1. There's a line of Peavey flagship basses in front of me while I play a £70 Harley Benton PB-50. Course a SC P-bass is hardly a cutting edge design so £70 bass & tapes does the trick grand. Actually have 2 of them, the other sports TI's and a Peavey Ferrite SC. Not because the Wilkinson is bad but because I had a spare Ferrite ( one with tapes is stock)
2. Ped There was the B-Quad 5 string. That's the Brian Bromberg bass. Serious bit of kit ! Modulus made graphite neck, mono & stereo output, piezo bridge. Piezos have individual pan for stereo and trim pots. Have the 4 string version myself. Lovely bass and there just happens to be a B-Quad 5 on eBay Italy. http://www.ebay.it/itm/PEAVEY-Bquad-5-string-electric-bass-basso-elettrico-BRIAN-BROMBERG-Model-bajo-/152119734394?ssPageName=ADME%3AL%3ALCA%3AIT%3A1123 They're not cheap, seem to remember they were the most expensive bass Peavey made. Also look at the G-V bass. Never had the neck off my again 4 string version so not sure it's 100% graphite. I imagine it is though if G stands for graphite
3. @Twincam It's about 25-30 mile. Want me to see if he's still got it ? I saw them advertised in Guitarist mag early 80 and labeled it a fad, like the Hipshot D-tuner & Badass bridge. It's OK I'm not a betting man £20 back then rings a bell. Can't have taken off and patent must have expired cause Peavey have a similar thing on the new Milestones only it's called "Powerplate" Sod sustain,it's for guitar players when they hit the right note.
4. I remember these from years back. Don't remember anybody using them though https://www.gumtree.com/p/guitar-instrument/fathead-brass-sustain-plate-for-fender-jazz-precision-basses/1173389224
5.
If all of them were killed in a bus crash tomorrow I don't think the world of music would pine for them.
True but I fear there's more waiting in the wings.
6. The man's a fool.
7. Another set of flats coming from Dan. Easy fella to deal with. He lists stuff I want,I pay and he sends it out pronto Doesn't get much easier than that edit Dan texted me Thursday morning saying strings were on the way. Saturday the wee lassie from My Hermes handed them over. Didn't I say it was easy !!
8. Aye they're cheap enough when they do come up. $300 looks about the norm in the states. After getting robbed by paypal's exchange rate this was £330 delivered, damn we live in an expensive country. Even the UK shipping quote was high, I got £48 but Jogi's was 40euro. He split the cost 50/50
9. Totally agree,its a daft name 😂
10. Congratulations on the Yamaha. Will be keeping fingers crossed you find the correct knob.
11. Never saw the Cirrus but I have the exact same G-bass with the black sparkle finish. Was blissfully unaware it was 35" until recently The Cirrus though is a beauty.Would have thought they'd have went with the micro-tilt,it having single saddles.Easier than a shim. I ground down the posts on my BXP Cirrus neck thru to lower the action. That fella's got the Millennium preamp too. Extra sweet
12. Thanks @alyctes Got to spend some more time with it tonight, pickups are too high below G. You come across many Axecelerators on your travels ?
13. I was a bit miffed with Parcelforce this week. They're bloody slow and misinform customers. Got a bass from Germany, shipped with GLS. Took 27 hr to travel 1000Km (long way) and passed through 3 depots. Hit the UK and took Parcelforce 30 hr to go half the distance with only 1 depot, was lying in Edinburgh unprocessed for another 12 hours when I collected it. Shame they have the monopoly on international deliveries as they're crap.
14. It's happened again Another unplanned Peavey. On Sunday night a good friend called with some bad news, terminal cancer and less than 3 months to live. This was bad enough but something he said that struck a chord. He recently fixed up his 2 motorcycles and we are experiencing unusually good weather in Scotland, sadly he's too sick to enjoy his bikes in the short time left. Having an almost complete Peavey collection I don't want to run out of time before it's finished. I'd been looking for an Axecelerator but hit some problems, GC won't ship used goods overseas,my cousin in America can't be bothered to purchase one for me and a recent one on Ebay.de felt like a scam ! I only know one Axecelerator owner in the UK but I'm at a loss as to why they're so scarce. Light weight, low action due to the combination of Peavey neck and micro tilt, 35" scale so a good B string and 18V preamp. Well on Sunday bassic.ch member jogi68 came to the rescue. He had a lovely purple 5 string for sale and was happy to ship to Scotland So Scotland's Peavey clan has a new brother. Managed about a half hour and I'm impressed, don't normally play 5 strings but the Wilkinson adjustable bridge will help if I struggle with string spacing.First Purple bass too Enough yakking here's the photos
15. I've dealt with Music-Point.DE via eBay. Based in Germany. Uwe was a pleasure to deal with.
16. Just " Many " is the safest way to say it
17. Just the kind of review I like to read. Cheers Mark
18. @alyctes the BXP 34" vs 35" confused me too My Cirrus and Grind are the exact same size, until I measured the frets. Longer frets on the Grind. Never knew the G-bass was 35" until recently, then only cause i read the manual Think I'd notice on a 6 string but not on a 4, from 1st on G to 5th on E is just 6mm longer. On a 6 it could be maybe 12mm Mark The 10lb T-40 is definitely a lightweight, the other 2 are 12lb +. But mind they balance well. Wide strap and a back harness you'd be good to go
19. Very tasty T-40 came to stay today. In absolutely excellent condition for a 32 year old bass, this my first T-40 with blades just tips the scale at 10lbs. Time will tell if I prefer the blades to toasters. Lovely bass. It was joined by a Custom shop Cirrus. Now I was impressed by the BXP,some folks give them a hard time but seeing you can pick them up for £150 + I'd advise those folk not to eat at Pizzahut ( Dec 2014 Portsmouth, 4 pizza,3 lagers 1 coffee £97),personally I think the BXP is a good buy. The USA adds another inch and an improvement in materials. It's also about 4 x the price. The custom shop adds more refinement with wooden TR and cavity covers, very nice choice of top and the Millennium preamp. This gives you variable mids. I'd heard quite a few American Cirrus owners say this was a good upgrade but with Peavey having very limited stocks and the $127 price tag + shipping and taxes it looked like an upgrade I'd be missing. Not now I won't Over the next wee while I'll string them the same so I can compare my T-40s and Cirri, only managed half hour with each. For now feast your eyes folks
20. Never heard of anyone using fake " Peavey" logos. I feel left out
21. Wow. I remember seeing one get a mention years back in Guitar Player. Wasn't that price I'm damn sure.
22. Got a set of La Bella flats from Guy. Top Fella.
23. Absolutely stunning work there Alan, sure to go down a storm at the show. http://www.holygrailguitarshow.com/
24. Some of the USA custom shop Cirrus had the Millennium preamp fitted and I've heard quite owners who rate it. Last year I think Peavey had less than 40 units left and they were around $117.
25. Here's my Blueshift II with quite a bit of wear to the finish. Tempted to sand it back and give it a coat of oil. Still playing and sounding well.
