1. Definitely one of those eye of the beholder jobs. Ugly as sin!
2. Personally, I would say they are one of the true greats. Simple, catchy, formulaic, all key ingredients to draw people in to a song and few do it better. Only thing I would say is they are in danger of buying their own hype recently, in danger of heading down the U2 route. No better band to cover if you want to entertain the most people.
3. Genuinely enjoyed that! Nice to see some Schecter love too.
4. No experience, but it looks like a great service for big businesses, in no way designed for amateur musicians. I can see that venue quickly running out of bands willing to play there. I certainly wouldn't.
5.
There is a big issue with couriers and lack of insurance though. I don't think any will insure a bass in transit, although I'd love to be proved wrong.
UPS, great service and much lauded round these parts.
6. I found this thread: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/21066-axe-bass-guitar/

8.
I'm coming to Manchester to hang around in some lifts. I shall do... Ta!
I must admit I'd hang around in lifts too if the music was played this well
9. Nicely played but made me think I was on hold whilst stood in a lift.
10. My band are only rehearsing at the mo, first gig in December. We have the most unusual problem of not being able to hear the guitars! Loud drummer, bass and vocals sitting nicely, and no matter how much we ask the guitarists to turn up we can't hear them. Must be a first.
11. Definitely agree with others, if it says delivered then it isn't in customs, it is delivered. Check your neighbours.
12. When buying a boutique bass you are paying for a bespoke bass custom made to your requirements. As the second owner, it is just someone else's used bass (albeit a very nice one), not anywhere near as special. Second hand values are about a lot more than actual quality. More influenced by the perceived reliable quality a brand name carries.
13. I like the option of throwing things at the drummer. I may take this up. I had a teacher who used to throw board rubbers when we misbehaved. Same principle I feel.
14. I'm interested. As mentioned, as a noob would be unsure where to start but would be happy to organise if anyone could give me some pointers. There are plenty of reasonably priced rooms around east Manchester where I live if bringing our own munchies is doable.
15. I'm amazed this is still in offer! Brilliant deal.
16. I love these! This and westone rail bass are my crazy basses of choice to GAS for.
17. Not till December so loads of practice time to come yet. And I hardly ever drink so no problems there. I think our main worry is our guitarists are too quiet, how often does that happen!?!
18. I listen to a lot of rock. The times I think "I love the bass tone on this" it is always a p bass. I used to own a MIM with quarter pounders, had to sell it as I needed the cash but regret it, lovely thing. They are indeed the shizz.
19. I've got the 2x8 version, had it six months, has worked faultlessly. Love the lightness, love the tone, love the toneprints. It only has one toneprint accessible from the amp but two with the foot switch. Icm 17 stone and sit on it regularly, never an issue. We have a pretty loud drummer, with my Warwick it easily matches him at 11 o'clock on the volume and sounds incredible. With my mate's Traben I have to max it and struggle to get a nice tone. The 2x8 does come with a speaker out. It runs at 175 watts through internal speakers and 250 watt with extension cab. I have an Ashdown 4x8 which gives it a good bass boost, deeper tone and a good chunk more volume. The tone is pretty epic without the ext. cab though.
20. Incidentally, my ex wife could probably do a better job of swapping pickups, I can pass on her number if anyone is interested.
21. http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/ESP-LTD-B-206SM-6-STRING-BASS-ELECTRIC-GUITAR-TOTALLY-UNTESTED-SPARES-REPAIR-/371459460255?nav=SEARCH What in God's name happened to this poor thing? The taped on pickup, the damage that made me let out a whimper of sorrow! what a waste of that lovely spalted maple. I know some folk don't agree with 6 strings on a bass but this is too much! Someone should do something...
22. Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounder all the way. Had one in my MIM P bass, loved it.
