1. I had a Traben Array Obsession. Loved it. Really well made, sounded good and looked stunning. Sold it to my mate who uses it as his main gigging bass. Budget wise, I recently had a Yamaha rbx370 pass ing through, top quality bass for sub £100, can't go wrong.
2. Bit pricey imo! These go for less in better condition usually.
3. I buy and sell a lot on eBay. Buy on auctions, sell on buy it now. Do your research, check sold items to get a realistic market value and set your buy it now accordingly. Don't go near an auction if you are selling is my advice. People will pay a little more on a buy it now as it gives them time to convince themselves they want to pay that amount and they don't have the unpredictability of whether they will win an auction. Just keep the price realistic.
4. Sweet emotion by Aerosmith every time for me, then something by The Doors.
5. How does Jimi Hendrix like his donuts?
6. Their eBay username is traderfiasco. Apt
7. I bought my Warwick, ten years old off eBay. Two days later, same thing happened. Seems from forums Warwick tuners aren't great and often wear out. I bought a complete New set from Thomann to make sure it didn't happen again mid gig.
8. I never really considered Warwicks till I got this on evilbay for a steal. Is now my only bass, sold all my others! Genuinely love it. Plats beautifully, feels beautiful and sounds superb. Defi itely a better bass than I will ever be a bass player. It's a Vampyre sn.
9. It's true! Just needs a quick squirt and work it into the shaft.
10. +1 on the Servisol switch cleaner. I use it on amps and guitars / basses. Never fails. I call it magic spray! Sorts stiff knobs aswell.
11. Hello! I'm still very much in the learning from people bit. Lots of good threads on here. Glad you found the bass, they are better value for money than guitars. More wood and thicker strings.
12. I actually learned on a Schecter 5 string! Eventually sold it as i always found the strings a little too close together. I got a 4 string Fender P bass, found it a lot easier to play. The band I play with like things really low and was really missing the low notes from my 5er. Got a Warwick 5 string and love it! All the flexibility I missed and the strings are that little bit wider. Wouldn't want to drop tune a 4 bagger, that would just pickle my head. 5 strings all the way for me, was just about finding one that suits me.
13. They've been hawking this guitar for ages: http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/351330553716?nav=SEARCH I can't for the life of me think why nobody has snapped this up for £250.
14. There is a report item button on ebay where you can report fakes. Used it a few times but never seen an item removed.
15. Bought two guitars off them a while back. One arrived with lacquer cracks on the neck joint. They were really helpful and got a partial refund with no trouble. I'd happily shop there again.
16. I've been using UPS through Interparcel quite a bit since i saw them reccomended on a thread here. Never had any problems, always collected and delivered on time. Be sure to avoid parcelforce as they don't cover musical instruments on their insurance.
17.
I much prefer ante noctem decedere felem ex. Are we awaiting for a call from Mr Hall's lawyers for allowing a duplicate Rickenbacker thread?
Especially as the copy thread is better than the original.
18. Good taste in gear! I've never played a Westone or Trace but regularly get some good GAS for them. Welcome.
19.
I played bass for two years before picking up a guitar. I wanted to learn guitar as a tool for composition, and have managed to achieve a good enough standard to be able to play whatever's in my head. I don't rate myself as a guitarist (certainly wouldn't dare play it live), but all the guitarists I've worked with have been surprisingly complimentary about my playing. Whether or not it would benefit every bassist to learn a bit of guitar (or other chordal/melodic instrument), I don't know. If you're content playing covers, arguably it's academic whether you understand why you're playing what you're playing. As has been mentioned, a basic knowledge of drums might be more use, certainly for encouraging cohesive playing. Jon.
I watched an interview with Billy Sheehan recently. He said pretty similar, you should learn guitar to compose songs on.
20. Just bought an Ashdown 408 cab off Mike. Top bloke, helped out by bringing it to a gig he was playing which was much nearer my house. Great cab, works a treat, perfectly as described.
21. I would suggest we all get together and make an ageing pop punk phenomena but i don't think a band full of bass players would be that good!
22. I'm 40 and my mate's always taking the mick out of me for listening to Blink! I'd love to play in a pop punk band .
23. I have a definite dose of GAS for Westone Rail basses.
24. I saw the photo and the price and thought it was a 2x12, I think my eyes popped out cartoon stylie when i realised they wanted £600 for a desktop amp! Eagerly awaiting buying a used one from the one crazy person who buys one. Pretty though
25. I have one of these, is great. GAS is causing me to consider another! Are you in Oxford?
