1. Nice to make your acquaintance! Luvly bit of the world is Blackpool. My grandparents used to live in a caravan near the Ernie building.
2. My guitarist buddy doesn't understand why I want to be in a band if I don't want the limelight. I love playing music, have no interest in being the guitar hero up front. That and the trouser flapping power. And the groove. Always the groove.
3. Thanks for all the replies. I was kinda hoping you'd put me off but now I think I'm going to have to pull the trigger! Will let everyone know what I think when I buy it.
4. I bought a harley benton guitar cab in January and am pleasantly surprised how good it is. had a curious look at their basses on the off chance and found this: http://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_pb_50_sb_vintage_series.htm?sid=016035ddb050f26c0494fe6c3d21f5e0Hought It seems to review really well, Wilkinson pickup, all for £86 delivered. My first thought is it must be awful for that price but the reviews are full of people saying otherwise, and some bbasschatters seem to like Harley Benton stuff. I play a Warwick Vampyre atm but fancy a backup that is a different style but not got a lot of cash to splash. So, can it really be a half decent bass for £86? opinions please!
5. I started at 38, 3 years ago. Best thing I've ever done. Going great, in a band and loving every minute! Hope you enjoy it.
6. The me50b is a whole world away from the me20b. I've used both. The 20b was one of the worst pedals I've ever used, plastic, nasty, hard to use and sounded awful. The 50b is much better made, much easier to use due to the individual knobs and sounded far better. I realised I don't use enough effects to make it worthwhile. For me, individual pedals will always sound better once you've spent a fortune finding the ones you like. Big disadvantage is the romance you have to do to change sounds. Pedal board she sound good if you get a good one, and once you find the right sound you can save it as a patch for one click changing.
7.
There's an acoustic night at the Hark To Towler in Tottington tonight. Don't think I'll be able to go, but they're a friendly bunch.
My guitarist's missus organises that! She plays the bass too. Been along once, it's a friendly night and you can jam without worrying if you mess up.
8.
I have a TC Electronics BG250 which isn't cheap, but is smallish, light and powerful and sounds beautiful across the range. It also has other handy practice stuff like a built in tuner, aux in and headphone socket.
I have the Tc bg250. Absolutely wonderful amp but sounds good from a quarter on the volume dial. By that time my mate is already complaining from two floors down.
9. She is definitely one of my bass heroes.
10. I always find my Saint Ettienne album on the first day of spring and promptly lose it as soon as summer ends. Happens every year. Odd, but works well, very summery music.
11. My mate bought a guitar and I fell in love with it. Never realised instruments could look so cool! Decided right then to buy one but loads of my friends already played guitar so I decided bass would be more sensible as I'd have more chance to get in a band. Also i've always loved songs with cool bass lines since I first got into music. I still think I made the right choice, much prefer feeling what you play rumbling through the floor.
12. I personally can't stand single coils! All that shrill chirpiness. Give me a humbucker with balls any day. I think the quality of humbucker is a big point, I have Seymour Duncan Blackouts and Gibson Dirty Fingers in my guitars and never find them muddy or indistinct, quite the opposite.
13. Inspiral Carpets milk bottle from when they had adverts on in the early nineties.
14. UPS is definitely the way to go. Cheapest if booked through interparcel.
15. The pic on his Twitter looks real! I'd be happier paying by PayPal or card though, more protection.
16. The great Billy Sheehan reccomends all bass players learn guitar too. Much better to write songs on for a start. Also, always helps you better understand your bandmates.
17. Only $1500? Where is that buy it now button...
18. The thought of locking my bass away where I can't gaze lovingly upon it does not sit well with me.
19. I had a hohner arbor p bass for a bit that had that exact bridge. Found it a bit fiddly to restring.

21. My tc bg250 has one built in and my guitar has one built in. All I ever need.
22. I forgot Morrisey! Just the thought of twirling gladioli makes me want to smash things.
