I used to use large triangle tortex picks but recently switched to Dunlop prime tone 1.5 mm non-grip small triangles which work much better for me on both guitar and bass. These are made from polyetherimide like ultex picks, but they are coloured brown which makes them look a bit like super-expensive blue chip picks.

Nothing wrong with a nice sunburst. Rather than seeing it as being dated I'd say it is a timeless classic.

One band, in two different parts of the room.

Sounds like you need to invest in a PA system which includes monitors. The combo that the guitar, keys and vocals are plugged into - can a second cabinet, or a second amp taking a feed from that amp be added to that on the opposite side? At least get it off the floor and onto a stand or table so the optimum listening position isn't at knee height. -

I wonder whether it has Perfect balance and set at random angles tuners. -
Steve Severin's Wal Bass on eBay (again?)
Jean-Luc Pickguard replied to TheGreek's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
It doesn't explictly say that it was Steve Severin's bass, only that he used it on two TV appearances. Maybe it belonged to a hire company? -
I used to have one of these in that exact colour - cool looking bass.

An unorthodox Squier JV

At least the tuners aren't set at jaunty angles on a weirdly reshaped headstock -
I like my go-faster banana righton strap so much that I have now placed an order for the white righton mojo strap for my white vintage pro thunderbird.

I like the effect fender used to use on some of their USA instruments where they use precision cut vinyl in a shiny metallic chrome or gold.

That must have seemed like a good idea at the time, perhaps after a few drinks. -
It very much depends on the bass. Daphne blue on a mustang. Alpine white on a thunderbird Transparent red on a mahogany bodied semiacoustic or clear transparent on a maple bodied semiacoustic black on a steinberger (or hohner) cricket bat Then each bass/colour will need a specific pickguard colour (if it has a pickguard of course) to complete the look...

I won't post a link to the actual listing <whisper>as it is on gumtree not ebay<whisper> This looks like there was an attempt at a sunburst and instead they invented the explosive diarrhea burst™ btw - its listed at £270 for some reason which is surely a little optimistic

Did Bruce Springsteen ever recipricate by doing a song with the bass out of tune called "The hardest working man in showbusiness?"
-
nice - it'll go with pretty much anything

Another drummer stealing the show.

By the expression on his face it looks like someone slipped something into his apple juice -
What colour did you get?

I've used my yellow righton with my bullet mustang for a few days now and I'm a convert - it looks great, is really comfortable to wear and the pleckie holders are more handy than I expected them to be. This one would go nicely with my white thunderbird

Baby sues dead man and chums over genitalia failure

No, but the car's exhaust pipe wasn't on display so it wasn't pornographic. -

Perhaps he previously wasn't too concerned about the pic, however more recently whenever he'd meet a young lady and start dating she'd have no idea of his former fame, but then when they were about to get intimate he'd strip off and she'd take one look and say "hey - your winky looks just like the kid's on the Nevermind cover" -
Galli strings - any experience?
Jean-Luc Pickguard replied to franzbassist's topic in Accessories and Misc
I use their flatwound ubass set they make for kala https://www.southernukulelestore.co.uk/kala-ukulele-bass-flatwound-strings-made-by-galli-strings/ They are well made strings with a smooth feel and manage to give a deep and thumpy tone to the ubass, but as they have a synthetic core these might not be representative of their longer-scale offerings. -
Don't see these often https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/224581029411?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20180105095853%26meid%3Db2713914eb8441d399483e474fb54b62%26pid%3D100903%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D20%26sd%3D224581029411%26itm%3D224581029411%26pmt%3D0%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2510209%26brand%3DDanelectro&_trksid=p2510209.c100903.m5276 All original 1960s Silvertone made by Danelectro

I bought the yellow strap with a black go-faster stripe as it goes with my yellow mustang and is comfy. I'm not sure yet whether it is actually vegan as it has so far refused to eat anything I have offered it.
-
My banana yellow righton strap has arrived for my banana yellow mustang and I'm very chuffed with it. I had been using an old comfort strapp with the guitar for the few days since I got it but this Righton strap is just as comfy and the colour is pretty much spot-on.

Is your cab the same make as your head?
Jean-Luc Pickguard replied to Friskydingo's topic in Amps and Cabs
My socks don't even match most days. I do like having a strap that matches (or at least co-ordinates with) the colour of the I'm playing bass though. For amp & cab I own a Markbass LMII and a Schroeder 1212L but I don't use them with my current band as they already had a lovely Ashdown ABM rig when I joined so I play through that.
