  1. The Smiths at Dergate Northampton, arrived late, missed James as the support band doh! stayed for about 5 songs whilst everyone around me stood on one leg whirling Gladioli about, I though they are never going to take off doing that, left and went down the pub instead! Sisters of Mercy Rock City early 2000's ish, having seen them there on their first tour they were brilliant, this time they were dull and boring so we left!
  2. I owned one of these for all of about a week, I donated it to cat rescue after that, it was supposed to have been a B stock instrument which had apparently already been sold so they sent me a brand new one....given how bad the new one was I dread to think how poor the B stock instrument would have been! It arrived with the bridge pickup not wired up, an action you could through a blanket over and go camping! I wired it correctly set it up as best as could be done with it and got rid of it...for me this was a classic case of you get what you pay for!
  3. You might want to get the mods to move this to the amps for sale section!
  4. I am in, doing well so far, not brought anything yet, but finding the going tough, still Friday is only a couple of days away....be strong Rog you can make it.....we are only talking about a week here aren't we!
  5. Blimey, I doubt it will see at that price!
  6. I had the misfortune of owning a Rockbass Corvette $$ for all of three weeks, I was pre-warned that the control pots were not the correct value for the pickups so out of the box they sounded pretty ropy, boy they were not wrong, despite fully rewiring it it still sounded awful, I can honestly say it was the most disappointing bass I have ever owned. I later owned a LTD edition German Corvette $$ and although it was massively better than the Rockbass I still found it underwhelming! I sold it on, it was sold on again soon after and indeed appeared for sale again on Ebay recently! As @Lfalex v1.1 said if you have decent basses already in your collection I also think you will be disappointed with it and like @TheGreek I scratched my Warwick itch by buying a Spector!
  7. @BigJim I believe our Jim is offering a specialised instrument courier service?
  8. Blimey, the one I brought was somewhat cheaper than that! Mine was at least £1100 cheaper!
  9. A nice looking bass, a local music shop owner has a pink fretless that I played a few years back, a cracking bass by any measures! Part of his private collection so, sadly, not for sale.
  10. I saw them at the Derngate Theatre in Northampton on the No Parlez tour, I was absolutely blown away by quality of the band but especially Pino and some 37 years on I am "pleased" to say I still can't play like Pino!!
  11. I have exactly the same bass but in much better condition, it's a great bass but not a grands worth!
  12. A shed load of 70's dub
  13. A brilliant cover of what was a nice song originally, now it has some balls!
  14. Best purchase a lovely Status S2 direct from the factory, my worst purchase a Spector Legend Custom, the standard EMG-HZ pickups sounded really weak and the pre-amp has now packed up! Now awaiting fitting of a Glockenlang pre-amp and a pair of Nordstrand Big Blade pickups which will hopefully transform it into the bass it should be as it is lovely to play!
  15. I messaged John East a couple of weeks ago through his website as I needed a pre-amp for my Spector Legend, sadly I didn't get a reply so I brought a Glokenlang from Bass Direct instead, shame really as the East pre-amp was recommended.
  16. I grew up in there, it was my local from the age of 16 (OK maybe a tad before that!) I played for their pool teams, I rented my first flat purely because it was only 5 minutes walk / 20 minutes stagger from the pub, I met my lads mum in there, I really am saddened to see it go.
  17. I sold my M2000 Tribute for £320.00 a couple of years back, so Mick won it at a fair price, as @Nibody said " report them as a none performing seller"
  18. The tuners are exactly the same as those fitted to my mid-eighties Jap built Precision Lyte (allbeit mine are gold) I would say they are original to the bass
  19. I got more than a hug but it was our wedding anniversary!
  20. I remember a band called Hunters Club playing at the Roadmender in the mid 80's, I think they were the headline band on the night, either way it was not very well attended with maybe less than 100 people in what was a 1600 capacity venue....they walked on stage, demanded that everyone come forward and crowd around the front of the stage, when no one moved they kicked the mic's offstage and walked off without playing a note! I Never heard from them again!!
  21. Relisted....my only concern is that he says he has had it 16 years but doesn't mention the pickup change, were Wilkinson branded pickups available in 2004? They seem far more recent to me
  22. I have had to open the holes up on a couple of scratchplates in the past, as @Paul S said not all pickups / pickup covers are the same size, I had to junk a set of cheap pickups that actually sounded quite good where the covers were glued on to the pickup as they were too big to fit any scratchplate I had! One word of advice, don't drill any holes until you have test fitted everything (including the neck) together, I brought a really nice nitro finished body a few months ago where the builder had already fitted the scratchplate, by the time I had got the pots to fit in the cavity space and the neck sitting in the pocket correctly I had to re-drill all of the scratchplate holes!
  23. We always finished up with Sit Down by James, it always went down really well....the band veto'd my suggestion of Baby F**k Off by the Electric Chairs for some reason
  24. In the air tonight (especially after 10pm version) Phil Collins?
