  1. If you are new to bass playing I would not worry about effects at this stage so just use the EBS for the time being.
  2. I have read a few comments on forums/reviews about flats being dead straight out of the packet.
  3. Not sure many 'beginners' are going rush out and buy one at £895.
  4. The wireless receiver is suitable for pedalboard mounting. Sorry for the confusion.
  5. I use a version of the Gear4Music pedalboard unit. The base unit is rechargeable and has a big enough battery to enable it to charge the guitar bug. It also has a built in tuner, rotary 'cable length' simulation and a dc out socket to power another pedal. The bug also has a mute function. The battery in the base unit has manged to match the life of the one in the bug, recharge the bug and still have charge remaining after the bug has run out of steam for a second time.Pretty pleased with it so far.
  6. How about an Ashdown Studio Junior, currently £79 at guitarguitar. 15w and has an aux input.
  7. I have been using 50 - 110 gauge (roundwound) and have recently changed to 40 - 90 (flat wound) more than a gauge change I know but I really like them.
  8. A good cheap bass with upgrading potential.
  9. I am not sure the 'straight up'setting on the eq is going to be as accurate as you require without some fiddling.
  10. A previous rythm guitarist in our band had a Silver Series strat he had bought it off a guy years before he joined us and had never felt the need to change. It was a guitar that just seemed to sound right no matter what it was playing.
  11. I bought a bass from Woz when he moved to Regent Guitars in Leamington Spa. Also purchased a Spector Legend 5 string from Sound Control. Oh those were the days.
  12. You can purchase Newtone strings direct from their website which also gives you the option to choose round or hexagonal cores. The Platinum versions are wound to be smooth for recording purposes.
  13. I also have a Silver Series Pbass which I purchased from the Basschat classifieds for around £275 a few years ago. It's a nice sounding well built bass.
  14. Best of luck for tonight Dom (just recovering from a bout of flu myself so no how you feel).
  15. We have had the Sonos Beam for a couple of years and that has good sound and is highly rated by others (and available from Richer Sounds). You may be able to pick up the Version 1 for around £349 or go with Version 2 which has Dolbby Atmos for £429.
  16. Looks like a fine job done there, full marks to Jon Shuker. I bet you're a very happy man.
  17. They also got a good review in Bass Guitar magazine.
  18. You could also look at the Platinum range of bass strings from Newtone. These have a smoother wind than normal and you can also choose round or hex cores.
  19. Yep I liked the short scale one except for the pickup arrangement.
  20. They are Ashdown/Lakin designs produced in a factory in the far east that has produced Laklands I think.
