As mentioned in an earlier post I have found that the RS77S strings do take longer to bed in and also sound better in a band mix the bedroom practice.

I will back up eude's suggestion plus would suggest looking in the classifieds as there are a number of Barefaced cabs on offer. I use the Two10 and can highly recommend it.

How about one of the Headrush 8" or 12" powered FRFR speakers?

I never had a violin bass but went for the Club. I do like the look of that Cort without the Hofner chamfering 12stringbassist.

How long have you had them fitted to the bass? Re my earlier post the second set I fitted are sounding pretty even now.

There is the Nux Air which is suitable for both guitar and bass, has a phone amp for amp sim and effects plus other things. Rechargeable battery, aux in, headphone out, small and compact. The only review Ihave seen prefered it to the Positive Grid.

Just about to start to learn 'You can't do that' for next weeks rehearsal. A standard I know but not one the band has played before.

I have RS77S fitted to two of my shortcsales: on the one they were fitted to first the dead/out of tune sound is a lot less now than before so I think they may have a longer 'break in' period. Those fitted to my other bass are also starting to sound better over time although they have been on for a shorter period and not played for as long. The Rotosound strings are made of Monel (Nickel/Copper + a few other components) which is a very different material from steel or nickel so if you take into account the comments from fretmeister: I would expect to hear a least a tonal difference anyway.

You could try a Headrush FRFR108 (I think the part number is) with a preamp pedal of your choice.

+1 I've just fitted the 77s shortscale strings to two of my basses and concur with nilebodgers comments.

The MXR81 seems to get a lot of love on here Thunderbird.

I think Newtone only make roundwound strings currently. Check out the options on the Bass Direct website.
