  1. Its this kind of nonsense that has stopped me from buying music software. I use Logic pro X which cost less than £200 and I only use the included fx & instruments. Hardware is another thing that peed me off. I've had to shelve two interfaces, a tascam and a native instruments one as the companies wouldn't release drivers for an OS released after the product was discontinued. These two companies will never see another penny from me.
  2. Not sure I'd want to share a tour bus with someone who eats that many hard boiled eggs
  3. No reason was given at the time, but I recall I had cut at least one of the strings a little short on the bass I had brought with me into the shop that day. I think there was a single wind around the capstan. My view is that having more windings on the capstan pushes the bottom winding down so the string is forced to exit lower so it naturally sits better in the nut preventing potential buzzes & rattles.
  4. Several years ago I had some advice from Martin Petersen in the Gallery which was to not cut the strings when fitting them to the bass. Since then I have always used all of the length if possible, but if the string is too long to wind in a neat stack around the capstan without overlapping I do snip some off but as little as possible. What is the basschat concensus on this?
  5. The one fitted to the squier vista series musicmaster is the only 4 saddle bridge I know of with the correct shape however it is a string-thru bridge so holes through the body & ferrules would be needed. For an easy swap-out a standard BBoT (Jazz/Precision style) would work, but the string spacing might be a bit wider than is ideal. I would probably go for something like a badass or one of its clones where the string spacing can be customised.
  6. Well, it went for £175.79 which seems like a good deal for the purchaser
  7. I doubt an 80s strat would have a lacquer finish so all of the suggestions so far should be safe on a poly finish. Lighter fluid is great for getting rid of stubborn sticker residue so might also work for marker pen ink.
  8. Not my kind of bass, but I believe these are well regarded. Less than two hours to go with bidding at £122. Pickup only so might be a bargain for someone who appreciates such things. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/283785123186
  9. Here's a bit of cheap tat that someone has gone to a lot of trouble to try to pass off as a Fender neck. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/fender-precision-bass-neck/124093722234?hash=item1ce48fee7a:g:5~EAAOSwkkxeUYKV
  10. Waste of time - The bass doesn't exist.
  11. Definitely a scammer - you'll have no ebay protection when the goods aren't sent. Report him to ebay.
  12. It was a pleasure to meet Gary when he came to buy a bass from me. A good chap to deal with.
  13. Try signing in with a G suite account, ie an account for google/gmail/youtube etc
  14. I always considered transparent red to be the best colour for SG shaped Gibson basses, but having seen this, I've changed my mind.
  15. Looks like an unneccesarily overengineered and costly solution to a very minor problem.
  16. So do I , but I don't let that stop me My current no 1 is one of these and I love everything about the design

  18. Noticed a funky looking Wishbass on ebay: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bass-Fretless-4-String-Curly-Ambrosia-Maple-J-B-Wishbass-Kent-Armstrong-J-PU/143531217204?hash=item216b209134:g:ks0AAOSw7UheGOpm and this fugly one: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lefty-Bass-Fretless-4-String-Red-Cedar-Fiddle-Shape-Short-Scale-28-Wishbass/133325147860?_trkparms=aid%3D555021%26algo%3DPL.SIMRVI%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20190711100440%26meid%3Daf81145a6a9f4ca6b4d1f88154fb85a7%26pid%3D100752%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D18%26mehot%3Dpf%26sd%3D143531217204%26itm%3D133325147860%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D0%26pg%3D2047675&_trksid=p2047675.c100752.m1982 Also noticed the verbiage near the bottom of the page: Unfortunately this video exists with Mr Wishnevsky himself demoing one of his basses by using it to make a noise like a dying cow
  19. Yes, I have the mooer bass sweeper now & its fantastic for such an inexpensive pedal. My bassballs was the original 70s USA one. I can't remember when I last saw it, but it would have been many years before basschat existed.
  20. I'm so used to babying my basses that I catch myself taking great care not to put a dink in my JMJ mustang.
  21. There's a 'tribute' series version of the fallout guitar, so I wouldn't be surprised if a more affordable version of the fallout bass is available sometime in the future - maybe even with some nice colours.
  22. I must go & see this before it ends in April. Its good to see that Paul's bass is resting on a nice padded cushion to prevent it from getting damaged.
  23. I quite fancy an ebony one, but I should probably unload one of the sunburst ones before looking as having four could be seen as excessive.
  24. You'd probably need to open it up and mess about with the trimpots to get it sounding this filthy, and of course David J was playing his usual Fretless precsion. The bass sweeper is a pretty good clone of the bass balls and brings the extra controls to the top for a wider variation in sound. I used to own an original 70s bass balls so I recognised the sound on this track as soon as I heard it. I still have the record but I have no idea what happened to the bass balls.
