There is a Beringher U-Phoria UM2 for sale (Sprockets part 3 post) in the Accessories classifieds or a Vox plugin headphone amp in the Effects sales thread.
I am happy with my Kala Nomad which is one up from the bottom of their range (I think) and one of the reasons for going for it was that common parts appeared in higher priced models so there should be a consistance in quality and the fact that it had a truss rod which some lower cost ukes do not.
We played a fund raising gig at Darlaston Town Hall last night for the boxing club our lead singer coaches at. We went down pretty well the audience were appreciative and danced to many of the numbers.
The venue put on some snap and drinks for us and we impressed enough for the people who run the venue to consider putting gigs on again. If they do we will get a booking😁
Saw Stray at Birmingham Town Hall in the mid seventies, the support band were good but Stray were way to loud and into themselves. We walked out after 10 minutes.
The wife bought me a Kala Nomad from gerryc of this parish for my birthday. I mainly use it for practicing new numbers before moving to my short scale bass.
Hopefully one day I will suprise my bandmates and gig with it😁
As mentioned by others earlier in the thread l anchor on the neck pick up then the E, A and D strings muting with the base of the thumb as I go.
For some reason I have started to adopt a guitar plucking style if the bpm of the song increases especially if the notes are on the A and D strings🤔
I have found the AKG K52 more than good enough low cost, 2.5m lead, 32ohm and closed back all for under £50.
I use these with an Ashdown Tone Pocket and the combined mp3 files and bass do seem to integrate into a decent soundstage for practicing.
I have bought a few items in the Black Friday sales not out of anything but need as both the house land phones and the wifes mobile failed this week. I will be checking the price in the coming days to see if they were bargains but I doubt if this will be the case.
