Cool! I'm trying one of my bias models for church this morning.
What amp are you trying to model? or are you just finding combinations you like the sound of? Not sure I need Bias, but I'm always happy to spend hours tinkering and Bias seems to be all about that.

Bought a P bass body from Richard. Really easy transaction and he even delivered it to me personally.
What did you use gear and settings wise?!
Fender P bass - sonic port - iPad 2 using Jamup / b15 and svt models - Di box (to give me xlr to desk) I'm using IEM and the rig sounded great. One of the best SVT sims I've tried. Settings wise I tend to keep it fairy clean but love the low end heft that Jamup has. Haven't tried Bias yet, pretty happy with the models on the two bass packs.

Just finished my first gig using Jamup and the Sonic Port. I'm seriously impressed. Cuts down on so much gear.

Korg Pandora Mini. Boxed with manual. Mint as new. Still has the plastic film on the screen. Bought for practice when travelling and used only a couple of times. Runs off a single AA battery and has the handy audio slow down function when you plug in you iPod. http://i.korg.com/pandoramini £55 posted in the UK
Been thinking about picking up an iRig BlueBoard, the same one as Set is using
Surely its worth waiting for this: http://www.positivegrid.com/bt4/
Have you turned the latency off?! This fixed it for me
That's it! Turned off the ultra low latency and it's clean as a whistle. Many thanks sirs, I'm off to play. Has anyone any idea when the Positive Grid footswitch is to be released? I just need that now and it's a gig-able rig.
report back, I'd hate for this to be one of those 'too good to be true' things. I'm not selling my stuff just yet. need to invest in a sonic port.
It has vastly improved the situation. I am still getting the odd click having changed patch, but then it seems to settle and be fine. I still need to carry out further tests, I think it could still be better.
Try closing all other apps abnd restarting the ipad to free up any memory. Make sure the amp is outputting to speaker not headphones and choose the lowest latency setting you can. Hope that helps
Many thanks, I'll go and try that
It's been a great read so far Ste, keep it coming. Out of interest, have you ever tried pedals into iPad? Bass > pedals > sonic port > iPad app ? Do they play nice or just mess it all up?
Inspired by Ste's blog I've invested in a Sonic Port. I'm really impressed using it with my iPad 2 and Jamup. Its a massive step up from the IRig I had been using. I did also try it with my an octave and a filter in front - both worked very well, same as plugging into an amp I'm not a great fan of the Mutron III clone in Jamup, but the OC-2 clone is pretty good. My only problem with this setup is that I am getting the occasional click and pop, has anyone got any tips or settings that could help? Were it not for the above I'd be using it as my goto live rig.

Having read this thread a few days ago I took my chorus (Analogman mini) and tried it on my gig last night. We played Message in a Bottle and Walking on the Moon. Both sounded so close to the track, I was stunned. I'm using a stock J bass BTW, not fretless. Cheers for the tip chaps, the Chorus will come to all my gigs now and be on for all the Police tunes.

TBH it's been a while since I had it on my board, but from memory the lp filter is quite subtle. The Q control acts more as a tone shaper than the q control on a standard envelope filter. The OC2 will certainly take care of keeping things nice and fat.

I have a POG2 and used to have a Microsynth - the old 24v version. For me the POG is a different animal, The octave effects in the POG whilst tracking well are digital and much thinner than the MS's octaves. The beauty of the MS is its analog-ness. I personally like a rich analoge octave down for synth things. Just my opinion, that may be what you are after? I would strongly suggest you try both! they both have their pros and cons.

Obviously I don't know the band you speak of, but in my experience its usually the venue that decide how long and at what times you play. It seems a common misconception that the band have any say in this whatsoever. We're often asked for several encores, but can't because the venue has a strict timings and curfew for the live music. So we always end the last set early and play a couple of encores to keep the punters happy. Also we often say to the audience that 'We'll be back in a minute' so as to keep as many people drinking and in the venue as possible. Depending on venue the breaks can be anything from 10 minutes to an hour. Chances are the venue asked the band to finish just before closing time and that the band were waiting to go on to maximise the bars takings, after all thats (in the eyes of the landlord) what they are there for!
