Quote from SD Functions of switches on old-style "Active EQ" bass pickups We stopped making the switch pickups ("Active EQ") in the mid-'90s. We replaced them with the Pro-Active? series. The little rocker switches on the Active EQ pickups change the sound. Switch #1 shifts the coil resonance. On a Jazz Bass? neck pickup and a P Bass? pickup, the resonance moves downward from 22 KHz to 6.4 KHz. On a Jazz Bass bridge pickup, it move downwards from 17 KHz to 4.9 KHz. The effect is to give a more focused sound with a harder attack. Switch #2 gives a broad band bass boost of 4 dB for the Jazz Bass neck and P Bass pickups, and 5 dB for the Jazz Bass bridge. The switches can be a very effective tool for changing the tonal "character" of your instrument.

Had a trade lined up with Will, I sent my bass off to him but unfortunately it did not suit Will so he sent it back to me and refunded all my postage costs and expenses so we did not trade basses but person wise it was a smooth deal and that really cant be faulted so all is good here Would deal with Will again.

I think what gets me down with my playing is that I can honestly say I do not have any natural talent so what ever I achieve on my bass has come from lots of hard work and practice I think if I had some raw ability to start with I think i may be happy with my playing , sometimes I knock out a few tunes and think yeah who's the daddy lol but recently I think my playing has gone to pot since being unwell I think I have forgotten more than I know and sometimes I don't pick up my bass for days on end but I am really trying to "make" myself play a little every day even if it is messing about around the board

Buying/trading a used amp: would you expect a power cable?
Thunderbird replied to Roland Rock's topic in General Discussion
I voted yes as they come with them new so should really be sold on with one I have bought most of my amps second hand and they have always been sent with the lead -
Agreed. But my perception is that that is happening less often now. There seems to be quite a few (often non-UK) members who are selling quite a lot of gear (particularly basses) and have done for quite a long time, but have extremely post counts - implying that they don't venture out of the marketplace to get involved in discussions or share knowledge (one of the main advantages of BC IMO). Not that I'm saying that's wrong - I just perceive that there is more of it going on now than there was. It also means that the old caveat of "beware of buying from/selling to Newbies" has to be relaxed somewhat - as there are so many newbies!
I could not agree with this more but what can you do? And if I am honest I think it is a bit of a risk buying from a Newbie with no feedback but then on the other hand people with positive feedback can also be a waste of space
You can also get this very thin tape which is designed to be wrapped around screw thread. When the screw is err screwed into the hole, the tape binds and provides more friction and also fills any small gaps there may have been before. I can't remember what its called but it is similar in principle to plumbers tape to water-seal screw threaded pipes.
PTFE tape mate
You are aware that that is Stu's book...? So basically, you want to rip Stu off?
If you dont want to buy the book you can always request a copy from your local library then no one gets "ripped" off and everyone is happy -

There is another thread on this and I think it goes along the lines that the site admin did not want to block replies ...so really you can only blame the people who abused the items wanted section for the replies being turned off I know it is a bit annoying but what else could be done?
