  1. Also so add the Bass Collection brand to your list. These often come up at good second hand prices in the classifieds.
  2. That's the one MartinB. I used to take mine to practice nights with a loud drummer and 2 guitarists and it always held it's own.

    obbm's feedback

Just received two short speaker cables from Dave and as always super quality and fast delivery. Many thanks Dave.
  4. You could always subscribe to Bass Guitar magazine as they are offering a Blackstar Fly 3 as an incentive to new subscribers. The Fly 3 has an mp3/line input which you could feed from the headphone socket of your computer. I use a Vox Pathfinder Bass 10, put my bass through a Tascam GB10 and feed the output from that into the amp. I have used a Peavey 20w Minimax? with an 8" speaker which I liked and then regretted selling it.
  5. You could also put an ad up at your local rehearsal studio and on this site.
  6. Never thought they were that bad, has usable tones and still got mine.
  7. I found found SBL useful and subscribed. You could try Scott's free YouTube lessons and also drop in on Scott Whitley's offerings.
  8. My longer short scale basses fit in a Fusion Funksion electric guitar gig bag if you can get one.
  9. Depends upon what type of string you are looking for. I buy straight from the manufacturer Newtone which are a British company. Have a look at www.newtonestrings.com.
  10. Can only agree with the comments from Mastodon. I have watched the video reply from Scott and from using both his YouTube and SBL content (I'm a member) I can believe he is more than a nice guy in real life. Like the hat (me being follically challenged as well) and the wrist watch by the way Scott.
  11. Nice one ead, a 'quite interesting' bass😁
  12. Have a look at the Ashdown heads, I think Loz has a RM500 in the classifieds, there may even be a RM800 from memory (but then again my memory is not that good😁).
  13. Damn, Somerset is just a little to far to go😁
  14. Nice job, and some good looking turntables in the first picture as well.
  15. +1 for Davo's comment.
  16. Mine is an upgraded HB Short Scale fitted with Delano pickups, a decent bridge and modified to give the option of stringing through the body plus other finishing mods. Plays well above it's price.
  17. Dave have you played with the 'built in' cable length settings on the Smoothound? these do make a difference to the sound.
  18. Oops 9 straps and only 4 basses.
  19. Glad you gone Smoothound Dave, I did the same and found know problems. Got a spare short lead if you are interested.
  20. You could look at the Harley Benton Short scale P bass at about £80. Probably good for upgrading at a later date as well.
  21. Welcome Tony. Nice choice of bass.
  22. Well done for signing up Stub, I'm sure you will enjoy the experience. If you need any help leading up to the gig let me know (I live in Staffordshire as well).
  23. If the wood came from a church then it's going to make one holy bass. Alternatively if it's from a pub/club it will be a great Bass (think beer) and will be well brewed.
  24. +1 for Newtone strings which I have on all my short scale basses (30.5").
