  1. I went to Wrigleys in Plymouth and staggered out with about half a ton of freebie chewing gum..........
  2. ^^^^^ I'm not seeing the internal shots - lots of nice pics, but zero with the lid off?
  3. Mike Barrat (Shakin' Stevens) used to gig at mine in North London for forty-five quid (that was the whole band, driving down from Wales) Good show, not a big pull back in the day....how times change......... vvvvv sorry, should've made that clear - the band was The Sunsets.
  4. There's always the Americans (& the Japanese)....loads of mileage (and money) there.......
  5. It's the 'wisdom of hindsight' thing, they changed music dramatically, but something really needed to, and each generation takes stuff and makes it their own. I'm just glad that I lived through those times (and everything that went with them) and can now afford the luxury of looking back wearing (slightly) rose-tinted glasses sometimes.
  6. I like the Noble (I could use one of those....) shame there's no internal shots, I'd really like to see what I might be buying......? vvvvv are the mirrors included in the price?
  7. Me, being a technical dinosaur (I still own valve amps, for goodness sake), sometimes wonders it this fixation with all things modern can obscure the original exercise, which was merely to drain the swamp - sorry, play music - not shoot alligators, if you get my drift?
  8. Umm fourpenneth for what it's worth. If there's a prob with the amp, you need a guy who understands amplifiers, not an electronic techy, which is not the same beast (at all). Good luck.
  9. It's showing a 503 error - try phoning them?
  10. I did some gigs with Freddie Mac and the Boss Sound.....his band used the gap between numbers to play the riff from 'sock it to 'em JB' - Freddie used the riff to intro the next song - this was non-stop for an hour - simply the best band I ever worked with (and I've worked with a few).
  11. I used to do a lot of sound (dj)...always put a rough pile of stuff together before the show, which could be juggled, depending on the audience. Personally, I think that anyone who just 'throws' stuff at punters deserves all they get - including no rebooks...............
  12. I saw the thread title and thought 'oh dear, another one gone'.............
  13. I'm fairly sure that the police (any country) would be unable to assist - you need proof-positive that a crime (ie theft) has been committed..... at the moment, this is simply a 'missing' parcel........
  14. Face it, it probably got nicked en route. These packages all have barcode tracking, so it shouldn't take longer than a minute or two for the courier company to know roughly where it went astray. There seems to be a lot of smoke and mirrors going on with the couriers, but knowing how they operate, I'm not overly surprised. Time to politely suggest to the vendor that you are considering legal action against him?
  15. Had Jethro Tull on a gig that I promoted - I had to go elsewhere, and Ian Anderson spent the band break trying to sort the house pa in my absence - total respect !
  16. I took a professional test after a car smash - the audiologist reckoned the on-line stuff was not to be trusted.....
  17. Large holdall - speaker leads rolled on plastic drums (usually four) All my speaker leads are 10m, so no confusion... sound connection stuff in Bag for Life inside above mic ditto. Mains leads either inside amp hard-case, or yet another Bag for Life. Small tools, spare jacks etc in a little ali hard case from B&Q. Did this for years, the key (imo) is 'separation' (& making sure you repack properly).
  18. I wish anyone well who is at the receiving end of DPD 'service' I'm in retail, and have had to tell two suppliers that if they ever put anything of mine in the 'care' of this bunch of tw*ts again, I'll find new suppliers............
  19. I used to work in an industry where it was the usual form to ask 'x' if I might have contact with 'y'. 'x' would phone 'y' and they would (usually) phone me or give 'x; consent to part with the contact detail. There was the very rare occasion where 'y' said no, and 'x' would polity inform me of that outcome. That was in the early 1980's....seemed to work fairly well without ruffled feathers....... '
  20. Wot no Barefaced input? ....for shame.....
  21. I get this stuff all the time, fortunately most of it seems to land automatically in 'spam' - which I always delete. If they really want me, they can write, they've got the address.........
  22. I knew the promoter at Dunstable Civic - in 1970 he was sweating on taking the one thousand pounds for a one-hour set from the Who. That was 45 years ago - you do the math, I don't think the 300k is wrong......
  23. At 300k for 45minutes, it's interesting the slagging off that this band gets (not just on here, before anyone gets touchy) - they must have been doing something right for the last three decades or so......
  24. It's twins! have a bowl of sausages and custard on me! - oh, sorry
  25. Quo have got to be one of the best pub bands ever. They have now had so many farewell tours that I've lost count (or p'raps it just seems that way) They are simply an iconic band, even as they get older (along with the rest of us).
