Go clean with a little dirt - let the amp do the rest of the distortion or OD. Boost the mids and cut a little bit of low. I’ve been messing with the amp settings and got a reasonable grunge sludge sound out of it but again it’s subjective.

It's mostly down to taste and or equipment. The tapes recorded onto were not always consistent with speed. Same with records. YouTube has a lot of examples of tracks where people have corrected the pitch on them.

What processor is it? What ram? I might have an old board u can have.

Typically record yes just to review and see what it actually sounded like. Nice to pick out bits for further improvement etc

If I'm buying on gumtree I would make the offer and when it comes to the "when" part, I say I'll be there in 10 minutes so there's no time to backtrack and change minds etc The guy was just being greedy and had plenty of time to talk himself out of the sale.

Nothing you can do unfortunately eBay will turn a blind eye to this kind of scenario I had it before when I won auction - the seller said her kid broke it... Total bs as I saw it re listed a couple of days later.

My bass and guitar is cheap. The pedals not so much. However they are boss ones so good luck trying to destroy those. I've got all the serial numbers of them so if they get nicked.. Even my car is cheap. It's a 20 year old Toyota. Nobody will nick that and if that gets destroyed then I would just buy another £500 car and drive that until it stops. I go on the basis that everything is replaceable or serviceable. Whichever the cheapest. It's the painless way to go imo

Stick a compressor or limiter on it. That might make you play softer with no penalty to perceived loudness. Or try raising the bridge ? Chisel out the last fret? No fret no problem. You can't exactly play that fret anyway so do away with it if it's causing you grief and you can't be arsed to change techniques.
