  1. I see people talk a lot about playing along with the radio, playlists etc. Would love to be able to do that.....do you mean these are songs you already know how to play or do you figure out the key on the fly and improvise along? Thanks for any advice
  2. Looks interesting for a beginning player. I bought the beginner pack on talkingbass and have also been following the studybass lessons. I like the way studybass gives example songs for each of the concepts, like roofs or octaves. Makes building up a repertoire easy. Does players path do something similar? If so I might sign up ...

Hi. Had rang Andertons to tell them about mistake and they very kindly agreed to ship out the replacement lb100 and take away the jb at the same time. I've been using the jb for the last week and its a really nice instrument. No faults I can see. I marginally prefer the p bass tone but just marginally. Any perspective on this as someone new to bass? Bit afraid now of changing and getting a dud instrument or regretting the change (Really enjoying it BTW...find it much easier to sit down with and just find notes compared to guitar) Thanks

hi. Just to follow up on this....finally got my bass yesterday...had bought the LB100 but got sent the JB in the same colour. Also got the rumble LT25 amp. Its a fantastic instrument....frets perfectly level, good action and intonation seems perfect so I think I'll keep. With a modeling amp I'm sure I'll have no issue with the tone. Thanks again for all the great help👍

Thanks. Blown away with the advice here. Had thought of the Hartke HD50 as an alternative. I think the orange might sound a bit better (warmer, deeper) but hard to know from online video...small difference. Hartke sounds like better value...what do you think?

Phenomenal responses! Thanks. Have ordered the G&L from Andertons. Much cheaper than the one on Thomanm Orange Crush amps very hard to get...don't seem in stock anywhere. I have my Fender mustang guitar amp that I can start on

Thanks the roland only came from by experience with the guitar version. Was online chatting with a rep from thomann today (who suggested the yamaha that I hadn't considered before) and a Hartke 50 Bass amp. 200e and seems to be reviewed well. Like its simplicity...not a modelling amp. Happy for you to spend my money (200e absolute tops) if theres a better choice.

Really appreciate all the input. Have the time to research this at the moment....aaand too much research leads to circles. Going to pull the trigger on a Yamaha 304 over the next few days Will let you know how I get on but looking forward to it.

Thanks all. Hadn't really consider G&L but the JB2 is fantastic sounding and just about within budget....450euros. I'll have a look around over the next 2 weeks. Last question about an amp....rumble 15 or blackstar 3 are the cheaper options. Is it worth spending a bit extra for the roland microcube (have the guitar version of this and really like it)?

Appreciate all the replies. Yeah, I like the Precisions sound but as some said, it's the sage option and I just wanted something different The 60s CV are the same as the 70s except for cosmetics? May be an even cheaper option

Thanks. Mostly hard/ classic rock. Some punk and metal RHCP, Rush, Billy Talent and then all the usual 70s 80s and 90s rock Like the SUB sound. Are they reliable and good quality out of the box? A reasonable beginner choice?
  13. Hi. Lookjng for some advice on my first bass. Playing electric for years and want to give Bass a go. Ideally I'd buy locally but that wont be an option for a few months so am looking online. Like the deep bass, precision sound. Habe decided on a Roland Microcube Bass amp. Trying to decide between....CV 70s precision, Omen 4, LtD 204 and Sterling SUB. Know that the squire is probably the safest bet but would like something a bit different if its not a crazy/risky decision. Thanks Ado
