1.
If it works on the Low B then I'll have one. None of the others do. At least not properly.
Same here.
2. Thanks Dad. If not Absolutely Curtains for this thread it is at least Another Brick in the Wall in curtailing its longevity. It would be so Nice. Some of the posts are defitinitely showing Your Possible Pasts
3. Ummagumma start a band too. Not sure what name to call it yet.
4. If the pedal worked; not worry about it. It is just a box
5.
That's a bit of an odd attitude from your tutor considering the vast majority of electric bass recorded and performed has been on a Fender P or J. What is it that he can't stand about the sound?
Despite being set up by his suggested luthier, he believes the notes on both to be inconsistent, personally I cannot hear it and neither can the luthier. On the basis the tutor has got me through 4 bass grades without issue, I cannot be bothered to argue. He is also keen that I do not swap between basses.
6. Thanks to my music tutor, I play my second hand G&L 90% of the time. My tutor can't stand the sound of my Fender Jazz or P basses and I am not proficient enough on my Stingray 5 to play that with an exam looming.
7. I buy mine through the magazine store on my iPad. Once I have read the literally 2-3 articles that interest me, I can delete it.
8. I have one but to be honest only used it briefly as I can get what I want from my RH750. It is good and is still on the pedal board but no longer part of the chain. On the other hand, it is currently a keeper. One negative comment is that it is not a quick fix to change the settings per EQ band, so you do need to get each of the programmes set for your wanted sound before the session.
9. One "matching" strap per guitar. Each adjusted to keep the basses at the same place relative to my body
10. I went to see / hear a friend of mine sing recently at a charity gig they have performed at for the last three years. They are generally a good quality semi -pro band. For some reason that night the lead guitar had been drinking too much beforehand, and it showed. The band started one song in three different keys (keyboards were out too), the singer stopped them and restarted. The restart was good then the lead guitar whent off piste again. The singer stopped them and they gave up that song (one which they did know and had played before). They later played a request of Stairway to Heaven, sometime during the main guitar solo, the lead sustained a note for far too long and continued to whilst he climbed onto the drummer's platform, sipped some wine, came back down and moved on. The facial expressions of the other band members were quite something The relevance here for me is that sadly I remember those parts of the gig and not the great stuff they did either side. To be fair there were a few people dancing at end so perhaps they got away with it; do you want to take that chance?
11. London booked and happy to do a curry beforehand.
12. I have the 2i4 and it has the same issues re headphones amp and direct monitored sound, it just does it with more instruments :-)
13. My two LMS are quite different, one has very little in the way of bass and is mostly guitars and keyboards. No bass amps usually. Very sadly it has downsized to half the size it was and I suspect was purely to try and make a business case to continue. Having said that I did get my Fender P Bass from them in stock (one of only 5 bass guitars they had in entirety) and subsequently ordered my Fender Jazz through them. I try to support when possible. The second LMS is a small warehouse with a recording studio attached and carries more bass kit, but it is extremely budget stuff with one or two second hand higher end pieces occasionally appearing. I have to travel to Northampton for PMT for a better, although imho still limited, selection. Bass Direct are only 35 miles from me so they are an option, but I have yet to go there. I tried to get hold of some strap locks from the first place, they had nothing. I picked up some Schaller ones from the second shop at £22 for a pair. Subsequently I bought another pair online for £ 10. That sort of no stock / economics does make it tough to support any LMS though.
14. Ooh! tough this one, probably my Jazz, although my still to be mastered Stingray V HH would perhaps pip it at the arrival at the island. Assuming of course, I would have an amp, electricity and an endless supply of 9v batteries!
15. I too have the ditto looper x2. Not used it much but a great piece of kit.
16.
It's ok I got shot at, the guy didn't hit me.
A completely different issue, you are talking about a person being shot at; this relates to an inanimate object that is replaceable. Perspective.
17.
TimR the fact the bass was fine, was more due to luck than judgement. Had it been your NBD and you found your new bass had been thrown over the fence and left out in the rain, with someone fraudulently signing receipt, would you really have the same opinion?
I am with Tim on this. Nothing happened - what damages has the OP suffered as a result of this specific action? None other than forum induced stress about what may have happened but did not. On a side note, I live in the middle of nowhere and am very happy if a parcel is signed for and left by the courier or postman. I am out 15hrs a day and have no time to collect from a collection centre. Unless I have instructed the delivery firm to leave in my absence, I know I would have a case with the delivery people. Yes I am impatiant, but also pragamatic.
18. As a small child I saw BB King sing a song with a line of lyrics that were ingrained in my mind since then. It took me 30 years of searching (pre internet) before I found the song. The lyrics are: "I've got a good mind to give up living And go shopping instead" From All Over Again. A real music hero of mine and probably my main reason for getting into blues music. RIP BB
19. I am stuck on this one. My tutor says the volume should be all the way to 11, the local luthier says no, keep something in reserve.
20. It seems to me to be only good for one string, mind you it became famous as the tuner in a well known Del Shannon tune Is this the updated Dunlop Greenflash? Hops away quickly......
21. I thought this thread was about a down market version of the famous Cuban Band.
22. Anything by Boney M or Dawn, Agadoo by Black Lace (or in fact anything by Black Lace). If I think some more, there will be many of this ilk to add to the list.
23. Throbbing Gristle and Die Toten Hosen (or in English: The Dead Trousers) are but two that come to mind. One of my father's bands also figures: The Gut Bucket. They were all surgeons but never the less, not, IMHO a good band name.
24. Hey Lloyd, I picked up bass last year at 52 and am doing the Rockschool music grades with a tutor. Yup, I will never be a world class player, but boy am I having fun. What us more mature people may lack in learning speed and agility is made up with doggedness to get it right! Never too late to start, unless you want to play in boy band without looking like the over friendly uncle!
