bias. This was an official Trace Mod which is known to make these amps reliable. It's got the Trace tone in spades and plenty of volume. Two pre shapes and the ability to 'tilt' the EQ to make it either treblier or bassier, along with the well spaced 7 band switchable EQ. This one has come out of a rack, so comes with rack ears but no rubber feet (stick on feet readily available at your local hardware store!) £225 for this one collected from Milton Keynes - willing to drive a little way for fuel.

  4. Hello - enjoy your journey to the deep end!
  5. Go on . . . . you know you want to!! I'm about to post an ad for another Trace head so you might even end up with two!!
  6. Your chance to own a piece of UK amplification history - a lovely AH250 Amp with the classic GP12 SMX Pre-amp. This one is equipped with a heat sink rather than a fan so is quiet enough for a studio but most definitely loud enough to gig with. It encompasses two pre shapes, blendable valve and Solid State pre's and dual band compression. In good order with everything working, comes in a tolex covered heavy duty sleeve. Note - one of the bolts that holds the amp in the sleeve is missing. There's some velcro stuck to the top of the sleeve. Looking for collection from Milton Keynes on this one - would be prepared to drive a reasonable distance for fuel. £250 and it's yours!

  8. I’m very tempted by one of these!
  9. How do you find the pre in the z3 vs the z7. Can you cut the treble on the z3 or is it boost only?
  10. Sometimes it’s better just not to comment.
  11. My mate plays sax and geetar in a Madness/Specials tribute. The fabulous Grayson White - named himself after a department store!
  12. I recently shifted six (yeah six!!) basses through BB. Some they bought outright and some they sold on commission. Great service, nice guys, good stock!
  13. In my view the heavy amps are practical to use despite their weight. It’s the cabs that are back breakers. If you wanna go down that road might be an idea just to buy an old trace pre and pair it with an amp of your choice but sounds like a lot of ball ache to me.
  14. Personally I’d go for the CV (I have a Chinese one) due to the flatter fretboard profile.
  15. Is postage an option?
  16. Not mine but just spotted this on Faceache: https://www.facebook.com/share/p/17Z5LT9Wuz/?
  17. Still available? I’m guessing it’s light weight?
  18. Old School Trace heads with modern lightweight cabs is the way to go I reckon! My rig from Sunday . . .
  19. Not 100 per cent sure - need to do some further investigation. Can't be the amp as I was feeding in ears directly from my Stomp XL - So could also be the stomp or the headphone amp.
  20. Ive used four different wireless systems over the years and they've all seemed to suffer from some distortion (not the nice kind) particularly when digging in with high output basses. I was gigging last night with a passive jazz (quarter pounder pups) and even with that I noticed it a couple of times when playing hard over the bridge pickup. I'm wondering if this a 'thing' with wireless systems that we just have to live with or whether it's just the systems that I've used and need to splash out a bit of dosh on something better. So far I've used a Senheiser Freeport, Line6 G30, Xvive and currently on Lekato WS50. I'd be interested to hear your opinions and learn from your experience. Cheers.
