  1. Welcome John. I like the name of your local chippie😁
  2. It's amazing what can be done with/to one of these. The one I have is fairly highly modified regarding pickup, string through, finish and still plays well above it's weight.
  3. How about the Laney Mini-Bass-NX (battery powered) or Vox Pathfinder Bass 10 (mains).
  4. I use a Tascam GB10 loaded with MP3's. Alternatively you could try using Spotify from your prefered device which allows you to stop/start and rewind songs. Remember you will need a headphone or line output on the device you choose.
  5. That's a very nice looking bass grayn👌
  6. A bit of pot cleaning may not go amiss initially.
  7. Did you discuss what you were planing to play at the next rehearsal before you left the first one? If you did and the band member in question doesn't show any signs of have do anything or any improvement, then a gentle let down is probably the way to go.
  8. I like the colour and the scale size - nice.
  9. Hi Peter welcome to the clan. I have heard good reports about your band from friends. Just live a few miles down the road from you.
  10. I use one by Stagg and velcro the cab/head lead to it just in case. The problem is the front to back depth of the cab but this solution works well. Always liked the look of the one from Roland S01 as well.
  11. Have a look at Newtone strings. The Platinum are very smooth with a softish feel. On the website you can choose either steel or nickel with round or hexagonal cores, and they don't cost a lot either.
  12. My B1 Four turned up last Thursday . It seems as well built as the old '708' and I like the fact you can also power it off the usb socket so I am going to hook up one of my power banks and see how that goes. Plenty of features as described previously in this thread but I've not tried editing or anything yet but the instructions appear logical. I like the fact you can alter both the overall volume via a rotary control and that of the banks in the same manor - double the control. Gonna try some of Al Krows settings and see how I get on.
  13. We've just bought 2 off Studiospares Auditorium 12A Mark111 which are 12 inch speakers with tweeter, bi-amped in wooden cabinets and rated at 415w rms each. The mixer is an elderly Behringer UB2222FX Pro. The set up gives us plenty of inputs and headroom for venues and the cabinets should do away with any rattles that plastic ones can come with. The speakers themselves were under £200 each so this is a cost effective set up.
  14. If you do have a problem with the new strap I have a shoulder support that may help.
  15. You could look at the Goldring E3 or Nagaoka MP110 as well. Both are well rated.
  16. You could try RS Components (Radio Spares to us older gents), CPC or Farnell. All are electronic component suppliers and have internet sites. RS Components do have regional outlets.
  17. How about a variable voltage output to cover 12/18v pedals and wireless systems.? but I would accept that this may be a step to far when trying to to keep the footprint size down.
  18. The Rutles - Not sure if they were in print but there is a DVD and CD.
  19. There's a good selection of Laney, Markbass and Ampeg heads in the classifieds around 500W+, match these with one of the Barefaced cabs in the same threads and you'll have a good rig for well under your £1k budget.
  20. Happy NBD. All the best with the learning. If you need any help at any time there are plenty of people on this site that will give you good advice and assistance.
  21. Have a look at Newtone Strings Diamond and Platinum series. You can specify Nickel or steel, round or hexagonal core. You should find a option to suit. UK made as well.
  22. There's a couple of heads from Markbas and Laney plus lightweight cabs from Barefaced, Markbass and EBS in the classifieds that could fit the bill.
