  1. I wouldn't refuse one if I was given it, but I don't think it would sound as good in my hands.
  2. I'm a big fan of the Geezer 'P' pickup - it totally transformed my '81 Precison which had a rather lacklustre original pickup
  3. I've not played every model of Epiphone t-bird but my vintage pros have a very comfy slim neck - much like a good jazz bass.
  4. I believe it was on the dudepit bass forum that this was referred to as 'CYN' or 'cover your nuts'
  5. I've just watched the pedal show video - I'm now fully enlightened and not at all confused. Funny how the only mention of bass was that "Don't Worry" by Marty Robbins was the first record to feature distortion in 1961 which featured a bass going through a knackered mixer channel.
  6. The Gallery charges 15% on commission sales
  7. I wonder whether it might have started out life as a baldwin or one of the associated brands like fenton weill?
  8. How would you describe the differences between Overdrive, Distortion, and Fuzz?
  9. Pitch correction has its place. I have been known to use it on my recordings, but the key is to make it subtle. It makes me sound like I can almost carry a tune in a bucket. I'm really not a fan of the sound where it is very obvious, as heard on the rap/grime/whatever tracks my 18 year old son listens to at high volume in his car, but I'm not the target market for that stuff and he seems to enjoy it.
  10. As low as possible I use the extra long version of the comfort strapp adjusted to the maximum length available for my thunderbirds - I think its actually 's against the law to play a thunderbird at nipple height like the Sade bloke's stingray. for my mustangs I use a levys suede stap adjusted as long as possible.
  11. I've never used the kind that sits by the nut, and probably never will as I don't go in for slap tap or similar party tricks. I've never got on with foam at the bridge end as it either deadens too much or not enough for me. I tend to use palm muting where I can control the pressure on the string with more precision.
  12. A lot of people on here do their own setups, repairs and modifications, so wouldn't hesitate to get the toolkit out and add a strap button from their 'bits box'. However if you aren't comfortable doing that yet, or even if you are but want to be a stickler for what is right, this is Anderton's problem. Speak to them and I'm sure they'll sort you out.
  13. This is lovely - I wish I wasn't skint ☹️
  14. 1 - Rotosound jazz bass 77 - hahahahahahahahahahahaha! What a ridiculous load of bollocks
  15. Is is something to do with them playing Sun City during apartheid?
  16. BT12 https://hipshotproducts.com/collections/bass-xtenders/products/bt12-bass-xtender
  17. you’d need some balls to play it
  18. If I spent that much on a pleckie I’d keep it quiet
  19. The strings going over the back of the bridge and into holes behind the bridge doesn't look very well thought out.
  20. I love my short scales. I have a few with 30” scale length: a pair of mustangs (CIJ & JMJ), a pair of early 70s musicmasters, a danelectro longhorn, a guild starfire, and a squier Jag SS. The Squier was my regular rehearsal & gigging bass in a previous band mostly playing blues. I have recently become aware of the very cute squier mini precision which can be found for under £140. I’m currently resisting the temptation to get a black one and add a mirror pickguard, EMG Geezer pickup and Fender HiMass bridge.
  21. The TC mini pedals are PSU only - there's no space for a battery
  22. yes - I have used the 32” TI JF-324 flat wound set on a mustang and they were a perfect fit. Status hot wires medium scale flats also fit. Fender fit standard long scale stainless steel flats to the JMJ and I’ve kept them on mine with no problems
  23. I visited a guitar tech in Denmark street many years ago which was down a narrow flight of stairs. While I was there Lonnie Donnigan came in and told the tech he was there to have a pickup fitted to his acoustic guitar. He didn’t have a guitar with him though which was puzzling — until a couple of minutes later when his missus entered struggling with a rectangular aluminium covered flight case containing the guitar in question. Perhaps you could keep your existing cabs and, like Lonnie must have done, tell the missus that you’re going to let her become your personal roadie.
