1. What is this thing called Love? Where Fugees at? How can I be sure? Where is my mind? Is you is or is you ain't my baby? What's a matter you? gotta no respect? Why Worry? and for the opera fans; Who bist du her?
2. Left handed and play racket sports (tennis etc) left handed. I play bat / club sports (golf / cricket etc) right handed. Electric bass right handed but upright would be played left handed. I learnt drums and trumpet right handed (probably due to scarcity of instruments rather than anything else). I am mildy left eye dominant but can shoot a rifle from either shoulder with no loss of accuracy. A shot gun has to shot left handed. I can only throw off my left shoulder but can catch with either hand. I can fish off either side. I can only write left handed but can use power tools / screwdrivers etc with either hand. In general I am confused. My father was right handed but played cricket and golf left handed.
3. I last saw that at Devil's Tower encouraging aliens to land!
4.
Voodoo Labs for me - rock solid, ultra low noise, top quality all round. Not the cheapest, but worth every penny.
Ditto for me
5. I would think that the Fender Rumble 500 v3 would fit the bill. It is certainly within your price band new. I had 10 mins on the 200 version and was pretty impressed.
6. An absolute yes from me for the metronome. I am taking lessons and also grade exams. The metronome helps me nail the more difficult parts when just playing the bass line from the books. I also have a drum machine, Boss DR-3 but do not use it much. For me it is just fun to have for noodling though. From a recent thread, I am very much alone in having lessons from a tutor, but for me they are essential. I have weekly lessons but do 30-45 minutes practice every night.
7.
I can collect it from MK during the day on Tuesday 11th. I can also get it to Poole, but give me a few days, maybe 10-14 ish
Grangur, that is a great offer, thank you. I am travelling back from Sussex the morning of 11th, so realistically would not be around until the early afternoon. Does that work? Perhaps switch to PM now.
8. I have promised a free bass stand to JJJack in Dorset (nr Poole), but am having trouble getting it to him from Milton Keynes / London economically. In return JJJack has offered a donation to a charity. As my wife is doing an event for cancer research in September, this works well. Is there anyone here who is prepared to act as a free courier or even a chain of couriers to get this close to him for him to collect? I can drop off anywhere withing reasonable distance of Milton Keynes / Buckingham or from the City of London. It will be boxed and is not heavy but is a five bass stand.
9.
Thank you for the responses and apologies for hijacking the original thread. I'm seriously looking into the VT500, my concern is that as it's such a new product it might be a while before I get my hands on one. I'm not so keen to buy another ashdown, for reasons I wont go into details here. Anyone have any experience of the TC stuff or GK digital amps?
I have the TC RH750 and RS212 x 2 and am very happy with the sound. It is warm and perhaps not as clean (although my John East pre amp may play a part in that) as some. but it works for me.

Just moved on my G&L to Mark - a good man, not only to do business with but also to have a chat to. Would deal with again.
11. If any thread titles of mine are used for a band name I claim copyright and demand 50% of all royalties! 😊
12. Any pics and what age is it please? Sorry just realised this is just the cab. Not for me.
13. No doubt there will be come back on this, but 750 watts (according to TCE!). RH 750 through two RS212s. Volume is usually around 0900 to 1000hrs on the dial. My practice kit is my only kit down south, although I do keep a 10watt Vox (a pile of sh... imho) in Scotland. I am looking at a Phil Jones Super Flightcase BG300 for exam / practice / jam with mates deal (when funds / priorities allow).
14. My new practice (!) rig as of today: the head is still a TCE RH750 but now have 2 x RS212s for the noise. So far am very happy with the sound. It is a dream with the Jazz but need to work on the sound with the Stingray. Poor iPhone photo
15. I just did a deal for WW's 2 x RS212 cabs. A good guy and was happy to stand around giving me a free gig lesson! The kit is exactly as he described it, although the sound is better than I thought! I would do business with him again, no problem.
16. Okay, so they are good for wood, but what about metal?
17. I sold a Roland Cube to my bass tutor because I did not like the sound. He loves it as did another pupil who bought immediately have played on my old one. Perhaps there is something too them.
18. All the standard names appear above. Here are just a few worthy mentions I have recently enjoyed listening to, even if not the world's best: Federico Malaman Divinity Roxx Sam Sims ( backed Bette Midler at the weekend) The bass player with Mark Ronson at Glastonbury
19. Jack, I have an Ashton GS55 heavy duty 5 guitar rack you can have for nothing more than collection / delivery costs. I have two, both only a couple of months old. The used one is showing some compression in the neoprene, but otherwise is in great shape. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Ashton-GS55-Heavy-Guitar-Stand/dp/B000OKSWB0
20. I listen to and feel so much music of all kinds. Here are three that come to mind today: https://youtu.be/r9jmusgMgro https://youtu.be/3DuCIGvsbMA https://youtu.be/YJfqte3NurI This last one was new to me in 2012 and I still shake at the beauty of this.
21.
I play loudly - often at full gig volume, especially if the Mrs is out. The neighbours can swivel! However,as they're a least 100m away and my walls are 3' stone rubble-filled I'd need to be playing through Motorhead's PA for them to hear me. Living in the middle of nowhere is excellent for playing loud music...
This for me too, although my ears cannot take gig volume in the room I use.
