1. At last B/F have revealed one of the worst-kept secrets of the year. !500 quid buys you an inbuilt amp and a 50lb lift - but Alex has thought about the handles............. Faital Pro 18HP1060 2400W Driver This Faitial Pro subwoofer is a beast. That's putting it lightly. The FEA designed aluminium basket and neo magnet cut its weight to less than a third of a comparable ferrite driver, whilst reducing distortions and improving transient response. The huge voice coil and motor venting minimises thermal compression for improved output and sonic accuracy and makes it almost impossible to blow. The cone and the suspension is built to withstand touring use, allowing very high linear excursion, protecting the driver from abusive over-excursion and being highly water (and beer!) resistant. Hypex PSC2.700 1400w Amp The Hypex amp can deliver in excess of 1400W into a dynamic load from its extremely low distortion class D amplifier, with an ultra efficient SMPS supporting continuous power levels of 1200W, far more than many so-called 2000W+ subs can manage. The 24 bit audiophile DSP allows us to optimisethe system so the enclosure, driver and amp work to their maximum potential, with four presets to suit your needs. The first ten are (were ?) 999.00...........
2. Cash - cash - cash works every time
3. Nope - you need vast quantities of those glowy things for that........... (please see my avatar) You WILL get a hernia with that tranny, guaranteed.....not to be lifted one-handed. VVVVVVV
4. Duff input socket?
5. Motown was great music, performed by great musical talent. Back in the day. Arguments about 'who did what' are just ripples in the pond.
6. I'd look at Barefaced.........& a Crown 'D' amp (but then I'm biased)
7. Worth a 'pinned' post? ....oops......
8. If it does what you want - leave it alone.
9. ^^^ As far as a 'proper' business is concerned, this would probably contravene the Data Protection Act. There is, of course, nothing to prevent them contacting the purchaser for you.
10. ^^^^ 'Interesting' - my feelings about a return would be something on the lines of 'fvck that for a game of soldiers'...... .....but each to their own.
11. ^^^ I know a leisure lighting/sound firm (no names, no pack drill) that started in about 1986 in a Council Yard startup office space (I think the dustcarts were still using one bit) - they now run three or four huge industrial units with a stock inventory that must make Hinkley look cheap - all done by being 'nice' to their customers - it can happen, but I think it's harder now.............
12. Sly & Family Stone - Everyday People Remix - awesome
13. Good one Nancy - wish you well !
14. I think you can scale this up as well - the number of expensive cr*p enclosures (& amps) that I've suffered over the years is simply unreal. I'll spare the manfacturers blushes (some are deservedly out of business) - currently I run a split sound between Barefaced & Mackie and the results are pretty-well what I spent 40odd years looking for.............
15. ..........nice mic stand...........
16. Thanks for that, every little bit of info I can get will help.. I'm in retail - the business rates & rent will murder your bottom line, Only do this if you need to find out 'what if'
17. I've got a Crown Drivecore XLS2000 - which is very portable (10.8lbs) and a clutch or Ormat/Matamp kit - which is not. The heavy iron just sounds different, in a good way...(imo)
18. Think I'll stick to Barefaced...no offence....
19. Umm - I'd be a bit worried about how 'I killed the speaker' ????
20. ^^^^^ (allegedly) Aretha Franklin does the same (it's a generation thang ??)
21. Life and Death in G & A (Joe Hicks) - amazingly simple funk produced by Sly Stone............
22. I've done all this stuff - use a folding sack barrow - cheap, strong and handles kerbs and doorways with ease.
23. The 18" sub has been muttered about for quite a while now - would be nice if Alex could update us?
24. I've got a clutch of Orange/Matamps, they are mostly over 20 odd years old (one is nearly 50) and work perfectly (they have all been checked over, recently, and caps etc replaced as necessary) - If the stuff is gigged a fair bit, I think a yearly check is a good idea, even if it's just to check the bias - it's not just the reliability here, there is also a safety factor...........
