1. Well, what to say. Chris promised me some replacement Microsuction tape and it was there for me at home today. That is truly great service, thank you. This company deserves to grow. I managed 5 minutes with the unit tonight, and it did not disappoint. Full play at the weekend but so far all very impressive. Big thumbs up for both Chris and the kit.
2.
Hi Bobthedog, Very sorry to hear that. Not sure how that happened. There'll be some Microsuction tape in the post tomorrow. Regards Chris
Chris, thank you! That is customer service. Yup, there was just the sellotape (gluing the pages together) but not a huge issue.
3. Mine has just arrived. Sadly I will not get a chance to play with it until Sunday. It is also missing the Microsuction tape, any ideas as to a good replacement?
4. Sly and the Family Stone Pizza Oven ZZ Toppings Eclair Martin (not so well known perhaps) Not so Boney M Hank Muffin and The Shadows Donner Van
5. My wife and I have just sold two houses in Moray (well exchanged missives at least). A truly wonderful part of the world. I will be up there with my bass at the end of November. Welcome.
6. Just ordered one through Amazon along with the Neutrik adapter. I have never tried wireless before so looking forward to this.
7. I don't know any bands but one track that came to mind is "Weightier Shade of Pale"
8. I don't think I have posted this but have had it for a year or so.
9. D'Addarios on all my remaining guitars. EXL165-5 (45-135) on my MM, Chrome Flats 50-105 on my P Bass and EXL 170 (45-100) on my Jazz. I can't really see a need to change at the moment.
10. Well I have received the eMail for tickets and my wife tells me the dates may coincide with us being abroad next year!
11. I will be there for both days this time. Last year I did just Sunday and so missed all the Saturday masterclasses / performances. The show itself can be run through in a day, but the classes / performances are a must do for me.
12.
You have touched on multiple issues here. OK, "taking the easy way out" may have been a little harsh. But isn't sitting in your bedroom playing easier than dealing with all the issues the gigging bass guitarist has to deal with? The appreciation of applause to fulfill insecurities. I think that's a far reach for most. I would think the insecure one might chose the bedroom over the stage. Blue
I am not disagreeing or agreeing with you, just saying there are different measurements for different people and to (what appears to) judge them on your own metrics is a little harsh. Re the insecurities, many a stage performer is there for the adoration from the audience, just to feel good about themselves. It is not all about being shy.
13.
All I'm saying is playing in the bedroom is still taking the easy way out. Just because a guy doesn't care about the inconveniences of gigging doesn't change that. Do your saying the skill set it takes to be a live gigging musician is the same as the bedroom player? Blue
I enjoy your threads as they are thought provoking, however, to accuse a bedroom player as taking the easy way out comes across as if they are wrong. They are not, they may just have a differing view or ability to yours. Personally, anyone (and I am not saying you do) who gigs for the applause comes across to me as being insecure, but that does not make it wrong or worse than someone who plays for their own enjoyment in a bedroom. Different strokes for different folks. I like the idea of playing in a band, but I could not care a hoot if there is no audience or money in it.
14. I could be wrong but did not several funk / disco bands in the 80's do away with the bass for keys, hence the rise of the 5 string to get us back in? Anyway the answer is one, after they have asked about the thread spacing if it was a screw in bulb
15. My RH 750 does all that but for portability purposes, I am considering the Phil Jones Bighead headphone amp. It gets good reviews in last months Bass Guitar magazine. Alternatively my Scarlett 2i4 should also do that via my Mac and would be cheaper than the Bighead.
16. Down to three at the moment. This is due to a consolidation exercise that will result (in a couple of months) in one final bass guitar to end all GAS for ever (yeah right!) Fender American Deluxe Jazz with John East Retro Deluxe pre amp Fender American P Bazz with D'Addario flats Musicman Stingray V

18.
I think you miss the point there Discreet. It's about the principle & a matter of trust within a community. If we ain't got that, we're screwed. Judging by the weight of your reply I guess you'd do/have done exactly the same as the seller. If you're fine with that that's great for you & it's good to know who's up front & who ain't. I won't name the fella as it'll start a battle I don't intend dedicating days/weeks to. It's a nice guitar & the feeling will wear off soon I'm sure. We're all allowed a rant tho eh? & we've all got the option of ignoring threads that we don't agree with or wind us up.
Each will have their own view but I cannot see the issue here, you agreed to px the amp at a price you deemed correct. I do not see it as being the buyer's problem. If the buyer sells the item for a good return, I would suggest you undervalued it during the deal because GAS took over. Re Discreet, I recently sold him an item of which he was honest about flipping immediately should if not work for him. In reality he could have tried it and not done the deal if it did not work out. Nevertheless he decently did deal, did not get on with the item and so put it on sale: at less than he paid me for it. I do not see him as fitting in with your thought.
19. Thanks Hengis, I particularly like the roll eyes comment.
20. Still working on the set list but certainly will have fun.
