  1. Watch out for the pips😁
  2. In our band it would be the rhythm guitarist being described by the thread title.😁
  3. pepsi-abi, have you sorted a strap yet, if not let me know I probably have one you can have.
  4. I appreciate it's an eclectic mix, but surely Doris Day had one of the best voices of her era?
  5. Not and album or track but currently listening to Lisa Tarbuck on Radio 2 who is playing some absolutely spiffing music including Talking Heads, Annie Lennox, Roxy Music/Bryan Ferry. Glad I tuned in as I've been bopping round the kitchen to music genres I don't like. If I'm not mistaken it will be followed by Johnnie Walkers Rock Hour😀
  6. Yep, Newtone strings are what I use and can't fault them or the company that makes them and they are British to boot.
  7. It is worth trying any bass you are thinking of buying before you buy as it is not only the style or type but other factors such as weight, body size and scale length. I must say looking at some of the bass player pictures posted in this thread one ore more would be better off with a short or medium scale which would make their playing far more comfortable. Re the bass you are looking at I think all the points have been mentioned already. Whatever you choose, enjoy.
  8. That looks good - nice one.
  9. I think Status strings may meet your requirements hooky_lowdown. There does not seem to be any on the strings shown on their standard scale bass guitar pictures.
  10. Try searching this in youtube: Strap Height - Bass Lesson with Scott Devine
  11. How about the Tascam GB10, - small, compact and you can load it with music to play along to. Powered by batteries our usb supply. Built in effects and tuner (if I remember correctly).
  12. Many thanks Zoltan, just signed up. A generous move on your part in these difficult times.
  13. Good to hear you've found a solution Danny👍
  14. Hiya ZBD welcome.
  15. Welcome John. I like the name of your local chippie😁
  16. It's amazing what can be done with/to one of these. The one I have is fairly highly modified regarding pickup, string through, finish and still plays well above it's weight.
  17. How about the Laney Mini-Bass-NX (battery powered) or Vox Pathfinder Bass 10 (mains).
  18. I use a Tascam GB10 loaded with MP3's. Alternatively you could try using Spotify from your prefered device which allows you to stop/start and rewind songs. Remember you will need a headphone or line output on the device you choose.
  19. That's a very nice looking bass grayn👌
  20. A bit of pot cleaning may not go amiss initially.
  21. Did you discuss what you were planing to play at the next rehearsal before you left the first one? If you did and the band member in question doesn't show any signs of have do anything or any improvement, then a gentle let down is probably the way to go.
  22. I like the colour and the scale size - nice.
  23. Hi Peter welcome to the clan. I have heard good reports about your band from friends. Just live a few miles down the road from you.
  24. I use one by Stagg and velcro the cab/head lead to it just in case. The problem is the front to back depth of the cab but this solution works well. Always liked the look of the one from Roland S01 as well.
  25. Have a look at Newtone strings. The Platinum are very smooth with a softish feel. On the website you can choose either steel or nickel with round or hexagonal cores, and they don't cost a lot either.
